My mom grew up with the originals and gave them to me. Loved it so much, I destroyed the sequel by playing it too much. I wish I can watch it again to see what I remember. It was a blast to see the past.
This excellent score MADE this movie. I don't doubt it was a cute film (*is), but IMO without this terrific score, it would have fallen flat. Thanks for sharing.
This was the first movie I ever saw in a theater, watched the original all the time as a kid, once I saw commercials for a sequel me and my sister begged my mom to take us, I remember being in awe at how massive everything felt in the theater. Once the film started and I heard this reprise of the first movie's classic theme, I knew I was in for a good time.
It's ironic that you mention "Back to the Future" in a comment on a "Homeward Bound" because the movies are related in way since Michael J Fox was in both! He played Marty McFly and voiced Chance!
I just watched the movie. It's far from terrible; I think the (new) characters could have had more development and finding the breeds that look accurately like Chance and Shadow. And also, I think there should have been a witness for the caused fire, so then we see justice for the boy and kitten Shadow and Sassy had rescued and I felt the toilet jokes were a little over the top when those jokes in the first film were treated with subtlety. Here are the positives; Chance and Delilah are very cute together, the latter being a likeable character and Riley was a sympathetic character and his backstory was very upsetting and emotional but learns that not all humans are traitors, Jamie and Chance learning how much they need each other after their tiff. My favourite moments would have to be Shadow's confrontation with the two dogs and when he rescues the boy from the burning house, a very accurate example to his fearless, heroic character despite how old he is. All in all, an average.
I wish Riley had gotten some closure, felt like a missed opportunity to not have the main characters talk to him about his bad experience with his owner.

Although I'm definitely here for all the positive comments, I'm a bit disappointed that almost all of them deal with nostalgia for the movie(s), and scenes from the movies, and very little in the comments is about the music itself, when this entire post is just the overture itself with no actual movie scenes over it. It would really be nice to see some more comments about the score, especially from other musicians 😉
When I turned 10 we got a girl with the same breed as Delilah. I remember my parents telling me, that she would be the same as the white female in the movie with the 2 dogs and 1 cat haha. *We always forgot the movie name*

I still remember seeing that movie in theaters with my mom and sister, hearing that music I knew I was in for a great time.
We also got lost again i almost got hit by a semi truck but the truck stopping reunited me with my boy he was so happy

They don't make feel good family films like this anymore, its all franchises, and blockbuster. Like this, Parent Trap, Mighty Joe Young etc
