The pigeon stalk!!
Using my FX DRS now I have the DNT ZULUS 5x20 mounted and what a combo it is.
Early afternoon I had around 4 hours of light left to actually get the job done.
Doesn’t seem a big job but stalking wood pigeons with a sub 12 airgun isn’t easy and requires a lot of patience and effort.
As the day drew in I didn’t give up hope and my persistence paid off.
After spending a good half an hour search for the bird once I’d dispatched it I didn’t have enough time to cook it out in the field so it was all back to mine for a nice bit of grub.
From Grizzly Adams to Gordon Ramsey
Hope you find this video interesting and maybe a little inspired to try it for yourselves

Hey pal, now that's a video. I love it from start to finish. This is why your channel is going from strength to strength. Such a wide variety of content, not the same old boring rubbish that's being plastered over RUclips.. I can't wait for our day out and catch and cook it. It will be amazing. Thanks for sharing all the best
Andrew
Andrew my friend thank you for all your advice and guidance.
Thank you for your kind words too.
All I want from my channel is for people to enjoy the content I make and feel it’s a place we can all share our knowledge and ask questions.
For to long there has been a preconception of hunting and just airguns alone and I’d like to show people what it is we really do and how it’s more a lifestyle then a hobby in my case 👍🏻
Cooked to perfection 👌🏼 For me its on par with fillet steak when cooked right. The best eaters are the young squabs around harvest time. The veal of wood pigeon 😎
@@Outta_Towna thanks mate and yeah your spot on with that one
Top lad 👍🏻
10/10 video as always, excellent stuff 👍👍
@@airgun_addict this was a very time consuming video from start to finish but Iv really enjoyed making it and hope everyone enjoys it too and maybe get inspired to turn to some of our skills and knowledge that are being lost
11:31 excellent shot 🔥👍
Thank you good job I know my hold overs
💪💪💪🔥👏👏👏
Glad you enjoyed it
Great video...pigeon is is lovely when cooked
Thanks Nath glad you enjoyed the video keep em peeled be a lot more to come 👍🏻
Well put together,, showing that it’s not all cut and dry going out with a sub 12 ,, well done 👍🤠
@@davidbrennan869 I wanted to show that hunting woodys with a sub 12 takes more then just aiming and pulling the trigger.
A lot of effort and my knowledge of fieldcraft played more of a role in this being possible then the rifle it’s self.
With out my fieldcraft this would have been near impossible with a sub 12. Thank you David for recognising there’s a lot more to this then meets the eye.
This was possible the most time consuming vid Iv made to date glad you enjoyed it 👍🏻
@@Midland_squirrel_hunter exelaint👍🤠

@@Terryhaslet thank you Terry I really appreciate that.
This video had taken me a lot of time from start to finish.
The hunt, cooking it and all the editing but it’s all made worth it by comments such as yours a other on this video.
Thanks again and thank you for the support 👍🏻👍🏻
Hello My friend,
Thank you for your video and sacrificing your time yo help others. Although I've craved an air rifle all my life, I've only just begun over the last three years.
Much of what you've talked about and tackled head-on, I've struggled with. Although I knew what you were talking about, I've never heard of the term sitting trees. I've looked, though, I struggle to find pigeon flight paths. Whe I approach a wooded area where I expect to find pigeons, they fly off if they're there! Maybe I should be there already when they're coming in to roost?
I enjoy wood pigeon, and I, too, find it a little gamey. I more than, and I'm happy to accept you are the teacher here. I normally fry my pigeon breasts for longer than you did, as with great respect, yours looked raw in the middle to me. I stand corrected, though, and I'll try your way next time.😊
I thought if I mentioned these points, other people may agree or disagree?
Your shot for the pigeon was a belter. Thank you for your informative video.
Take care, Ian
@@ianwoods1384 Ian my friend what can I say!! Your comment and others like it are the reason I create content so thank you very much for your kind words.
I did reply to your comment on my hide video and hope it was of some help to you. As for being there before they come in that is the right way to do it but not always possible as I can respect. Your probably best to set a camo net up to give you a little cover but remember once you dispatch one the rest will leave. It’s a long slow game and patience is a virtue with wood pigeon shooting sub 12.
Keep going mate it’s a craft that takes a lot of time and dedication and feel free to drop me a message on insta anytime if I can help I will of I can’t I will call on some like minded friends and between us I’m sure we can get there. Thanks again my friend and look forward to making some more content for you guys to enjoy 👍🏻✌🏻
Craig, keep the good content coming! I like you have not yet set up my ballistic calculator, I have not yet put aside the time to put together all the information required to set this up. TBH could be doing with some help on this to make sure I do it right!!
@@craigmacdonald1644 thank you my friend I really appreciate your kind words.
I’m in the same boat as you regarding the ballistic calculator and find my proficiency with my rifle helped me a lot with that dispatch.
It’s in knowing my rifle that I was confident to take the shoot knowing my mill dots hold over and under gives me confidence in my shooting and if I do say so myself this was a very clean ethical shot resulting in a clean dispatch.
I some how feel using a ballistics calculator will dull my senses with a rifle but I will set it up in time. Thanks for the comment pleasure as always 👍🏻
