They did that song during pre debut, Rosé was only 4 months old trainee (15 /16 years old) but bc of that she secured her spot as Blackpink's main vocalist. GD saw her potential as well! ❤️❤️❤️
GD is called “King of Kpop” and is one of the most influential idol in industry. Yes, he is main writer of the song and writes most of his and his group (Bigbang) songs. He is both a vocalist and a rapper. Coming to how the collab come into being, it is pretty common for Bigbang especially GD to promote debuting YG artists all the way from 2NE1 to treasure. Jennie collabed with GD twice, as a model for ‘That XX’ and featured in ‘Black’

FUN FACT: Rosé was only 2-3 months into training when GD's album was released in 2012, it is the same year Rosé joined YG and was only a few months old trainee when GD heard her voice.

you're right, it is a pretty song. g-dragon is a rapper, singer-songwriter and producer. he wrote the song and rosé was chosen to feat. when she was still a trainee. they're both under YG. you should check more of his discography. he did a song with jennie called "black" and it's a bop. they have a live performance together. you can check that along with the color coded lyrics if you want.
They never sang that live bc that time also during G-Dragon's concert Rosé wasn't revealed yet as Blackpink member so she's not allowed to come out and sing with G Dragon 😅

Yeah this was recorded when rosè was 3-4 month old trainee in 2012 when g-dragon's album was released same year. So at that time her voice was pretty different if u see her old trainee singing videos she had a different voice but the more she trained her voice changed because of her company.

This is Rosé's voice basically untrained. She said she hadn't found "her voice" and what works for her when this was released so it would sound different if she sung it now. iirc she said this in one of her lives.

Blackpink and Bigbang are my favorite groups I'm so happy you checked this collab. GD included Rosé on this song because he liked her voice being a trainee and same with Jennie for his song 'Black' and in 'That XX' as actress for the MV.
This song didn't age very well because autotune was very used in those years but now sounds bad. 'Black' featuring Jennie aged better and there are a live performance together on a music show. GD in BigBang is like Jennie in Blackpink (I'm not comparing, is only to explain his role) he is the main rapper of the group but can sing as well as rap.
I hope you check more BigBang/G-Dragon, they are icons and trendsetters (especially GD as leader). GD paved the way for the kpop we know today with lightsticks, idols being able to write/produce their own songs and not only the company, change the hairstyles each comeback and maaaaaaany other things.
BigBang did a comeback last april as group after four years of hiatus and they broke so many records in South Korea. And now GD is preparing his next solo album.
Yeah, that was Rosé’s predebut, untrained, non develop voice before. When she was just starting to be a trainee and basically learning how to sing and finding her own tone of voice and developing it further. If you look back and compare her voice to her YG audition clip and her singing WYLMITE with this, she had the same vocal style.

talking about writing songs, GD and Bigbang are the first ever kpop idol to write and produce their own songs in kpop industry before them kpop idols were just releasing songs from producers.. more specifically YG always been on producing and writing own song since the start of the company but the debut of Bigbang created the wave in whole kpop industry... Rosé was just 2-3 months into her training when she recorded this song she was just new in YG but GD heard her voice during her practice so he suggested YG (the boss) to have a collab with Rosé and then this song is born.. Jennie also did her predebut collab with GD...
