    That X is a monster.

    Have you ever recorded bass threw the X ? Looking for a comp that won’t break the bank that maintains good low end for my bass. I use a art vla 2 and it kinda kills the subs to the bass

      not really unfortunately. I only really used it to smash drums. It was very transparent at moderate settings and never seemed to take much low-end out unless I really cranked it. You may want to look for comps with a wet/dry option. You could also try some sidechaining or multiband style techniques to prevent any compression to the lowend

      You could check out the Joe Meek VC3 v2 - I picked one up recently and I like the onboard Opto Compressor on bass guitar.

    nice! how do you connect the outputs behind the 163x?
    I would like to connect it to my digital bass head.

      They are connected in series in this video. There is a line input as well as an instrument input iirc so you can plug your bass right into it without any issues.

    Can you slave an 163a and 163x together?

    • @OPdbx
      @OPdbx  3 года назад +3

      yes you can stereo slave them together. I don't do that as they sound slightly different and could make a stereo mix kinda wonky

      Actually you should try it. I keep two different mics, preamps, and compressors on my drum room mics when tracking and makes them sound huge. Really wide. You can level match after in your daw.
