Spring Day is probably the most important song in BTS’s entire catalog. It came out seven years ago, and it’s still on the Korean charts today. It has never fallen off. If you react to the video, please also watch the explanation video by the Italian ARMY. It is much much deeper than you can imagine.

Yes the Italian ARMY explanation video is the best but be forewarned it is rugged to watch. It shows actual clips from the Sewol Ferry Tragedy. A tragedy that never should have happened.

BTS ‘found’ me in 2020 after I lost my dear husband of 50yrs. They rescued me and lifted me up from a puddle of grief and brought me back to a world filled with their music. I listen to them every day because they taught me that it’s ok to miss my husband, but it’s also ok to feel joy and happiness again. 💜

Suga versus is about his friend whom he grew up with but he got involved with drugs and went to prison. Suga would visit him like a faithful friend however when he was released he tried to get Suga to try drugs. Suga had to stop associating with him but he felt guilty that he couldn’t save him. His song as Agust D Dear My Friend is about this relationship.💜

I’ll tell you a bit of this 75-year-old woman’s story because it is likely different from almost all others you’ll hear. I come from a music family; my dad was a jazz musician who became a music teacher. I was a classical musician in my youth, but never got in to rock-n-roll in high school (or college in the 1960s), nor any form of rap or pop music.
Normally I only watch the opening monologues of the late-night US talk shows. But on a late September 2020 evening, I became curious about the music group Jimmy Fallon was featuring all that week and watched the BTS performance of “Black Swan.” I was amazed at the creativity and skill of the choreography, dancing, lyrics, and vocals. My initial reaction was “Who the H… are these people? This can’t be pop music; it’s contemporary dance, performance art.” What I experienced that night in September was way beyond anything I’d ever imagined a pop/rock/rap group could create. It opened me up to new experiences in the arts, to recognizing that rap can be spoken word poetry. I looked them up, and now I’m 4 years in to watching and listening to everything they have done over a decade+ of creative magic.

I’m an avid watcher of Kdramas. I had Covid Thanksgiving of 2022. Just watched Hwarang. Looked up the cast and found out that one of them was a BTS member. And then I watched V and the Wooga squad in In the Soop. Ran out of Kdramas to watch during my quarantine. Saw that PTD was on Disney+. Super impressed by their performance. Been an avid fan since. V was definitely my gateway.

I became ARMY in Nov 2016. “Dope” was a RUclips recommendation. I watched a dozen times in a row, with my jaw dropped as low as it would go. I spent the next 24 hrs or so binging content. I’m an old Goth/metal fan, and never cared about boy bands or pop music. I’d lost my husband of 40 yrs in May 2016 and was having a rough time dealing. BTS gave my heart and soul a lift unlike any music I’ve ever known. At 71, I’m proud elder ARMY young forever!

JK was my gateway into BTS on the carpool karaoke on James Cordon. When he hit that note from on I was up the rest of night looking for anything BYS and I have not looked back. The way he opened up a sang that solo I was out my bed and replayed that part over and over again. He is still my bias. His voice is unbelievable. It’s a little over 4 years for me. The boy can sang. I love the entire group they are amazing. There is no one in my opinion that can match them in talent looks personality or anything. I’m proud Army since that night. Oh they haven’t made a song I don’t like. I quickly bought every album they made. 😂💜

All three of these songs are among their many mental health support songs and were chosen for that reason. This was during lockdown in 2020.
They chose Dynamite because it was brand new and was meant as a pick-me-up for ARMY and the world during lockdown. They were literally reminding people that life is still worth living and still joyful. Life is Dynamite.
Save Me is a song about reaching out and asking for help and how love and connection can be a saving grace and lift you out of darkness.
Spring Day is a song about loss, grief and longing, missing someone you love. Here BTS was addressing it to ARMY. We also addressed it back to them, like when we popped it up the charts when they all left for the military. It's also indelibly connected to a massive tragedy in S Korea (The Sewol Ferry Disaster) and the subsequent uprising regarding corruption on that and other matters, which led to the impeachment and imprisonment of the president of S Korea and much of her cabinet. BTS took a huge risk making an MV about it, as the president was mass blacklisting and mistreating artists at that time who spoke on forbidden issues, and this tragedy was one of those things, because it was linked to corruption at the highest levels of the government. The comfort Spring Day has brought to so many people suffering loss and grief or missing a loved one in any way is why it has never left the charts in S Korea. It's become a cultural zeitgeist and people cry and sing along in public. The lyrics are so beautiful (largely written by RM, though the other rappers always write their own verses) that an excerpt was put in the National Hangeul Museum in S Korea as a beautiful example of Korean poetry. Spring Day is legendary.
I became a fan because I have been a fan of KDramas for many years, but never got into Korean music much aside from the occasional OST. But I watched Taehyung/V's 2016 drama Hwarang. I was impressed with him and knew he was in a band, so I looked him up. The first songs that really grabbed me were off a playlist I found and put on while I went for a drive to check out their music and it was a Hype BTS playlist. The songs were Baepsae and Anpanman. This former OG 80s metalhead dove headfirst down the BTS rabbit hole and dragged my husband with me, who is also now ARMY.

