Sorry, but there is a mistake in your description. This variety came originally from my orchard, and I live in a high humid zone (north-west of Spain) where there is almost no week without a rainy day (even in summer). So, Galicia Negra is very resistant to humid zones.
I agree. There a lady named Jan on RUclips from Florida and says it never spoils and love humidity so idk, could be the area.
im down for more reviews too. even if u just throw on the cam and do an unedited clip like 5-10 min of you talking while trying them. doesnt have to be professional or super organized or anything like that. just something to watch
Thanks Ross, I live on Ohio, and you always let us know what grows well for you... Which is very helpful 😊
This is a great review, I’m trying to grow a cutting of this. My climate is dry, hot South Texas.
Looks amazing!
Wow! What a big beautiful fruit! I think I would like more of a berry flavored fig. Just trying to make sure I don’t kill my current fig, then I will move on to other flavors haha.
Is there any way to salvage splitting figs from getting any worse while still allowing them to ripen?
I wish there were a way to to keep them from splitting in the first place, maybe, A butterfly bandage or one of those little circle bandaids and just stick it right on the hole lol.
I mean, that's where the weak point is right, the rest of the fruit can handle the stretch (at least a bit more)?? If this is anything that could work they also have those waterproof superthin vinyl bandaids I bet that would work really well (if the idea itself ends up being of any value in the first place)
A consistently moist soil will stop splitting. I did this last year with plastic bags where I completely controlled the water. There's a few videos on it. These figs didn't split though. They crack and have an open eye.
@@RossRaddi I will go check the video, thanks. I have a clay based soil here that can be difficult sometimes.
I have been looking at a fig at the Montserrat Pons site FrenchFigFarm, and there's one i'm looking to get that I don't think i've seen you review, the CDD Cuitat. I am very eager to try it, though a small tree is $249 so i'm holding out on that one til I can some feedback from a reliable source.
When I find a new variety the thing to do is see how it passes the Ross test lol, so i'm eager to hear if you've had a go with it yet.
Looking good! Curious on what your production is like with your orchard?, i know every variety is different and environment also has a lot to do with it as well but I love the fruit I can eat them by the pound!
I will buy the tree
Bigger fruit more difficult to grow than small or medium size. Especially in a place with a short season.
Ross, Please explain the pollination thing. I’m not sure how that works. I did keep the canopies less dense.
Hi Ross- which video describes your latest favorite soil mix for a young potted fig tree?
So amazing
Can you do a mulberry tree video? Thanks!
Next year. We did just do one on morus nigra though.
Hi Ross
Great knowledge and easy to listen to, what size pots are you using for this variety?
Thanks Mike Australia 🇦🇺
It shares a 20g pot.
Ross I want some cuttings
I don't grow this variety anymore! Sorry.
I’ve been looking for Galicia Negra for a while, I’m in CA, would you recommend any site where I can buy cuttings? Thanks!!!
I wonder how much that weighs
Probably 60-80g
Have you had a problem with your figs ripening over the last 4 weeks. I’m up in Rochester NY with 61 trees and it seems like we we stalled. I have figs drying out and falling with only a few ripening. Leaves turning yellow but they are not over watered.
Are they all common? Fallen figs usually means not enough water.
Assuming they don't need pollination.
Ross Raddi I’m thinking the yellow leaves could have been caused because some of my pots need to be root pruned this fall. I was actually concerned that they have been getting too much water. Over the past month we just haven’t had the warm temps.
Ross Raddi I was in Havertown, PA visiting my son 3 weeks ago. I was short on time but wanted to visit you if you weren’t that far away and pick up a few trees. How far are you from Havertown?
please i want this
