looks great, personally i haven't figured out the sweet spot for using crackle paint to battle dmg minis I gotta work on that. but I have tried using a heated thumbtack to do flesh scarring and gouges/bullet holes, it works great but you only get one shot and if it messes up.. well you know.
I love this approach, trying it with my Tsons. I gotta say though, after having used it i really don't like dirty down virdigris, the rust effect is great though
So your in progress shot made me think that a cool method for black legion could be to go way to bright on a traitor legion paint job with either pre or clean post heresy colors but with gold trim, then do the enamel step but only clean off the trim and non armor bits so that you can still make out the old armor scheme under the black, then do any highlights osl rust etc. I'm also wondering how well thinning down the wax based metallic paints to a wash consistency would work as an all over wash for weathering.
I love that you can take a paint scheme that so often gets delivered without much aplomb, but make it accessible......as well as awesome. There are just too many tips to absorb.
Love the dirty down verdigris might have to pick it up, and just a heads up for people wanting kraut cover, it's out of stock pretty much everywhere, on a month delay on backorder
Since spacemarine 2 dropped I’ve been getting these videos in my feed now. I’m starting to miss my world eaters army and I kinda want to get back into painting
That looks so good. I really want to paint some world eaters, but I am still scared that I will give up when I have to go and paint all of the trim on the armour. I really like how yours turned out. I might pick up the combat patrol and use this tutorial to paint them. Thanks for sharing!!
I love your videos and this one has to be my favourite. Your technique has helped me improve on my painting and i thank you for that brother! I just have a quick question regarding the enamels. Ill be using them the first time and ik not sure of the mineral spirit ratio. I will be applying them by brush
Thanks for your kind words! I recommend 1:1 to start with. Neat for s heavier application. Practice on some old minis or spare parts. Either way u can always remove x 👌🏻
@@TheFeralPainter Np! I love your content and this video actually gave me some inspiration for my blood angel army since they have the same red color scheme
Absolutely in love with this painting and style, I'm just starting out on my Warhammer journey and I'm going with the world eaters and following your scheme. Only thing is I'm not able to get ahold of the villainy inks for the washes yet so I've gone for cidadels shade nuln oil, would you recommend mixing it and watering it down with any of the other colours you've used as I've got all of them including both dirty down products. Thanks for your help and time 🤘
He looks awesome! I love the rugged ancient look of him. Would love to see your take on Flesh Tearers (especially terminators) as I've recently started an army and I'm trying to make them as grimdark as possible
'Sanity is for the weeeek' love that paint scheme. Also have a good blood recipe if anyone cares to know. X27 tamiya clear red, and a little tiny drop vallejo black! Great vid as always. 🤘
I am really digging the idea of using liquid green stuff as a texturing medium Was there any manipulation of the liquid green stuff or just applied straight?
Hello Feral great work and love your videos, great help for buying good products and painting for grimdark! if you could update the link for Villiany Inks Resorce page cause its the same link from Deathwing Course. keep up the great work and cant wait for more videos for grimdark stuff.
Hey dude. How cohesive would this technique be for an army? I'm guessing the unifying wash is as it called and brings everything close to one another in tonality. I'm weighing up getting an airbrush but love this aesthetic and feel like this effect is best with dry brush 🤘🏻💀
You dont need an airbrush for this. Can do all with brush. Its not really an army painting style as i dont do that. There are lots of quick easy tutorials outthere for army painting. However this one will just add some bits to make it look alittle better and grimdark. Hope that helps thanks 😉☺️
@@TheFeralPainter cheers dude. AH, what I meant was is this technique easy to replicate. Like a squad of ten would look somewhat uniform in colour tone. I can come back to it 6 months down the line and the next batch would be similar. I ran into this problem with fkesh tearers last year but then again it was haphazardly 😅
thank you for this vid! i have been debating how to paint my whole 2K points worth od world eaters! do u think i could do something similar with Angron too? i wanted to keep his brass coloured armour, what paints would you recommend doing for him?
The way you paint is exactly how I want my minis to look when I start. Thank you
Your welcome

looks amazing! will follow this when painting my world eaters
Hope you enjoy it!
You'll have to do necrons at some point. You are A GOD at painting these dudes
Thanks so much

The basing material looks awesome
It is 👌🏻☺️
PERFECTLY solid for table top and if you wanted to you could easily take it up a few extra levels to really showcase
Sure can
Great video once again! Love it!
Glad you enjoyed it!

