Denny McLain was by far the best side arm pitcher that I had ever seen in my entire life. Whenever Denny appeared in the game, you would know that the Detroit Tigers were going to win it. In addition, , Mickey Lolich was Denny's relief pitcher, and the two worked as a team.
Why would Denny be in there in a 12-0 game, thats bad managing and a waste of bullets. mayo did a good job overall but this was not a smart use of Denny.
Just,the,way it,was,back then,mark fiduritch did 24 complete games,in 1976,bullpen was,4 the,guys,wernt,good enough 4,starters,I'm not,saying it,was,right but just different gamn then
This guy was a 60s version of Lenny Dykstra ... police record, prison time and all ...
And the first guy to win 30 games in one season in 30 years, they said, and the last guy in the 50 years or so since--in other words, the only guy in about 80 years or so to do so.
@@paulb2092 Yeah I know, so what!
@@paulb2092 It was a great year for him; and it was awful nice of him, to give Mickey Mantle, a room service fastball to hit out, Detroit, during his last trip ever to Tiger Stadium in '68
@@davemr6193He also won the Cy Young Award the following year (1969).
Which showed that Denny McClain, whatever his problems, had, like many men of that generation: CLASS. @@davemr6193