Spring Day has never been out of the Korean charts since its release. It is the most significant song in the BTS discography. That is because the music video relates to the Sewol Ferry Disaster. It is one of the most disgraceful travesties of recent history in korea. Corruption caused a ferry carrying a large group of children on a school trip. The captain told them ro stay where they were so they would not prevent the coast guard saving the crew. So crew and captain were saved and the coast guard did not go back and over 300 people drowned, mainly children. The most accurate explaination is ITALIAN ARMY EXPLAINS SPRING DAY.

Love watching your obvious and total excitement of the trip down the BTS rabbit hole! 70 year old army, grandma. Always amazed by talent and humanity every single member possess. Lost my husband in 2017 with my oldest grandson joining the US Army one year later. His first two deployments were to South Korea. Immersing myself in their culture helped me feel closer to him during that time. I continue to soak up everything I can. Was fortunate to attend multiple concerts for BTS when they played in Sofi stadium 2021 and in Las Vegas 2022. I went with a younger friend and we promised each other at that time regardless of the state or city they played in when they returned, we would be there, assuming of course we have fast fingers on the ticket brigade. 😳💜💜💜💜💜💜💜

I became ARMY back in 2019 through my daughter who was 29 at the time. She kept asking me to listen to a group that she had absolutely fallen in love with and told me that a song of theirs really helped her when she was in a dark place. I thought it was just going to be another boy group and wasn't really interested in listening. I did just to make my daughter happy. I was expecting to give the appropriate head bobs and tell her that it was a really good song. Well...was I surprised. I really did enjoy the music. She then played me the song, Stay Gold, and I truly felt something in my heart. It touched me in a way that no song had before. That was the start and I haven't looked back. We even got my mom (who is now 96 and proud ARMY) into their music. She loves the group so much and has stated that RM is her bias. Her turning point song is On Kinetic Manifesto.

I became Army in September 2020, never heard of them ever! I was scrolling on YT and saw a video with the thumbnail about a Boy who cared so much about his sick hyung, I clicked on it and it was when the boys left or came back at the airport i don't know exactly anymore, but they where on the escalators and Taehyung his head looked down and jungkook was feeling if tae had fever..the manager look at jk full of concern and the look in JK's eyes grabbed me because, how many young men are so concerned about another.. i look further about who these 7 men where..the next month i saw my first online concert MOTS:ONE..i was already full into them, first got to know them mire through fan made videos and bangtantv, and then i looked deeply in their music. while my online concert JK became my ult. bias but i love and support each of them, they all 7 have something that people need in their lives, one gone is not the same nor for us as for them either. thanks for this reaction Martin! lots of 💜💜 from Belgium!💜💜

I first heard of BTS in the fall of 2021. I had just watched a KDrama that mentioned BTS and it seemed like EVERYONE in scene knew them and that they seemed to be a VERY BIG DEAL. So I looked it up having no idea it was a music group. I saw they were a “Korean Boy Band.” I hadn’t really heard of KPop, but I had heard from an another person that her daughter was into “Korean Boy Bands“ several years before that, so I figured that was what they were. Somehow, I found myself checking RUclips to see what they were about, thinking I’d watch a short clip so in the future I had some context the next time I heard them mentioned. I ended up watching The Most Beautiful Life Goes On: A Story of BTS. I found myself sucked into their story and the snippets of music seemed like some of the more interesting music I have heard in a while. So, I started down the rabbit hole and am still here 🤣
Looking back, I think that Drama was from 2019 and filmed about the time BTS really blew up globally.

