    For marking leather, I've had success using a method that's similar to your iron: I've lasercut a logo or illustration in acryllic, glued it to a piece of plywood and used a vice to deboss it into the leather. Obviously you could handcarve a piece metal like you did, but instead of heat, apply pressure. The vice is good for applying even pressure.

    I use a dedicated fine burning tip in my soldering iron that I use to burn my name and year into small thin pieces of oak that I either glue to or inset into my projects. You have to do a tap tap tap vs a slide or it does not burn well over the harder rings in the oak, but it does work and looks decently cool.

    Hello, the photo sensitive emulsion is nothing more than white glue and ferric dichromate sensitizer dissolved in water or DIAZO sensitizer. I forgot a touch of dye or water soluble paint ... Congratulations from Venezuela
    The advantage of using the same method with the stencil, there is no need for anything else, you apply it the same way you remove the stencil and then let it dry with a hand dryer and expose to artificial light or the sun and voila, better defined edges, just with logos because elaborate designs would be more complex and it is necessary to use negative photos on transparent paper etc. EXCELLENT VIDEO- EXCELLENT IDEAS ...

      When things were at their very worst:
      2 Suns, Cross in the sky, 2 comets will collide = don`t be afraid - repent, accept Lord`s Hand of Mercy.
      The first sign - the Earth will spin faster.
      The second sign concerns the sun, which will loom larger, brighter and begin to spin.
      Scientists will say it was a global illusion.
      Beaware - Jesus will never walk in flesh again.
      After WW3 - rise of the “ man of peace“ from the East = Antichrist - the most powerful, popular, charismatic and influential leader of all time. Many miracles will be attributed to him. He will imitate Jesus in every conceivable way.
      Don`t trust „pope“ Francis = the False Prophet
      - will seem to rise from the dead
      - will unite all Christian Churches and all Religions as one.
      One World Religion = the seat of the Antichrist.
      Benedict XVI is the last true pope - will be accused of a crime of which he is totally innocent.
      - banking collapse was deliberately masterminded by the Antichrist
      - Antichrist will step in and create a false peace in the state of Israel by joining them with palestine in an unlikely alliance.
      - „He will recite extracts from My Teachings, which he will passionately proclaim from every secular stage in the world, until people sit up and take notice of him.“

    Hi Laura! Great video! Some very thought provoking ideas. Have you tried Electro Chemical Etching on Steel? Very easy and safe. Uses only salt and vinegar for the electrolyte, and a very simple power supply to make really clean makers mark on steel or stainless steel. I just built a power supply to do this last week and it took me an evening to make and I got great results. There are a number of tutorials on RUclips, but its really easy and fast. Makes a durable permanent etch and mark into steel in about 1 minute.

    Using a water bath to prevent overheating the contents of the flask is a good idea, but it is done wrong in the video. The flask is sitting on the bottom of the water bath, which means heat can conduct directly into the flask from the outer container, defeating the purpose of the water bath. You need to put a support under the flask to allow the water bath to circulate under it to limit the flask temperature. (This is the same physical principle as a double boiler. Like a double boiler, it doesn't work if there is a large path for direct heat transfer.)

    using the screen printer to create a mask for the copper plating on steel. most paints will block the deposits of copper. the possibilities with this. i would love a solution like this that would deposit copper onto an insulator so you could actually create you own circuits that way. once initial copper layer is done it could be built up in a number of ways to any thickness you need.

    • @PandTRanch
      @PandTRanch 3 года назад

      How fine do you want your copper lines to be? Because they do make thin copper strips with a sticky back. It is for stained glass work but can be stuck down onto anything. But I think the thinnest you can get is a couple of mm. You would have to lay down each part of the circuit separately, so it would be time consuming and not feasible for mass production. Does anyone know if there is a place to buy thin copper sheets with a sticky back? If you could find that, you might be able to cut it with a vinyl cutter.... if the copper is thin enough and the vinyl blade tough enough... 😀

    • @noelandrew3600
      @noelandrew3600 3 года назад

      @@PandTRanch copper foil is available in many forms and this has been done on glass before, but the adhesive is not ideal as the heat of soldering can cause it to curl up and come unstuck so this isn't a great option.

    Hier mal ein Kommentar für dich von einer Abonnentenleiche, die nur ab und zu mal ein Album geholt hat und nicht jedes Mal im Underground dabei ist 😉
    Dir weiterhin viel Spaß und Erfolg mit deinem Kanal und ich freue mich auf die nächste Podcast Folge 😁

      Btw, ich hab das Underground geliebt. So viele tolle Nächte dort verbracht und zu tollen Bands abgerockt 🤘 Echt schade, dass die Petition zum Erhalt damals nichts gebracht hat.

    I use my lasers for all marking - steel, metals, wood, plastic.

    Hello Laura, your tips are super interesting ! for the screen printing, can you wash off the wood glue and use your screen again?

    The wood glue stenciling is an interesting idea for screen printing, but how would you clean the screen when done with the stencil?

    It's funny. I have experimented a lot with branding, mostly hot branding. Last iteration was a metal 3D-printed branding iron that was perfect(of course). Too perfect it turns out. I tend to use the ones I've made myself by hand from brass or steel, since they "feel right." Less perfect, more alive.
    As best said by the at least as talented wife of great Swedish artist Carl Larsson "Det ska synas att det är från handen" (old swedish), "It should be seen that it is made by the hand". I.e perfection is not a goal in it self.

    Somewhere I've seen sandblasting.
    Just put some vinyl sticker on a glass or other object, sandblast it, remove the sticker

    Aloha from Hawaii, Laura! Do you make your own metal tags or do you have them made?
