Just finished this game and your commentary is dead on. Honourable mentions though:
- Driving everywhere is a pain.
- Sorting out malaria pills is a pain.
- Gun jams right when it's at the worst time.
- Getting run over sucks.
- Bus stop isn't near objective.
- Diamond suitcases quickly become a waste of time.
- Got a nice car? not for long buddy.
- Can't drive through any outpost without getting chased.
- Can't empathise this enough: you get chased to the ends of the god damn earth.
- Everyone talks really fast without stopping.
- Don't form attachments to buddies, they will die in some stupid way.
- You can save whenever, so safehouse saving is just pointless.
- Buggy is the best vehicle, hands down.
- There's one glider I found, but it was a gimmick if anything.
- You will appreciate fast travel in other games like never before.
- Becoming scary to other mercs is a powerful feeling like nothing else, lol.
- Is everyone here Australian? like what?
- Animals are nice, but they're décor until Far Cry 3.
- Stranded without a car? hope you like walking.
- Running will get you not far. It sucks.
- When the game says a buddy is missing, they'll come back in the end to ruin your day.
All in all, good game though.

i remember playing this game as kid and the start of this game with ubisoft is what i remembered and the music but as i played not 1 mission this game is so depressing and sad and lonely it makes me feel worse and i stopped farcry franchaise is getting good after farcry 3
In FC2 getting to the objective is still playing the game, unlike most where it's just a buffer between missions.

@@fire_tower It would be simply playing the game if they didn't keep breaking their own logic. FC2 definitely tried to have the most grounded gameplay with realistic aspects but all those gun jams would go to waste when those road outposts kept spawning.
My theory is that you are the Jackal. You heard the rumours of an unknown arms dealer who supplied weapons to both sides in many wars and went to kill him, but in the process you became the very thing you swore to destroy, assisting both sides of the war for your own personal gain.
Your meetings with the Jackal are just hallucinations or confusional states caused by malaria and your faulty medicines. At the end of the game your buddies end up betraying you, fearing that you would do the same to them in the future, as they know your history of playing both sides in the war.
Notice how the very last time you meet the Jackal (You meeting yourself in a hallucination) he is carrying a flare gun. You basically set up the TNT and exploded it from a distance with your flare gun and then you safely carried the diamond case to the border. The shooting sound effect heard at the end of the cutscene does not imply that you have killed yourself, it implies that you fired the flare gun to explode the TNT from a distance. Jackal's body (your body) was never found, because you are alive and well prepared to travel the world to assist both sides in the next armed conflict.

That's an interesting perspective. I had similar thoughts for a while but Reuben's tapes confirm the Jackal's existance.

Thats a good point. But i dont believe thats the case because before you play the game you can select from Mutiple characters and the ones you don't pick are your allies. Which dont even look like the Jackal

Spent 100+ hour just to buy everything in the game. After I finished the game I felt it was rather pointless. One of the good games that has the worst endings of all.

@@Stinky1amI found the story to be decent. They portray the gritty nature of a civil war and the power struggle that ensues pretty well. It shows how you become a monster in the end.
@@insanity4082 idk man, like i enjoyed the game but to be honest with you the story is just shallow. Nothing you really do matters, and when the story just starts to get good it hits you with a ridiculous ulimatum ending that just seems out of place.
You spent the whole game playing as a mercenary, whos only there for money. You work for both sides so you cant really choose one or the other, your just making money off it. You (character) doesnt care about the african people. Your there for money. You get to the very end and your face to face with the guy that nearly kills you 3 times and let him talk you into sacrificing yourself for the people that you spent the whole game not caring about, with the only real reason being your deadly but also treatable disease. Farcry 2 needs a very very good remake to justify having the same ending to the game.

That mercenary certainly has a record for falling unconcious. Jason Brody is pretty the same because of his "insanity" as mentioned by Vaas.
Rlly appreciate your videos. Been on a sick break today, trying to finish Far Cry 2, which I started playing like two years ago, but haven't finished it until now. This vid not just gave me the context of the story, which I left the game in back then, but the best thing about it is the discovery of this wonderful channel! Saw almost all of your videos today, your narration and editing are both progressive in storytelling and funny, looking for further uploads. I never thought, I was going to hear the story of the games, which I bought on Steam at some point, but never had the time and motivation to grind them thorugh. Keep the amazing work!

Just completed the game. I don't get it how the MC dies if he chooses diamonds. Jackal says something about shot in the head, but what if MC does not wanna shoot himself? Or maybe the disease's got us? Probably an open ending...

And the failure of Farcry is that you cannot affect the outcome at all, no matter what. Not afetr doing all the buddie missions building rep up to try to affect the outcome. Nothing. Afetr many hours roaming the world and having to repeat engage outposts you jsu cleared, the second you drive 20 feet away, your buddies (the toughest fight) attack no matter what.

Far cry is crazy every game has a different story line simar to the events that really took place around the world but with a twist this sounds like South sudan
Just finished this today, it was insane, twas crazy good. i skipped the telecom missions though, and diamond cases are still yet to be explored, i thought the game could be resumed somehow

used to play this game like 6 years ago, had over 700+ hours of gameplay, recently downloaded it again ,
the story is good, (not that good, but i like it)
kinda sad because of how the game ends
also you cant sprint so far, only a small distance before you get tired, also you sprint like a snail🏃♂🥈
weapons also jam more frequently, i know rusted weapons are not good but the jam too frequently🔫
driving in the middle of no where and got chased by some enemies and you stopped to kill them, and accidentally destroyed your vehicle also while doing so?

i was a bit confused at first, you know in the story, you try to find this Jackal dude supporting both sides of the enemies, until you find out your doing the same in the story, makes me wonder if i am the Jackal, any way weird stuff.😵
enemies have eyes of an eagle, and have fast and furious driving skill, 👁
the game has silenced weapons, but i find it really hard to go stealthily,
literally like 90% of the time your driving (i don't know about you, but for me its true)🚗
After the story, you either uninstall the game or start new game (i used to have a few saved files after i unlocked everything, i just saved in some places so i can enjoy and explore the game more, bcz after the story ends you have to start a new game)😭

I know that feel. It took me atleast 2 or 3 weeks to complete the story. The last part of the game is okay, but the rest is meh.

Tried to replay this game recently, and even when it wants to work on modern pcs the voice acting and passing was insane. Kinda unplayable after wall these years, too bad because I remember loving it when it came out
Voice acting is good, maybe Americans are too used to people exagerating their emotions that don't know how a person talks xD

Absolutely horrendous game, more than 80% of the time seems to be spent driving between quest locations and every f*****g time you get in a car some a******s belonging to god knows what faction starts chasing you until they blow up your car or you reach your destination. This game was released at about the same time as Fallout 3, Fable II, GTA IV, Halo 3 and Mass Effect 1, all excellent games and going into Far Cry 2 you might expect a similar gaming experience or at least something close to Assassin’s Creed 1’s quality but no, you get something more or less completely unplayable. I wanted to play through this game as I’ve played all other FC games, but I began spending 3h downloading patches and fixes to even be able to pass the tutorial without crashing or freezing the game and after about 5h of tedious, buggy gameplay I decided to just skip this PoS game and watch a story recap instead. Your video showed up first and it seems like I’m not missing out on anything skipping this one in the franchise, great vid though, thanks for letting me vent.
