Squash one and find out! lol They are attracted to warmth and we've already had HUNDREDS of them on the side of our house that faces the warm setting sun.
Haha I've decided I don't need to run my own experiment on this, at least not now! Yeah, I've noticed they gravitate toward the front ceiling in the camper where it gets the most sun. We've vacuumed up so many!
I live full-time in my motorhome, so I never have to go through that. Crap that you are going through now. But I would’ve absolutely cleaned both holding tanks. The best I could before storing anything.
I do not enjoy cleaning. Love the results so I just push through it. I’m an old-school bleach gal. The fridge did not look bad at all. Stink bugs? Heard of them just never seen one. My first apartment, although years ago, had cockroaches. So stink bugs don’t seem all that bad. Spearmint oil might spruce things up and keep those unwanted bugs at bay. Looking forward to your upcoming adventures. Cole seems very sweet and supportive.
This is so cool, to see the process of getting the rig ready for another season and discovering things forgotten. Liked the doggy costumes! Lots of lessons learned for next time. 10:25 Loved Cole's celebratory swig for a job well done (More Cole needed in videos!)! LOL
Haha he appreciates the encouragement! Sometimes he's in a camera mood and sometimes not so much. Just depends on the day and how much stuff is going wrong!
You guys should invest in some dehumidifiers pull that damp air out also maybe a fan to move some air while you're working also I would fire up the ac and check that
The one thing I have going for me with my rig and age is that while it is a vintage 78 model, only the trailer bed and the tin is that old. Everything else was built from scratch in '22, frame floor and all. I'm hoping the fact that I did that... and took care to engineer out a lot of things I find problematic with RVs, gets me a good bit of time with this one!
@@WorkinfortheWild We found A LOT in our air conditioners on the roof. So, if you decide to clean your AC coils, don’t be surprised to find them when you take the cover off.
My stink bugs are considerate. I have a constant stink bug when it's the right season. Only one at any time, and they are strange stink bugs that have kind of geodesic shapes - I didn't recognize them and they don't actually make any stink or bother things, so I left the lone guest alone and I called him Kevin. I let Kevin hang out and do what he wants. Sometimes he goes outside and a Kevin (perhaps a different Kevin?) will come back after a day, but generally there is one guest Kevin in my rig spring to fall. I greet him when I go in: Hi, Kevin! How are ya, little buddy! It's always a bit of drama if someone unaware of the arrangement sees Kevin and then asks what the hell it is and tries to kill him, I have to hop in the way and explain that that is Kevin and he lives there.
I always flushed the ones we found. I was worried that if I merely put them outside, they'd find their way back in. And they sure do stink! I can't compare it to anything that I've smelled before. Also...cheers to Cole! (Susan from Destination Changing - we've lamented about our common stink bug situations on Instagram)
Always leave your frig door open when not using. Put dam rid in rv when storing. I like to spray good bug spray into the camper when storing it. Empty fresh water tank. Sorry to be bossy. Have a good day
We dropped the camper off on a Friday night and had to be on the road Saturday morning to get to Denver for an event. Honestly, I think the only thing we would have done differently is leave the refrigerator and freezer doors open! The issue with the drain isn't something we would have noticed if we "did a better job" closing up.
Haha I figured! Cole thought he might have seen some in one of the pass-throughs under the camper but he had it cleaned up before I could get a look. Either way, doesn't look like they made it inside!
Question. I use to have a large 5th wheel I pulled with a 1 ton dually. I got rid of the big 5th wheel for a smaller travel trailer about your size. I've been pulling it with the 1 ton but it had over 200k miles on it and was starting to have problems. I got rid of it for a newer 1/2 ton. Got tired of driving the 1 ton around when not pulling. I see you don't pull with a weight distribution hitch. I wasn't going to either, but other channels say you need it with a 1/2 ton. My trailer is about the same, a little over 5000 lbs loaded. Do you have any problems with sway, at all.
Great question! I would say the number one recommendation we get from people on here is that we absolutely need a weight distribution hitch. We don't notice issues with sway but that's not to say we wouldn't notice a difference if we had a weight distribution hitch. We probably would! We've looked at buying one many times but have just been stubborn and haven't wanted to spend the money. It might be about time!
@@WorkinfortheWild Ok, thank you. I think I'm going to be stubborn about it for a while too. Damn things are expensive. As far as I can tell there are two extra bars and brackets for the bars for stability and somehow that jacks the price up another $500 over a normal hitch.

Good to see you guys back for another season, at least assuming that's the plan.😊

Love this comment! Thank you for the spearmint oil recommendation - hadn't thought of that!
Always be careful with mint oils and dogs as they can be toxic to them. My dog has a sensitivity to spearmint and peppermint oil.
Missed a golden opportunity to test the stink factor when you had the mask and glasses on. 😂
I just bought me one and its so dusty 😅 i am glad a came across this video

We picked up stink bugs in Ohio last fall. Had them all winter long in Florida. And yes, they do stink when you crush them.
Good to know! I'd rather not test it out :). We've been vacuuming them but I'm just scared they'll find their way back in!

get some of those glue stips and let them collect the stink bugs. works for those pesky roach like bugs that try to get into my garage.
Worth a shot for sure!
It’s so good to see y’all getting back to RVing. Looking forward to your new adventures…and that goes out to both of you.

You might want to set off a bug bomb to maybe help get rid of the stink bugs.

Best way to handle the Asian beetles is spray some insecticide on the outside of your camper in fall and they won't get in.
My cousin has a copper kitchen sink that is gorgeous but she uses a special copper sink cleaner...Google it.
They most definitely stink. It kinda smells like when you start the furnace up for the season only worse.
I'll take your word for it!
I followed you last year but don’t remember……..what was the rush when you left and did not do a better job closing up the RV?
2nd that. No excuse.

Holding us accountable! Love it

DONT SQUASH! They stink.
Haha thank you! I really have no desire to do my own experiment on this. :)
i'd let cole flush my tanks
You’re back. Look forward to your witty comments. Such a great brother.
Next time clean it before you store it. Looks bad.