I had first heard of BTS a few years ago. I remember watching fake love and hearing and watching dynamite and like many westerners at the time I had a pretty strong internal bias and didn’t really get it and basically disregarded them. At this point I’m pretty ashamed of that but we all make mistakes right?
A few years later… Feb 2023 to be exact, BTS came up on my recommended videos. I watched ON, and like you, Jungkook drew me in. I was super impressed by his vocal ability and I became curious that maybe I wrote them off too early. I saw fake love again and that was how I got hooked.
At that point chapter 2 was in full force and all the solo work started coming out and it just drew me in deeper. As I was enjoying their new releases I also started exploring their previous catalogue of work and learning about them and my actual world changed.
They say BTS finds you when you need them most and I am no exception. At the time I was going through a difficult time, a lot of anxiety, insomnia, I was really struggling just with life and their music and lyrics brought me so much comfort and hope. They gave me an emotional catharsis I didn’t realize I needed. I’ve been ARMY ever since. Becoming their fan is one of the best decisions I’ve made. 💜💜💜💜💜 borahae!!!

It was march 4th and the Black Swan MV was released and also trending here. I remember texting a joke to a friend, something like “I think I’m gonna watch some beautiful boys to pass the time”. Ended up seeing at least 10 mvs that day and many others the following week, then run bts episodes, they were also streaming on vlive at the time and yeah… the rest is history. I first heard BTS on Swedish radio back in 2019 (Boy with Love feat. Halsey). I liked the song but I didn’t do anything about it. After that I heard them now and then on the radio. During the pandemic I was watching a lot of East-Asian dramas on YT and BTS started to show up as suggestions in my feed more and more. In the summer of 2021, I listened to a few of their songs and in the beginning of fall My Universe started to be played a lot on Swedish radio. This was when I realized it was time to really look them up so I started in November 2021 and I’ve been an ARMY ever since. Love your channel and BTS journey! 💜

I heard Dionysus and then watched the On kinetic manifesto MV.. after that I was all in and the rabbit hole is deep 💜 I went through a very dark time with horrible depression but watching these guys thru music, lives, all the shows, in the soop and bon voyage were fun to watch.. I'm better now, but still have my moments, that's when I watch some BTS 💜💜💜💜

I met BTS through my daughter, she met them in 2017 (unfortunately it was after they came to Chile), and little by little she internalized me. She told me her names, she told me about them, I accompanied her to the cinema to see the movies; but it wasn't until last year that I wanted to know more, I downloaded Weverse, I was on their Lives, I started watching more videos (Run BTS, In the Soop, Bon Voyage) and above all, reaction videos (from North Americans, Europeans, Brazilians, Mexicans), I wanted to know what they said about them. I saw videos of choreographers, vocal coaches, film makers, psychologists, even a Catholic priest; and my admiration grew day by day, not only for their performances, but also for them as people. I feel great love for them, I feel happy to know them, to see them, I have cried and laughed with them, their music takes away my sadness and my worries, if I already believed that I loved myself, now I do it a thousand times more. I miss them very much, but I like to see how other people also get to know and admire them. Thank you Martin for your reactions, I send you a lot of love from here. Gracias Martin!!! Un gran abrazo desde 🇨🇱💜💜💜💜

I always forget to answer your question of the video. Just to go back, i have a double bias RM and J-Hope (the 94line) and it has nothing to do with the music. When it comes to the music, they are all to talented and i can listen to all of them all day. Whether it is group, unit or solo songs. I just gravitated to these 2 J-Hope right from the beginning and RM later as a got to know them more. As for when i became ARMY, it was in 2020 even though i was introduced to BTS in 2018 with the song "Fake Love" by my daughter. When covid hit and we were in lock down. I didnt have anything to do, so i took the deep dive into BTS and have not looked back. Now, my daughter regrets show me BTS. I am a way bigger fan than her now...haha and i think she has just got tired of me...haha
I have now gone to their concert in las vegas in 2021(i am 40 yr old and it was my first ever concert and it was amazing), and then i went to Agust D/Suga's concert last yr in LA (also amazing).

