Just love this song man. Just unbelievable muso's and sound crew amazing job. cheers Big Al
I cant hear this song and not think about my Mom...she loved this song, I remember her listening to it when she was getting us ready for grade school.
Great song.
This album came out when I was in High School. I loved it then, and still do to this day... Masterpiece.
Flashback! First time I heard this was on my am clock radio. I was 11. Its a good one, thanks.
No contest, 70's music rules. I feel so blessed to have come up during that period. Graduated HS in 1972. This was another album produced by Alan Parsons who also produced/engineered "Abbey Road" and "Dark Side of the Moon" to name a few. "Time Passages" was another hit/album for Al Stewart.
Born in '69 so I grew up in the 70's and 80's and love 70's movies and music best including what I call soft 70's like this song, gives me such a great feeling, especially the studio version but this one is nice too! Also like some disco, early metal, hard rock, etc
Cats rock. It's a fact. Yours is so cute and you can tell how much he loved this brilliant song from way back.
Saw Al in a club in Cleveland in 04. Great show with fun stories from Al.
Co-written by Peter Wood, "Year of the Cat" is a narrative song written in the second person whose protagonist, a tourist, is visiting an exotic market when a mysterious silk-clad woman appears and takes him away for a gauzy romantic adventure. On waking the next day beside her, the tourist notes that his tour bus has left without him, and decides to stay where he is for the time being.
In the Vietnamese zodiac, the Cat is one of the twelve signs, corresponding to the Rabbit in the Chinese zodiac ( there was no "cat" in the Chinese zodiac at the time ). At the time of the song's release, the most recent Year of the Rabbit had been 11 February 1975 to 30 January 1976; thus, the song was written and recorded in the Vietnamese Year of the Cat.
Great reaction! I'm surprised you haven't heard this song. It was one of my brothers favorites. I noticed you laughed when he said patchouli.
I think your cat liked it.
OK, I have many questions. You write "I'm surprised you haven't heard this song. It was one of my brothers favorites."
Does Justin know your brother and if so are they together so much that Justin would have heard this song at sometime or your brother likes this song so much that it's always playing whenever you meet up with your brother so Justin 🤔 would have had to have... heard it? "I noticed you laughed when he said patchouli." Are we still talking about your brother, was he in the band, what instrument did he play?
Sorry, just having fun and verbalizing thoughts of my English teacher reading your paragraph and losing his mind. My teacher pulling his hair out and thinking of all those questions is the Fun part in this, not your paragraph it's fine in my eyes so thank you Steve.
Not really my thing but gotta give it up. It's a classic from my teen years. It was everywhere and all over the radio. Couldn't ignore it even in my Rush/Yes stupor...
I’m the year of the monkey 🙈 🙉
🙊 nice to see Kitty 🐈⬛ Ho again!
I saw (and met) Al Stewart in a club on Cleveland. He tells funny stories between songs. Lots of fun.
❤love your cat! Brilliant having your cat in this. Absolutely love this song❤
First time I heard this was while I was in the Navy on deployment to the Caribbean. Good memories of great times.
One of my favorite songs❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
its a feel good song, great vibe,, but remember, you got al stewart and rod stewart, dont get mistake,, l.o.l, she still there, nice,🐱🐱🐱
Justin, u have to check out more Al Stewart, u won't be disappointed 😉
There’s great 70’s music that you love including your favorite song of all time: CINDERELLA MAN 😛😜😝😝😝😎😎😎👏🏻👏🏻🥰👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I saw Al in Philly back in the 70s and he put on a great show.
Hi Justin! Good pick for Al Stewart! May I make a suggestion? Live versions of songs were cool in that you got to see the artist live. You are missing out not hearing the original track on the album/CD. Get a really good pair of headphones, listen to the album cut and prepare yourself to be engulfed by a professional studio tidal wave of sound! Lol! Okay, maybe overkill, but the album cut is far and away much better. Check it out! Have a good day!
They played the hell out of that song on the radio back then. Try Nick Gilder's "Hot Child in the City'.
Weird song, but strangely very cool!
Justin , there is a amazing version of Ghost of a chance on You Tube from the Snake and Arrows tour .
Right On ✅ I sent him a link for it about the same time you posted.
What a time it was back then... I was graduating from high school in 1976. It was a great time to enjoy life... the Vietnam War was one year over. And the future seemed bright.
'The Year off the Cat' to me is 'The Year of the Woman.' It was a year he met a woman who had left an indelible impression on him, and he will never forget her. It was a year to remember. One he terms 'The Year of the Cat.'
Women are synonymous with Felines (Cats). It is why women are sometimes called 'Catty' argumentative with long fingernails like claws. When Female Models strut down a walkway at a fashion show it's called 'The Catwalk.' When women argue or have physical fights it is called a 'Catfight.'
Great reaction to one of the most beautifully and masterly composed songs ever in the history of music. This song is Genius on so many levels with almost every instrument being used in this Masterpiece. Epic!
Good Reaction though the studio version is much smoother:)
That guitar was a semi hollow body.( incase you didn't know, but you probably do! Lol!) Btw, that cat of yours is one heck of a dancer! 😆 😹
Im year of the Horse, and western Taurus, which strangely is pretty much who i am😁….. just like Justin, i dont care what others are into, but don’t tell me what to do, or what to like, or say your values are “correct” and so i should have them…. PS thanx for the 2nd Warning vid!
For you anytime Rob !
I would always pick the 70s too, though it's probably largely that the music _that_ _is_ _still_ _remembered_ doesn't miss (there was a lot of rubbish). Nice change to see Al. I saw him live in the 90s, on one of those tours which was going to be his last (he's still going)! This is his biggest commercial hit, though my favourites are on the albums "Past, Present and Future" (a common choice and one which probably works best as a whole album) and "Russians and Americans" (less popular and, ironically, from the 80s). If I had to pick a favourite song I'd go for "Road to Moscow", which often makes me cry.
❤ what breed is your cat? Love her!
shes a Russian Blue

I've watched 3 of your reactions and all your daughter reacts to is people's looks
Hey Thanks that’s my wife
❤ 📅 🐱
Vietnamese calendar year of the cat.
( Year of the rabbit in Chinese calendar)
1975
Great song, even if it is proto-yacht rock. It came out around the same time as Gerry Rafferty's "Baker Street", another great Brit singer-songwriter classic that had a similar vibe (even down to the sax solo.) Al Stewart had been kicking around for years before this, and this was his first big hit in the U.S. He had a couple other minor hits around the same time, then basically disappeared. By the way, what is your cat's name?
So China sang to you in the year of the cat, didn't it?
Chinese dont like al steward because he call year of the cat ,not call year of rabbit.
Guy's playing the cat who doesn't look happy
Oh, there's REALLY bad music from EVERY decade! There's no accounting for taste! Lol!
Great song Thanks for reacting. But the cat is too much. Too distracting. Hey why not make a channel just for the Cat BTW I love cats. Just wanted a non distracting reaction. Swinging the paw the entire time: too distracting. How can you concentrate when your trying to get my attention showing off your dancing cat.? Just some advice
ooooohhh lol I thought it was funny year of the cat with my cat. Also lots of people on my channel like my cat and wish she were in more videos. But yeah I get it.
