@@TheChikleMasta to be honest homemadewaffles has commentated many yoshi fox sets and he always says the same things, like how you could just shine the eggs or just drill shine upsmash. he talks about the matchup as if he is the best at it even though he has a bad mindset saying things are easy and ignoring the idea of counterplay. I don't think he does it intentionally and I don't fault him for saying these things as he is probably the only commentator that can say stuff about the match, but I wish he would come up with better things to say, instead of how fox should win the matchup.
@@kylelo5986 while you make some alright points, you're arguing pure theory from the lower tier side. The thing is, fox is supposed to win every matchup theoretically, considering he's the best character in terms of frame data. There aren't many ways to beat fox if he's playing on point, especially with yoshi. Amsa is awesome because this match up is hard for yoshi, not a lot of things truly combo for yoshi, but he makes it work with a good neutral. Maybe the reason he says the same things is BECAUSE he's commentated a couple matches and has seen these strategies in action, I mean, this guy has been in the melee scene forever, remember wombo combo? This game is almost 20 years old, things dont change that much
@@TheChikleMasta I am not saying that he is wrong about what he says, but when many people hear about that fox just has to drill yoshi to win the matchup it makes it so that people think that yoshi has no options to counter this move. It is true that drill is a very important tool for fox in the MU, but if Yoshi can read fox doing this he can still whiff punish or outspace it. I feel like the primary reason people don't want to pick up yoshi is because commentary is often not helpful to learn from. This also hampers people trying to learn the matchup as fox as most that go in expecting to drill yoshi over and over end up getting comboed to death. I am not speaking in theory by the way, I am saying that his commentary is bad because he doesn't explain anything deeper than first level yomi. In purely theoretical terms, yoshi-fox is the only even matchup because yoshi has the only true counter to shine, but theoretical is really a nonsensical way to view melee. Amsa is amazing though, so there are probably aren't many people who can decipher what is going on.

He has been around for years now, going to major tournaments. People who he has been have labbed the matchup and beaten him back. aMSa works hard, he has a day job in Japan (this means 10 to 12 hour work days) and still manages to be number 9 in the world with a low mid tier character.