I became a BTS fan in March of 2021, so only 3 years ago. I was going through a rough time so when people say you find them just when you need them, that was true for me. Sadly though, I knew of BTS long before that but I slept on them without hearing a single song because I was never into boy bands. My mother was always fans of them but not me. Little did I know that they aren’t your typical boy band, which is probably why I like them. I could kick myself for being so closed minded for so long, I missed so much as it was happening. It’s an understatement to say I was ashamed of that. It wasn’t until my mother saw a Samsung commercial with them and she said “OMG there is this commercial with these beautiful Asian men, I like the song that was played too, I want to know who they are”. She was smitten in just one commercial lol. I said it’s got to be BTS since I knew they were mega popular. She asked “Who?”. I said only the biggest band from South Korea since probably the Beatles lol. So I watched the commercial and it was BTS. She wanted to know more so I said I would help her. As soon as I watched a video of them performing, I got yanked by the neck down the rabbit hole and I had to admit I was smitten too. Long story short, my mother and I bought all their music because we loved all the songs, even the rap when we typically were not into rap. It took my mom almost 3 years to pick a bias, which I recently learned is Jin. I picked my bias immediately, mine is Jungkook, but we both love them all. They got me to enjoy music again and I never laughed so much in my life because they are truly crackheads lol. You’ll see that more and more when you start watching their content like Run BTS, Bon Voyage and compilation videos fans have made. They really did pull me out of a dark place.
You’ve got a lot to watch, it’ll probably take you the next year to get through it all, by which time they’ll be out of the military and back together as a group. I do hope they also work on their solo careers too because it shows a different side to them all individually. You seem to be having fun, we love watching people go down the rabbit hole so keep it up! 😉💜

2018 my sister had been bugging me about this Korean Group and I kept thinking, how good can they be? I finally watched and fell down the rabbit hole quickly. Learned their names in the first 24 hours. Jin's lips were so big an juicy. I remember him right away. I remember RM, Jimin & Suga right away too but for some reason, I would stumble on V, JK & Jhope. They looked alike to me. But I slowly figured them out. Best decision of my life!

Your question of the day was when did I find BTS. Dynamite was what drew me in. You are watching it now and it’s bringing you a lot of joy. Now imagine the 1st time you saw it was during those bleak pandemic days…
Some people dismiss Dynamite, Butter and Permission to Dance (BTS’s 3 all English songs) as too lightweight and it’s certainly true they differ from their Korean & Japanese discography- but when you think of BTS’s intent - to bring joy to the ARMYS during such bleak times, then they become so meaningful

I love their Tiny Desk concert, it is refreshing and at the same time so emotional at the end. Spring Day is hitting so hard, it's such a beautiful song to which so many people who have lost a loved one can relate to... Thanks for reacting to it, can't wait for you to dive into more of their discography !
To answer your question : I discovered BTS in early 2020 through my best friend. And although everything she showed me was absolutely mind blowing, I didn't feel like it was the time for me to get into them more in depth (somehow I already knew that I would fall very deeply in the rabbit hole and I had too much on my plate). I've waited until 2022 to really dive in because I needed a distraction, something to hold on at the time. I already knew they were very promising artists so I jumped right in knowingly. What I didn't know tho, was how wonderful people they truly are and what good they're bringing to the world. The best decision ever.
I think that was faith somehow, for me to wait 2 years for diving in... Because getting into their music, their content and everything prevented me from going through a deep depression at that time, but most of all, it put words on some of my values that I already had in me but that I couldn't grab and define. When they say BTS comes into your life at the right time, that was very true for me.
Although I'm still relatively pretty new, going through their old content made me feel like I was a part of it for 10 years. I became an Army in such an accelerated way, it doesn't feel like only 2 years but more like half my life 😂 Again, best decision ever.

