I am 48 years old now. Of course Im not popping and break dancing any more. These movies were major contributions to my identity. My pops took me and my sibligs to watch these movies at the drive in theaters. While many were watching the movie. I was with many others dancing on a card board near teh snack bar. I eventually moved on to the Army and became a professional chef. There are not moments that I dont remember the break dancing era. Thank you for bringing back the memories.
Great tribute. The summary in the last few seconds of this tribute of what Breakin and Hip Hop are all about is just beautifully worded. Breakin will still be a classic in another 30 years.
Excellent my friend. I started bboying in 1981 & continued for about 33 years. I can tell you now, this film was genius & created many a memory. I remember going to the cinema to watch it with my cousin on a Saturday morning, then going home & pulling out the cardboard/lino & cassette player, practising for hours every day. A few months later the soundtrack came out & we bought that. Lucinda, Michael & Adolfo were our idols they were like gods. It never matters how many times I watch the movie I always get emotional over it, it just a had a heart & unity to it, we as young kids could relate. Sure Beat Street was harder & truer, I love Beat Street but, Breakin had a kind of magical feeling about it, it made you feel a sense of hope a freedom to express yourself in the truly incredible art of bboying. I watched Electric Boogaloo & I can't remember the interviews with Lucinda, Michael or Adolfo being on there, they may have cut them out. Breakin is for me the best dance film ever made, it's a classic.
Best track from the MOVIE BREAKIN. It was used as the closing scene right? Good lyric & killer bassline I thought I was the only person who really dug it.
I love the 80s we had fun and love now it's just hate on another y y y we can't just get alone again and have fun doing it hip hop style like the old days.
This movie, and Beat Street, were such a part of my young teenage years, I loved the movie and still do. I recorded it on VHS lol! I watched it constantly. If looked at objectively, I agree with the narrators assessment of the movie, and I think Beat Street is probably a better film(although both aren't objectively good movies). However, that being said, they are enormously enjoyable, the music, the fashions, and of course the dancing. I love the soundtrack to this film, not only the songs he featured, but there is Art Of Noise's Beat Box, 99 1/2 by Carol Lynn Townes, Hot Streak's Body Work, Tibetan Jam by Chris "The Glove" Taylor(a very deep electro track). Superb!
Great work. I remember playing this movie over and over when I was younger. Brings back good memories of my childhood. Definitely a classic. Thanks for the upload. Hope they have a DVD out there somewhere. Got to get it. Just got the back to the future trilogy also. Good stuff!
Excellent Work Sir. Watched Break'in at the Cinema age 14 and immediately fell in love. Became one of the best Popper's in my City and lived the Life. Break'in was an Absolute Classic. Electric Boogaloo was an embarrassment to everyone involved and most of the fan's. Should have been a great film. Nevermind. Still can't stop poppin when a good beat come's on age 48. Bruno 'Poppin Taco Falcon was my idiot and Shrimp a very close second. When' Breakin' came off the Cinema, after I'd watched it 14X, i cried. When Boogaloo came out and i watched that, i cried again!....
Thank's so much for this!. I was 14 in 84 breakin released. My eyes 'Popped' , get it! 😄, out my head. I watched it around a dozen times at the pics and cried when it finished . Not as much as when Electric came out though!😣. Embarrassment!. I practiced like mad and became the best Popper in my area, then one ofthe if not THE best in my city. Best 5 year's of my life, met some great people who I'll never forget and got respect, friendship and peace. Thank You to everyone who made that possible, most of all to 'Breakdance the movie'......
Brilliant job mate! - I was a breaker then -like your bro, crashing into furniture ! I always thought this film never got the respect it deserves for showing West coast Hip Hop/Electro etc -So well done for the research - few bits even i didn't know, and I'm a bit of a Breakin geek!! :)
I was 9 when Breakin was released. Saw it in the theater. Went to a multi cultural elementary school in Florida where most of us were already popping and moonwalking mostly due to the massive effect Michael Jackson had on everything starting the year before. The children of Thriller as I call it. Seeing Breakin’ just threw fuel on the fire. I’ve always said that era was pure magic in that everyone seemed to be groovin together in the same direction. Spent many weekends in the skating rinks breakin and I think I saw one fight amongst some older teens. All that changed as hip-hop took on a harder edge and the attitude of being tough or gangster just kept increasing in influence. Still love this movie.
Excellent analysis, a classic film, fun and very well presented, easily seen in all nationalities around the world, today we have nothing like that in the cinema, we just have to miss it. Congratulations, success and prosperity to the channel. 👏👏👏👏👏👍😐🇧🇷
This is one of the best videos that I've seen on RUclips. I kept literally applauding it at times. The channel was not upgraded. One video came out 16 years ago. The owner could have been as big as Mr Beast. Perhaps they have another channel. RIP to all who have passed away.
Good times, I was in middle school when these movies came out and we met Shabba-Doo during the filming. I was born and raised a few miles from East L.A. Great vid👍 Boogaloo Shrimp taught Michael Jackson the moon walk.
When l was 12 we rode our bikes to see Breakin 2 in the theater. ln 2009 l found a DVD set of Breakin and Breakin 2 for $5us dollars at Wal Mart. Last night my wife and l watched 2. Great movies.

This is so well made. Thanks for putting this together. I grew up on these movies.

Great video thank you. Question, was that special edition of Electric Boogaloo released?
Fab Fabe . I don’t think that’s a ‘special edition’. I believe it was the just the European Blue Ray release.
did you all notices van dame? look at minute 0:50?. he's there.
Fuck what a great video this was, thanks for sharing the truth.

9:50 I used to love her....!!
I've always looked for the track that starts at 8:10. In the movie it's the scene when they first walk in to the club. Any idea what it's called?