Water down the contrast paint rattling grime its alot better.
Welcome to the journey
Best painting tutorial I have seen. Achievable but end product is stunning. Really clear narration and visuals. Cheers!

Love the content, nice job
Glad you enjoy it!
❤ well done!!
Thanks bro
Absolutely a banger bro
Thanls man
This is awesome!! How would you go about painting Jackhals or CSM cultists?
Mmm not sure ive seen them. However i do have lots of videos on my channel that u might find helpful
I do my bases like this too, random dirty stuff. Btw nice job on the Grimdark mate🤟🤟👌
Cool, thanks!
I am really digging the idea of using liquid green stuff as a texturing medium
Was there any manipulation of the liquid green stuff or just applied straight?
Applied straight like stippled on
Really nice tutorial, came out great!! :)
Thanks so much 😊

Will do
Wonderful scheme dude! Keep going. It would be awesome if you did a tutorial on space wolves one day. 🔥🔥
Coming soon
Would that zenithal technique work with blue for a TSon? Also wonderful job, this pleases Khorne
Can work with any colour 😉
Awesome!
Thank you! Cheers!
Great video. Would streaking grime work also? Or if you wanted to stay away from oils, would a mix of nuln oil and Agrax work too?
Citadel washes would not give the same effect.
Hey man! Do you think this could be applied to Thousand sons rubrics and sorcerers? Obviously in the appropriate blue tones.
Ov course
Killer job, as always.
Anyone know where to get those Krautcover basing sets in the USA?
Ill take a look for you
@@TheFeralPainter thanks brother! I asked on a Facebook group but no answer yet. I also asked my local hobby shop if they could snag some.

Could you possibly do some “obscure” successor chapters grimdark
Im sure i will at some point. I always try show techniques that u can use with any colour. But i do love me a custom chapter
thank you for this vid! i have been debating how to paint my whole 2K points worth od world eaters! do u think i could do something similar with Angron too? i wanted to keep his brass coloured armour, what paints would you recommend doing for him?
Yea can do same for angron
I’d love to see grim dark raven guard!!!
Soon man
my goons grim is still glossy. 2 mixing balls and several minutes on a Vortex Mixer. what am I doing wrong?
first run batch if that matters
Hay man, contact kendon at info@grimdarkcompendium.com he will help you out ☺️. Somtimes the glossy/satin can be controlled with mineral spirits
Try the AK Interactive Matte Effect Thinner. That is what I am using with these paints. It works perfectly.
Thanks for sharing
Hey mate. I am going to get some Villainy Ink. I have normal enamel thinner. Will that work for reduction?
Yes it will
Whelp I finally did it, I got myself a bottle of AK streaking grime. I've been digging my heels but I've finally folded 😄
That is awesome!
How did this come out with streaming grime? 25 quid of villainy inks is a bit steep for me.
@248kingmitch the streaking grime has worked very well. White is the only color it can be rough on.
Is it safety for airbrush using the goons grime on it?
Yep
Can you do grimdark black templars
On the way 👌🏻
@@TheFeralPainter thanks, that would be amazing.
Mmmh boooooiiiii, and that in pre-heresy scheme now
Thanks
Great Vid , Shame about the audio reverb
Apologys for that
Comments for the comments god!!! 💀⚔️🔥
🩸🩸🩸🩸
Likes for the like throne!
villainy inks seems abit overpriced for what it is, £82 for 7 inks so nearly £12 per bottle
They are fantastic 👌🏻
Drybrush osl really does not work tbh
Too chalky and textured
Yup totally agree. However made this due to people abusing me saying i only ever use airbrush haha. Carnt please them all
