My mother was a firefighter for the Foxon Volunteer FIre Dept in East Haven, CT. She often would be the chaplain at these calls if a priest nor a pastor were available. She helped to lift cars off people in accidents, brought in Safe Haven babies until authorities arrived, and lifted people out of burning buildings. She's not able to do that any more and had to retire.

they are referred to as Tones and unique to each company or department. The base unit and pagers programmed to a department recognize the tone/frequency and sound a shrilling bell alert within the station. What you hear is the beeeeee doooooo buhhhhh tones, what the department and its members hear are beeee doooo buhhhhh BEEPBEEPBEEPBEEPBEEP accompanied with bells alerting inside the building. It is from day 1 as a cadet a heart sinking and adrenaline triggering sound and even more so to lose a brother and hear his "final call" as its referred to.
It's impossible not to become emotional from these calls.
Thank you for your service. God Speed.
Rest easy brother. Thank you for your service, we have it from here.
