This, and Eternal Flame (Bangles) both give me a deep rooted, 'mystic' feeling- They're two of the first songs I can remember as a kid, and although I don't remember the first time I heard either, they both take me back to when I was 5/6 and in my first school. It's hard to describe, but these will be amongst my favourite songs ever, just for the power they have of taking me back. Incidentally- I absolutely miss this era of music; different sounds of production compared to modern pop music nonsense nowadays, lyrics that aren't filled with sex and misogyny (I'm no prude but I'm fed up of hearing the same nonsense now), and the so bad it's fantastically good poor levels of visuals in the music clip. Anyone else wish they could go back to when times were much less advanced and more simple?
i used to like this song alot when i was 10. even though my music tastes have changed, i still appreciate this song a lot and it feels nice to listen to. thank you miss kemp(helen kemp) my year 5 teacher for playing this when we used to do school work back in 2007.

Memories of TVAM when I was a child, this was used for their travel show. I used to get up in the mornings before anyon e else and watch TV, must have been about 6-8 y/o!
I remember when I first listened to this song. My Dad and I were in the car together and the song was playing on the car radio. My Dad had such an appreciation for the song. He said it was "transportive ".
As far as I remember It has been broadcast on Hungarian national TV every single evening for a period (around '90?). If I'm not mistaken, it was an interlude before the evening news.

This song is part of my paradise. Thank you Enya 💜
It was Absolutely Wonderful... on 29th October 1988, 30 years ago to this day, Enya garnished The No 1 slot with The Gorgeous Gem 'Orinoco Flow, at least in Ireland and The UK and the world got to experience the magic for the first time! It was no mean feat, given how totally loaded the charts were, at the time, with major league established artistes!! I seem to recall that she beat out acts like Guns & Roses, U2, Phil Collins, Whitney Houston, Kylie and many more in getting there!!! For a newcomer this was something else again. To this day, her appearance on TOTP with 'Orinoco', is one of the most delightful televisual highlights of all time,...That Palor and The Sensuality of it... scarce bit wonder The World melted at her feet!?!
Reminds me of my teenage years, I was listening to this while my mates were raving lol, I was the first one pregnant at the time, don’t worry I’m still with my hubby after all these years x

Orinoco Flow
Enya

Let me sail, let me sail, let the Orinoco flow
Let me reach, let me beach on the shores of Tripoli
Let me sail, let me sail, let me crash upon your shore
Let me reach, let me beach far beyond the Yellow Sea
Deh-dah-deh-dah-deh
Deh-dah-deh-dah-deh
Deh-dah-deh-dah-deh
Deh-dah-deh-dah-deh
Deh-dah-deh-dah-deh
Sail away, sail away, sail away
Sail away, sail away, sail away
Sail away, sail away, sail away
Sail away, sail away, sail away
From Bissau to Palau, in the shade of Avalon
From Fiji to Tiree and the isles of Ebony
From Peru to Cebu, feel the power of Babylon
From Bali to Cali, far beneath the Coral Sea
Deh-dah-deh-dah-deh
Deh-dah-deh-dah-deh
Deh-dah-deh-dah-deh
Deh-dah-deh-dah-deh
Deh-dah-deh-dah-deh
Ah
Turn it up, turn it up, turn it up, bye, adieu, ooh
Turn it up, turn it up, turn it up, bye, adieu, ooh
Turn it up, turn it up, turn it up, bye, adieu, ooh
Ah
Sail away, sail away, sail away
Sail away, sail away, sail away
Sail away, sail away, sail away
Sail away, sail away, sail away
From the North to the South, Ebudae unto Khartoum
From the deep sea of clouds to the island of the moon
Carry me on the waves to the land I've never been
Carry me on the waves to the lands I've never seen
We can sail, we can sail
With the Orinoco flow
We can sail, we can sail
Sail away, sail away, sail away
We can steer, we can near
With Rob Dickins at the wheel
We can sigh, say goodbye to Ross and his dependency
We can sail, we can sail
Sail away, sail away, sail away
We can reach, we can beach
On the shores of Tripoli
We can sail, we can sail
Sail away, sail away, sail away
From Bali to Cali, far beneath the Coral Sea
We can sail, we can sail
Sail away, sail away, sail away
From Bissau to Pilau, in the shade of Avalon

Sail away, sail away, sail away
Sail away, sail away, sail away

pure magic from Enya, reminds me of my girlfriends and classmates at school long ago.
Celtic Queen of ethereal beauty.
Toda la razón!
90's!!! best era growing up.. feel sorry for current generation and what they missed out on
Genial, magistral, un soplo de aire fresco. Enya grande.
This song makes me harder to find for years, but thanks to Shazam 😊
One of my early memories, this lady with the flowers and birds.
As far as I remember It has been broadcast on Hungarian national TV every single evening for a period (around '90?). If I'm not mistaken, it was an interlude before the evening news.
This song is part of my paradise. Thank you Enya 💜
I'd forgotten how much I enjoyed this one. Also, it's Enya's birthday as of the date of my comment. Turned 57. Happy birthday Enya. 🎂😉😊🎉
I agree Happy Birthday Enya. You're wonderful.
Awesome fabulous performer the only music I can always listen to and not get irritated
Happy Belated Birthday Enya ❤☘ love your songs x from Northern Irish lass
The greatest song and the beautiful voice of 1988.
Let me sail, let me sail
Let the orinoco flow
Let me reach, let me beach
On the shores of Tripoli
Let me sail, let me sail
Let me crash upon your shore
Let me reach, let me beach
Far beyond the Yellow Sea
De, De, De, De, De, De, De, De, De, De
Sail away, sail away, sail away [x4]
From Bissau to Palau - in the shade of Avalon
From Fiji to Tiree and the Isles of Ebony
From Peru to Cebu hear the power of Babylon
From Bali to Cali - far beneath the Coral Sea
De, De, De, De, De, De, De, De, De, De
Turn it up, Turn it up, Turn it up, up, Adieu, Ohhhh
Turn it up, Turn it up, Turn it up, up, Adieu, Ohhhh
Turn it up, Turn it up, Turn it up, up, Adieu, Ohhhh
Sail away, sail away, sail away [x4]
From the North to the South
Ebudae into Khartoum
From the deep sea of Clouds
To the island of the moon
Carry me on the waves
To the lands I've never been
Carry me on the waves
To the lands I've never seen
We can sail, we can sail
With the orinoco flow
We can sail, we can sail...(Sail away, Sail away, Sail away)
We can steer, we can near
With Rob Dickins at the wheel
We can sigh, say goodbye
Ross and his dependency
We can sail, we can sail...(Sail away, Sail away, Sail away)
Sail away sail away sail away
Can we have it in Gaelic please FFS
