    When not assassinating Hydra's enemies, the Winter Soldier likes to do a bit of fig gardening.

    Good night Ross,
    my name is António. I am from Portugal, 40 km northwest of Lisbon (Sobral de Monte Agraço) and figs have been always present in my life. Your fig collection is really impressive as well your knowledge on fruit trees....
    I have got a fig tree that has been producing figs for seven generations of my family. It is a "moscatel" fig tree. In other regions of Portugal is called "pingo de mel". it is a extra sweet green variety with yellow pulp. But we also have other varieties like the "rebanquio" and the " corigo" fig. During the seventies and the eighties we use to take our breakfast at the fig trees. Those were the best figs i have ever tasted. It was quite common in Portugal that figs were eaten by the fig trees as breakfast when they were still fresh with the night dew.
    Rebanquio fig tree reminds me the "verdino del norte" you have described. Actually i have two kinds of rebanquio one with a yellowish pulp the other with a deep red colour. The last one is really crunchy, sweet and last year i had been eating them till november because they resist rain very well. "Corigo" is a brown round fig prone to splitting and with a milder sweetness. Of my fig collection i also have "rei branco" and "rei preto" two varieties from southern Portugal , "preto de torres" from central Portugal and "figo de são João" that comes in late june early july, in my region.
    i wish you all the best and keep your work with the
    fig trees

    I just started collecting figs starting in 2020, I am up to 50+ cultivars, and I finally got the Figoin yesterday after work. I was able to grab two rooted cuttings from a fellow local hobbyist. Really excited for this variety due to all of the hype, I can't wait to taste the intense berry flavor of this fig that I've heard so much about. I only have a couple more figs that I want to get, including BNR and Calderona de Miner, but I am getting close to having every fig that I could possibly want (I hope).

    Ross, I use organic cedar oil to repel mosquitos and other insects. This is what the natural mosquito treatment companies spray in your yard as well and smells good when you spray it on your skin. You can find it on Amazon searching Wondercide outdoor pest control in concentrate that you mix with water in your own spray bottle.

    Nice video I might try to find that fig as well. Man you could use a big green house to grow all those figs in to control rain fall and the cold.

    Small fruit is preferred in a short season climate. My cherry tomatoes and medium sized tomatoes ( black Prince and Ukrainian purple ) do better here in Denver zone 6 than the beefstake tomatoes.

    Hey Ross! Is this from Belfiore? I ordered Verdino del nord from them amongst others but when I got it the label said only Vedrino. I saw other listings with “Verdino” only. Are those two different, or is verdino del nord= verdino? Thanks!

    • @RossRaddi
      @RossRaddi  4 года назад +1

      It very well could be. I would call them. Their Verdino listed in the catalog fits the description: www.vivaibelfiore.it/catalogo/pdf/catalogo.pdf

Kidding bro keep reviewing. By the way maybe one day you can do a giveaway baby fig plant, that would be cool bro. Anyway happy figgin and thanks for the updates.

      Ross is in USDA Zone 7A too, in the Philadelphia area. He does grow many of his figs in the ground, but protects them in winter. Here’s one of his videos on his process of doing that: ruclips.net/video/vOUukGOTpsc/видео.html

    Avon Skin So Soft mixed 50/50 with water was always good against mosquitoes and no see ums in Florida. I haven’t bought any in a while. Also, rubbing Bounce fabric softener on your skin, and then put the sheet under your hat.

    • @TheRealHonestInquiry
      @TheRealHonestInquiry 10 месяцев назад +1

      Do not rub Bounce fabric softener on your skin, that stuff is toxic. It shouldn't even be used on clothes for that same reason, it contains hormone disruptors such as xenoestrogens that go straight to your bloodstream through your skin (since you didn't eat it there is no filtration system).

      Campaniere is one of the earliest varieties in existence. VdN should ripen about 2 weeks later.
