Also I've heard tom mention, that during recording on all of their albums. certain riffs that he had written on his laptop weren't fitting. and in those times and others. dan and ali changed bits and pieces.. the rest of the band ofcourse all say that he wrote everything

It seems almost like there was a definite influence from Meshuggah or at least a band like After The Burial, but you can tell that their sound was still shifted more towards the Metalcore sound of the time.
The late 2000's/early 2010's were such a wild time for Metalcore as a whole, there were so many bands that were trying to push heavy math breakdowns to their limit, and there were so many like Tony Danza Tapdance Extravaganza and lesser known bands like Rooks that set the bar so high for breakdowns that it seems like modern Metalcore bands have been struggling to keep up for the most part. You've still got a lot of older bands like Veil of Maya taking the progressive riffing of their earlier material and bringing it to the current decade, and overall despite the oversaturation of bands in the genre today it really does seem like there's still a good number of modern gems to be found that you can tell stand up there with classics like this.

Suicide Season came out in 2008, and Hollow Crown, which this is on, came out in 2009.

One of the few bands that actually progressed and matured into a better band. Most bands lose themselves with time, architects are just getting better!

@@patrickdamacet6085 2022 here, and oh my, oh my, they DID become softer. I think some of the songs are still great, like Do You Dream Of Armageddon, Dead Butterflies, Dying Is Absolutely Safe, but 13 song album for industrial metal with orchestra is WAAAY too much. It gets pretty repetitive, heck, Giving Blood and Meteor sound almost identical
