My dude over her flexin in his bare feet acting like it’s nothing. If I did that, I’d be at the hospital in like 10 mins
his hands tho...jergins?
Believe me... I've even commented before about him chopping wood while barefoot... EEEEeeesh!!
Maybe it’s his comfort zone
Yup lol
I feel comfortable working with my boot on...I need a new pair...lol. (red wing flat tread for my perfession). Even on personal work I wear them. Thanks Dad for teaching me (Robert Edger C. 1925-2004).
I’ve been wearing no watches and 2 shoes, been doing it backwards this whole time
Best comment
Gold
Yooooooooo! 😂
😂😂😂😂 definitely best comment, I didn’t even notice the two watches till I read this comment and had to go back and check
He's living in two different time zones.
Don’t forget the two most important parts of this technique: 1) be barefoot and 2) wear two watches
Why is he wearing 2 watches? Neither look like a sport watch
And be sure to roll your pants up at least 4 inches.
rule of no thumbs: 2 shoes, no watch
rule of thumb: no shoes, 2 watches
Its possible he wore two watches and had barefeet because he knew people would comment about it and boost his videos interaction stats for the algorithm. Lots of youtubers do stuff like that or they state an incorrect fact in the video because they know people cant help but correct someone
no, one is set to US Forest Service Time and the other is set to Local Fuji Time.
"Always chop wood in bare feet so the blocks of wood or hatchet can fall and break your toes."
Maybe your sensitive little city boy toes.
@@Stevie8654 You got those
When I was a kid we chopped a lot of wood, and a friend of mine was barefoot and split his foot up the middle
@@robertspikes1376 Sounds like he had sensitive city boy feet
@@human678 lololol yeah. That Steve James guy with that comment, I'd like to see how tough he is. I don't think he could handle the lifestyle we grew up in. As far as of feet are concerned, I don't care where you're from, drops a piece of firewood, or an axe on your toe it's going to hurt !!
Bare feet, fireplace, denim tuxedo, relaxing music. The Forest Service has changed 😂
He was fired from the forest service, he’s got a video pretty recently about why, and why he still makes forest service videos
And 2 watches😂
"Denim tuxedo" 🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@dylankagan28 I mean you really think that’s why he was fired? Seems weird to me. He is very petty with the US Forest Service stuff in my opinion. I love him but like come on lol
he hasn't changed, hes always barefoot

It’s good to see he keeps multiple bandanas on display, they should come in handy to stop the bleeding from missing toes.
I can't wait to see the video on how the U.S. Forest Service gets maximum life out of their boots.
By not wearing them
Boots?! We don't need no stinking boots!!!
Hahahha
I felt like he was messing with us while still giving some valid information 🤣
THIS. I need boot info
No wonder I can't do it I always wear boots never knew that was the secret lol
Until you drop a log or god forbid the axe on your foot
gotta get your toes in the dirt to draw forth the power of mother nature
It's best to split wood, tripping on mushrooms, barefoot, at night...
This guy is such a tool.
Always wear your Rolex
The fact that he can fairly easily pick up the unsplit log means it is well seasoned and dried out. That's the most important thing to do.
Fir splits easier green
Or he has actual muscle because he does real work.
Ya.. .I tried splitting a round from a "Tree of Heaven" which had been outside soaking for a year and it was a NOPE. Dry wood requires planning. And space. Or both.
US Forest Service recommends splitting wood with no footwear... For stability. And to stay grounded.
Cody doesn't even look comfortable walking around the shop barefoot, im sure wearing two watches was part of the gag too
Bwahahaha!!!
I'm just trying to figure out what brand and model that maul is
He knows how to get comments to boost algorithm
@@bagochips834 I think it’s the helke werk vario 2000
gag? he’s quite serious lol hes a weirdo he used to wear wooden shoes
United States forest service never split 1 piece of wood in its history, if they supplied wood they bought it
The real way the U.S. Forest Service splits firewood...they have a contract to buy it from someone that actually works.
thats lovely straight grain.... i remember having to split gnarled, knotty wood when i was a kid
And don’t forget your safety boots lol
Step 4: shoes
I do it with crocs in sport mode
@@CC--my5fv I call that Four Wheel Drive 4X4
If you position your feet shoulder width apart the axe shouldn't get close to your feet even if you miss

How the United States Forest Service sews a toe back on.
Nice. He has a video about clogs.
For that one can ask the Dutch equivalent of US forest service 'Staatsbosbeheer' about wooden shoes. ;-)
When i was working as a stone mason with my uncle almost ten years ago, i was taught to swing a sledge by throwing it straight up and pulling it down, as it wastes energy to swing it around and from behind your head, he mentioned thats also how you swing an axe, all these years later i see some influencers swinging axes wrong “looking” strong and swinging into super soft wood. No surprise to me that you have such elegant form and of course first class knowledge. Love your content
And the driest, straight grained piece of wood you could split one handed with a 1 1/2 lb hatchet!!😂 Perfect representation of the forest circus
dry wood is harder to split...
@@tervaient3652 You obviously haven't split much wood... Grab a piece of Cottonwood and tell me that!
You can split clear Tamarack like that with a screwdriver!

