You need to hire a financial advisor to help you diversify your portfolio by including Mutual Funds, Etf's, the 11 GICS groups, inflation-indexed bonds, and stocks of companies with reliable cash flows rather than growth stocks, where prices were based on future prospective earnings.

FUN vacation with your friends, Kim! I enjoyed seeing their doggy joining in the fun. Can't believe that Laikyn has completed another orbit! Time flies… and so does the earth. Sounds to me like Rivian is the best prepared to transition to NACS. It's just a question of changing out the connectors: they've already got longer cables, and a plug-and-play interface that checks the VIN when you plug in -just like Tesla. So… c'mon, RJ, produce a Tesla-to-CCS1 adapter and ink an agreement for NACS so that you're Rivian customers to date can also use Superchargers.

Tesla(Elon) aren’t letting other companies use NACS without a future benefit to the company. They can control the market and allow Tesla’s to charge for less than other vehicles or give themselves a competitive edge over others. Plus I don’t think Tesla has plans for 800v charging infrastructure so not sure how that helps Rivian in the future.

This makes me realise how lucky we are here in Europe: all cars, including Tesla, are CCS 2-compatible and they all can charge at virtually every station.
But Ionity, the equivalent of Electrify America (with involvement from VW and other manufacturers), is just as unreliable over here, unfortunately. The 50/50 sucess rate seems to apply for Ionity as well.

Who am I to argue?

Rivian needs to switch to NACS and then everyone can enjoy the positive Tesla SC network. Adding the Rivian Adventure Network to NACS would also benefit everyone as well. A 2 sided spade connector would be far more compact than either. It could be so compact that you could hide the port very easily on a car, even seemingly without a door. If they are going to change it's better to get it right. The Tesla US connector is not particularly optimized. It's just the the combo ball sack design is particularly clumsy.

Rivian to survive has to switch to Tesla they can save themselves hundreds of millions of dollars building their own charging network and sell more vehicles this way. The problem with putting a NACS charging port in the back of the R1T is that it needs to be positioned at least 3ft above ground level because it has to be above the water level when fording a river. If they want to get to their "Adventure" they better partner with Tesla.

I don’t think Tesla SCs are reliable because they’re Tesla SCs. They’re reliable because they’ve literally only ever needed to charge two vehicles (3Y, SX). When it comes to the myriad hardware/software that 3rd party providers have been tasked with working for since day one, we’ll see how well they fare. On the few MagicDock stations there have already been issues with non-Teslas. It’s a lot easier when everything is vertically integrated. We even see this with RAN, about which I’ve heard no complaints.

That brief clip of you travelling down a backroad reminded me of how doing so is usually so much more interesting if you're not in any particular hurry to get somewhere. I quite like to simply point and go down backroads just to see what I can find, even if that turns out to be nothing; it's the exploration that counts.
Ironically, when traffic is heavy, if you know where you're going, backroads can often be quicker than main highways, and you generally won't get caught up in accident tailbacks either.

a 50/50 shot is pretty harsh. I did a road trip cross country from Charlotte, NC to Palm Springs, CA in a Bolt along I40 most the way, keeping speeds with traffic. Stopped at the Grand Canyon and Las Vegas as well for a few nights. About 5700 miles done in 2 weeks and something like 40 charging stops which 35 were EA and out of those I never had a problem that was worse than waiting for a few minutes for a stall to open or a couple stalls being out of order. ~$430 total spent on charging cost for the trip, had a few free DCFC and L2 overnight at the Grand Canyon.
I had a Leaf for 5 years with 100k+ miles put on it and now have had the Bolt for 2.5 years with over 90k+ miles put on it since I got it. Rented and overnight tested drove Model S, 3, and X something like 6k miles between the three to see how they are. I can't wait to see NACS take over CCS. Even with EA being relatively easy to use the Supercharging network and plug are just way more sleek and years ahead.

I am stunned to hear 40 CCS chargers were fully functional on a road trip. My experience is closer to 70% reliability. One dead DC fast charger in Naples, FL forced me to charge for 2 hrs at a level 2 to get home.