I was introduced to BTS in 2019 by my ARMY sister via Boy With Luv 💜
I didn’t get into them then or even listened to them outside of that song when she'd put it on in the car, but I could see how much my sister adored them so I would humor her interests by asking questions and listening to her long winded ramblings whenever the boys did something/a new Run episode came out, to the point that I started following a BTS update twitter just so I could be better prepared for her incoming spam texts.
I personally enjoy watching awards shows so when they performed at the Grammys with Lil Nas X, I was excited to see them on the tv and because of the update accounts I started following, I knew this was their first time attending and felt secondhand pride for them. Like watching my little sisters best friends achieve something cool.
Basically I had a soft spot for them in late 2019 despite never listening to their music and only knowing of them by association 😅
When they announced the Map of the Soul tour, I managed to get tickets for my sister and me because, again, I could see how much she loved them and I was intrigued enough to check them out despite still not listening to them. At this point, I was only in it to make my sister happy! Then On Kinetic Manifesto dropped and the timeline was in shambles over things and names I didn't understand so I decided it was finally time for me to check out a BTS song on my own and see what the hype was about and that was it. That was my first time actually listening to one of their songs and it was so beyond anything I'd ever heard yet exactly everything I ever wanted that I couldn't believe I had never listened to them before. The music was incredible, the visuals were stunning, the dancing was so fucking cool, and then I watched it again with captions and "gotta go insane to stay sane" and "even if my knees drop to the ground, as long as I don't get buried" actually changed my life. I immediately biased taehyung and slowly fell into a rabbithole of checking out other music videos, immediately liking what I heard and getting more and more excited to see them in concert in a few weeks (😅😂💔)
A couple days later, the carpool karaoke video dropped and showed up in my recommended and that was my first interaction with the tannies being well. the tannies. and that was the final nail that started the full on rabbit hole. it was truly a "I fell in love the way you fall asleep: slowly, and then all at once" moment for me.
now im truly in this bangtan shit for life 💜
side note: while mots tour ended up getting cancelled bc of covid, I am happy to say I got to see them during permission to dance in LA and then we saw yoongi during his d day tour (my ult bias; once I got to learn about the tannies personalities, i have never felt more understood and seen than by one min yoongi)

Honestly I like the live versions of all three of these songs more than the MV! Despite the fact that Spring Day MV is the iconic queen! j-hope doesn’t sing the opening lines of it in the original recording, but isn’t his voice beautiful live?! Also it’s so good when Jimin echoes Suga’s lines.
I used to watch a lot of kdramas, and heard of BTS in comments on those sites. I never would click on anything about them for years because my family already laughed at me for watching tv shows in a language I can’t read, speak, or understand without subs. Then in 2020 I saw a performance somewhere and needed to learn the names of these beautiful guys. Rest is history! Now I know their names, nicknames, backstories, and how they are even more beautiful inside as humble, talented, kind, chaotic, intelligent people. 💜
I was blessed to be able to see them live in 2021/22 and it was something so special. My family makes more fun of me now but I love myself so I don’t care🤣
I’m an older ARMY even though I think of myself as young, I’m 55. And I probably have way way too much merch! I’d give anything to see them again. I wish them nothing but joy for their whole lives, career and personally. 💜

i actually first heard of bts back in 2016 when blood sweat and tears came out, it was trending on twitter because of seokjin's kissing scene in the mv 🤭 i watched the mv then but not became a fan, just a casual listener of some of their songs. then 2021 came, just before they released a video of an animated butter melting (it is a teaser announcement for butter) i was so confused on what it is about because i was just starting to get to know them during that time then they released it 😆 the rest is history. i'm one of those army that found bts when i needed them the most 💜
also, spring day is probably my favorite song!! and probably the rest of korea because ever since it was released in 2017, spring day never left the top 100 charts in korea. it is always on the chart and will rise on the charts when there's a new release. speaking of spring day and since you mentioned it as well, yoongi's verse is about a certain friend of his which is also the friend he talks about in his song dear my friend (an emotional song as well), i think you've heard it already in his d-day concert? but the lyrics is 😭 if you haven't read it yet.

This Tiny Desk was during the pandemic and was filmed in Korea. That is why RM says its been the roughest summer ever. Spring day is a song of hope for ARMY even though it is about missing people, like during the pandemic or them being in the military and separated from each other and ARMY, etc. They always point us to that spring day that will come and we will be together again. 💜💜 Looked into BTS in September 2021 because of My Universe with Coldplay (have you watched this one?). Spring Day is such a special song. Suga did write his part about a friend of his where their paths diverged. It’s since been associated with a tragedy in SK because the MV has a lot of allusions to it. If you watch the MV, watch the explanation by Italian Army. It’s long and honestly an emotionally hard watch, but important. Spring Day was chosen because it’s all about longing and missing people, much like we all were during Covid.
When you watch the Save Me MV, watch the behind the scenes too. It was a one shot and you can see all that went into making that work.
As for when I became a fan, it actually took me two tries. The first, after their donation to BLM, was the wrong song to get me into them. The second was late 2021/early 22. Not the best timing. Lol
