If their thinking on a certain form of entertainment agrees with mine and I don't like that entertainment, I can forget the show and just get some LOLs about it from the critic going forward. And if there's something I haven't seen but the critic I trust says it is garbage, I won't usually give it a whirl.

Going to stick with 1963-1989...at least it was taken seriously enough that they wouldn't take out a gigantic Bugs Bunny mallet to "whack" the TARDIS to create a double. The story RTD submitted was the Long Game, which Cartmel thought was one of the worst scripts he'd ever read. I always thought that was quite a harsh rejection letter, but clearly Andrew Cartmel wanted this guy to stay away from science fiction forever. He was the hero we needed.
So Cartmel recognised that RTD is a soap or drama series (pseudo soaps like Heartbeat) rather than science fiction writer? It’s a shame that more people don’t understand that anymore.

There will always be someone to buy out the IP rights. And part of what everyone loves about Doctor Who is the low budget special effects. Lots of great projects are done with small budgets. I have one explanation of the Doctor Who Experience failure: Cardiff is not exactly a tourist center.
In lack of Malcom Tucker, take any ranting male on pitch, to get your daily dose of vile: Doctor Who was NEVER "straight" Science Fiction - the blurbs on the Target Novels and depiction of the 4th Doctor on their front covers convinced me of that in 1981, while I was still struggeling to get a grasp on the English Language. THIS is "fantasy horror" not "space opera" - but the idea of a space-time-machine seemingly made of wood and mostly running on humour is just as great, as the cardboard-box from "Calvin and Hobbes" that could just be anything! Like the 12th Doctor said: "run fast, laugh hard and be kind..."
I tuned out after the 50th Anniversary way back in 2013. I found the 50th special to be satisfying and a perfect finale to the franchise. Looks and sounds like I quit at the right time!
Given that the only part of the 3 anniversary "specials" that was worth watching, was the short sequence in the back of the toymaker's shop, 'claustrophobic ghost stories' would be a hell of an improvement right now. I'm sure auntie beeb wouldn't be in such a mess, if they hadn't been pushing all this social engineering crap in the first place.
I’ve watched my fifty year old love for this show circle and drain down the plug hole. The show is clearly not made for me anymore - which is a shame because my kids were starting to get onboard. At least I have bowlestrek’s fury in place of my own apathy.

I started watching Dr Who when i was a child and my first Dr Who was John Pertwee. I watched all of the episodes and series, as I grew up, but stopped watching after Peter Capaldi left the show. I didn't stop watching because of who the new Dr who was, but because of how "woke" Dr who and the storylines had become.
I watched the show from the beginning when I was literarily a toddler missing an episode was unthinkable I even struggled through the wokism thar Moffat injected because the show was still good. However the writing was on the wall in 2017 I stopped watching and seeing the specials of the Doctor and donna became unthinkable after shows like this exposed the sheer trash that RTD put in those episodes. In short I am one of the millions of fans who have taken them at their word If you don't like it don't watch it unfortunately for all of us the viewership is shrining so RIP Doctor Who 1963 - 2017

doctor who might be there for one of the biggest falls of a seris. DO is a lot more tolerent to flawed writing in a way other seris are as long as canon is respected and the result was interesting. it felt like RTD did not want to be writing DO with the recent EP that added a music into a seris which was not a musical. musical songs only really work in dedicated musicals with out basicly impossible to pull of writing.
I think Disney+ is at more imminent risk of disappearing than the BBC. Disney+ original series are mostly flops that represent a poor return on their substantial investments to produce. It’s hilarious that RTD still considers these shows big hitters. Their budgets, and the production quality that those budgets should facilitate, are simply not sustainable. All RTD’s dreams of an extended universe of Doctor Who series through working with Disney are not going to happen. That ship has well and truly sailed. The BBC pulls in almost £4 billion a year from the Licence Fee. Yet I don’t think their biggest shows look like they have lavish budgets. More likely the BBC has a very public sector talent for wasting money and getting little value for their spending.

I started watching Dr Who when i was a child and my first Dr Who was John Pertwee. I watched all of the episodes and series, as I grew up, but stopped watching after Peter Capaldi left the show. I didn't stop watching because of who the new Dr who was, but because of how "woke" Dr who and the storylines had become.

I watched the show from the beginning when I was literarily a toddler missing an episode was unthinkable I even struggled through the wokism thar Moffat injected because the show was still good. However the writing was on the wall in 2017 I stopped watching and seeing the specials of the Doctor and donna became unthinkable after shows like this exposed the sheer trash that RTD put in those episodes. In short I am one of the millions of fans who have taken them at their word If you don't like it don't watch it unfortunately for all of us the viewership is shrining so RIP Doctor Who 1963 - 2017

doctor who might be there for one of the biggest falls of a seris. DO is a lot more tolerent to flawed writing in a way other seris are as long as canon is respected and the result was interesting. it felt like RTD did not want to be writing DO with the recent EP that added a music into a seris which was not a musical. musical songs only really work in dedicated musicals with out basicly impossible to pull of writing.

I think Disney+ is at more imminent risk of disappearing than the BBC.
Disney+ original series are mostly flops that represent a poor return on their substantial investments to produce. It’s hilarious that RTD still considers these shows big hitters. Their budgets, and the production quality that those budgets should facilitate, are simply not sustainable. All RTD’s dreams of an extended universe of Doctor Who series through working with Disney are not going to happen. That ship has well and truly sailed.
The BBC pulls in almost £4 billion a year from the Licence Fee. Yet I don’t think their biggest shows look like they have lavish budgets. More likely the BBC has a very public sector talent for wasting money and getting little value for their spending.
God, no one can rant about the death of a great franchise like Bowlestrek. Please watch more garbage for us, I don't want to watch it myself.
