Watching this now with a mix of emotions. Brings back memories of being a kid and my much older brother introducing me to this movie. He loved it. Seeing him trying to breakdance around the house. Happy, funny memories but tinged with sadness after losing him this year. Seems silly but this is the film that will always make me think of him.
@ 00:8 when he said Ozone! and the beat dropped, everyone in the theater started clapping ...I'm clapping now RIP Shabba Doo, condolences to your family, friends and fans worldwide.
This was the first movie that gave young people a sense of power channeled through their creativity and passion. It also brought African-American swag to the rest of the globe that exists to this day!!
Each generation brings in a new style of music. Little Richard, james brown, elvis presley, the beatles, the rolling stones on and on. Little Richard and elvis had to put up with loads of criticism. Finally dignity was given to little Richard and elvis but they had to put up with a lot. Hugs to all. May music 🎵🎶🎵🎶🎵🇺🇸 live forever.
I RAN this movie all summer when it came out-we had a line as wide as the sidewalk and down a full block on Woodward Avenue in Detroit (yeah, there were still a few neighborhood theaters there in 1984) for most of the show's run. The only thing nuttier was the "celebration" when the Tigers took the World Series that fall.
Man I was only 9 years old when Breaking (Movie) came out... Best movie ever and still is!!!❤️ My heart goes out to Adolfo “Shabba-Doo” Quinones family..🙏🏾 R.I.P. OZONE❤️..We love you!!!💯💯💯
This! This was an era where everything was so much easier, it was not perfect, no decade was and will ever be perfect. But the 1980s? It was a whole other level! I absolutely miss it and always will! ❤
That's the way iFeel about it. People like to bring out the negative side of the decade, but every decade has his negative side. But i'll say this, i'll take the 80s anytime over any other decade before or after.
Going back and watching these films has shown me how much life has gotten bad and how we have all grown to dislike each other. Its crazy. Makes you wonder how it all happened, but at least this(and your memories) are proof that its possible.
Never gets old. Being a B Boy myself in the 80s, this movie and beat street inspired me, and made me a better B Boy. I really do miss those days. Someone time travel me back.
That's cool that they included the 2 guys and girl from the dance off. Shows that they were able to settle things on the dance floor than squash the beef to go on to make some good money together in the final scene. I love it.
The fifties were good. Little Richard he would have loved to participate. You had Elvis and James brown also. Everyone came in with their talent for that generation. Thamnx
@@patriciacolombini6567 Musical genius really maxed out in the 1970s though. Wasn't around then but just from what I've heard, the ingenuity, the number of instrumental arrangements played, the vocal talents... Then the eighties came around and there was a huge drop in complexity of the musical arrangements and a major shift in the soundscape with synthesizers making up a larger part of the eighties sound.

This is a great example of ozone, turbo and jelly standing up for what they believe in and making the people at the theater stage realize that music is music, any style of music and it should be appreciated by the people who represent it. Ozone stood his ground by showing the people there that we are people who have a different type of music, but dont discriminate against someone for doing what they love. Give someone a chance to prove that their type of music is just as important as anyone else's music. You don't never know what someone can do if you don't let them show you their talent. Everyone is talented in their own way so let their talent shine and who knows what can happen. The people who shunned you might actually end up needing you in their group and hopefully everything works out for the best for everyone!