West Coast wood, splits with an Estwing framing hammer if your maul is more than a step or two away. give him some of our gnarly east coast red oak... even my 5 foot wife manages a 12 pound wedge... 8 pounders are for middle schoolers...

Barefoot in a workshop chopping wood triggers all warning signals in my head…🙈
ya this guys not laping at all haha
I’m convinced the bear foot thing is him cultivating thicc calluses for a time when shoes are no longer readily available. This man is the ultimate prepper
I think the words that you're looking for are; BARE feet and THICK calluses or CALLI. 👌
He has the feet of a bear?? Like... grizzly? Polar???
Like an expert seamstress!
Those don’t look like bear feet to me. They look human-ish.
@@Im2Old4ThisShite there was no mistake
I always chop my wood in the lounge in bare feet with no shin protection, gloves etc.
Two other things:
1. Polypropylene handles don't shear like wooden ones can
2. Use an old car tyre around the wood you're chopping - prevents logs flying around, speeds things up massively and saves your back from picking every single piece up off the floor.
Hey I just want to stop and say thanks to you for all the time you put in to your content I know that it’s probably not much to you but over the years I’ve had the pleasure of men like you taking the time to show me the things I never really got from the other people in my life and it makes a difference thank you
He did it again.. He made sure his hoofs were in the shot lol 😂
I'll bet someone put them up on wikiFEET.

Have ice on hand so you carry your severed toes to the ER.
Next video: How to reattach your toes.
If you are worried about hitting your feet when chopping wood then you probably shouldn't be chopping wood.
If you don't know how to split wood... a pair of shoes isn't gonna save your little piggies! FYI... You should be putting them in ice cold milk!
How tf would you hit your toes 💀💀💀
@@Leanflare ah, a person who lives in the fantasy world of 100% predictability. I bet he would never smash the glass on the front of his woodstove either. Anticipation of consequences are lacking in many amongst our species. 😆

That was the most in depth wood splitting tutorial I’ve ever had. Props for the barefoot method as well, I thought only us hicks in the south did it like that! 😂
Wishing I could save this vid.
Love the level of troll from Cody these days. The 2 watches, no boots. lmao He's looking more and more like he lives in Seattle. xD
Is it trolling? I can’t tell lol
It has to be a joke
He’s serious
Bro he's Idaho Seattle
It's not trolling when it's every single time..🤣🤣 homie just went from cool to tool...it's ok he still entertains me...😁
That is the best safety wood splitting video that I’ve ever seen! WAIT, I think I saw BARE FEET?! WTF 😳 Wait just one minute, this has to be a watch ad? I’m soooo confused!
I like your technique. It’s simple, straightforward, doesn’t compromise accuracy.
Bro, finally somebody splitting wood with a maul and not an axe they call a maul. This guy is legit👍
There’s splitting axes and splitting mauls
Actually, that isn’t a splitting maul. It is the Helko Werk “ Heavy Universal Axe” from their Vario 2000 line. I have the exact model, and I love it.
Man we just use a block buster it's like a cross between a sledge hammer and and axe
@@shaynegadsden same here. It kills me how all these how to split videos use wood that could be split with a dull butter knife. I'd like to see them split some southern Live Oak. That stuff is like concrete and just about as heavy.
The amount of times I’ve dropped things on my foot in a shop…ain’t no way I’m walking around barefoot. 🙏🏼 prayers for Cody’s pinky toe.
Seriously, I broke a toe in my kitchen (not even working 🤣... Not gonna catch me doing any kind of work without boots on.
It's a mistake most people only make once 😄
I cannot believe how enjoyable these videos that I'd never have looked for are!
Hey man call me crazy but I moved from Florida to Wisconsin and bought a house w my family we love it and your videos taught me how to chop fire wood for the long winter! Thanks a lot!
Yay for splitting knot-free softwood! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
I want a tour of this guy's house.
That would be awesome..

Are we not gonna talk about how pristine my boys jeans are?
Cody is dapper af.
They mikes too long
Doesn't have enough sense to buy the right length jeans. Why cuff if you don't have to.
He splits when necessary instead of all at once?
Why would someone buy jeans 8” too long ?
"Who hurt you?"
"The U.S. Forest Service."
"How do we know that to be true?"
"Because I will mention them in everything that I do."
Is there something wrong with that? Dude loved his job, I've been in a similar situation where I lost a job that I loved and everyone I worked with was great, I had a better time at that job then at home.
Thank you, Log Daddy! LOL! Love all your vidz! I have def learned a lot!
I'm still absolutely convinced this man had a mental episode last year.
The outfits were hilarious
What does the US Forest Service say about footwear in the workshop? 😂😂😂
That splitting maul is absolutely elite! 😮 I wish I can get one of those somehow. Honestly, I wish I could meet this dude and spend the weekend at his place.
Ur the youtube dad everyone needs but most don't know they need u
Cody , you set yourself up for criticism by not wearing boots in the shop. I love that splitting axe.
That's a nice splitting wedge. I have to find one.
I want the maul too!! Who made that?
This is better than any of your recent content
Like watching an Olympic gymnast explain his routine.
I want to see the part where he accidentally chops through his foot
Where I was a C.C.C. "corpy", the way the Forest Service split firewood was, have the "corpys" do it, and God bless them, I actually learned a lot, and gained a bunch of confidence and skill by doing it.
That’s a chill forest service uniform.
Hi wranglestar, can I ask about the two watches ? Love the videos and find all the tips to be great helps in life and work ! 🙌
One ticks forward in time and the other ticks backwards
I think one thing I have heard is one watch will carry your birth time, the other your regular
Also, one may be a backup,
Also, could just be timezone
@@happytrails5342 I thought one was for metric time and one for imperial time

West coast vs East coast.
This proves he is the forest service all himself. He wears two watches to keep track of both inland and coast times
I really enjoy your instructional vids
Thanks Cody (hope I spelled it right)
These shorts are straight to the point and easy to absorb. Please keep them up
Make sure ya do it indoors, barefoot, with a watch on each wrist and 6 inch rolled up cuffs on your jeans.
Pretty easy to split soft wood like to see you split an old yellow birch or some sugar maple that easy lol.
Yeah let's see him pop a red oak log opened like that! Nope. Gotta put your back into that swing for sure. WACK!! Real good.
And always be sure to practice this technique safely while not wearing anything on your feet
Top tip from "Not the US Forest Service", but a professional firewood processor:
If you're splitting by hand, you want your block to be 12-16" tall . If you've got one as tall as he is using, you lose half of your splitting power by making contact before your full swing potential. Plus you have to lift the wood way higher each time you set it on the block. That may not sound like a big deal, until you split several cord per day. Then that little extra energy expense becomes very taxing.
What a beautiful chopping block. I wish we had lumber that big to use
You have great videos, thank you.
I was a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division from 72-76 and near my discharge I was thinking about becoming a smoke jumper for the Forest Service. And when I did my research back in early 1976 before I got out, I read that paratroopers are immediately disqualified from becoming a smoke jumper. I was told, 'The Army does it there way and we do it ours and never the twain will meet.' True story. So ten years later and I became an FBI agent. Bwhaaa.
Congratulations on the 2011 retirement. Enjoy

Don't follow anything the government suggests or tells you to do.
That is a Beautiful Wall Love That Timber ❤
Love that chopping block you got ready to rock !
How to US forest service says Goodby to there toes.
the federal government splitting that round would take them 3 or 4 wks and they would charge the taxpayers 30k.
Did I just watch a dad type figure telling me how to swing an axe lol 😂
I started whispering”Jesus”on the downstroke and it splits better👍
If every person who asked about the two watches would read the comments section first, there’d only be comments about being barefoot.
My toxic trait is watching RUclips videos thinking ya I can do that than loss a toe
This is how the US fire service stays warm and comfy this winter
The handkerchiefs hanging to dry..so cute
What axe are you using?
Helko Werk Vario 2000. They make a whole range with modular parts
I would like to know too. As would others. I would think this video would promote sales and with several requests the name would get revealed but I guess not. Maby my few replies will help get some attention. "What company manufactures the axe?"
My granddad's anger over your bare feet was predictable when I showed him this video.
Thanks so much
I found 1 of those chopper 2s splitting axe ...worked awesome Lol
How the ProHo GigaChad flexes on east coast man…all the best Cody. 🇺🇸
The safety Sally's are going wild watching this 😂😂😂
Bare feet right next to his glass doors. With the pristine condition of that shop me thinks he’s done this a few times 😂
Was waiting for a east coast joke about the weight of the axe
This is definitely the city version of how to properly swing an ax💁♂️😂
THANK YOU.
No. Not really. Unless you're doing something other than splitting wood, which this guy isn't.
This is the yuppy version, lol. The country version is just "get it done."
I thought it was a joke fail and the wood was gonna smash his wood stove glass.
Thanks for sharing , after watching I realized I've been struggling all these years by having the point towards me!
The fact you do these things without shoes. My toes are trembling.
It's great to see.... he's wearing his Samoan safety boots, to demonstrate this operation.
"This is how the US Forest service maintains the job security of orthopedic surgeons."
If you toss on a beanie I think you could pull off being Tim Pool for Halloween
lol, but who would want to
It usually takes me 3 to 4 strikes to split something like that. My dude just whispered straight through it while giving me a tutorial. I swear Cody could just look at it, raise an eyebrow and it will split out of fear.
He didn't add you don't strike the middle of the block, you work from the outside in. This guy might need to relearn some things before he teaches on youtube.
@@MrZenwise did you even watch the video... ??
