Thank you very much. I wouldn't say that modeling is particularly hard for me anymore, but the time it took me to get to that point was very long and difficult. I've been 3D modeling since I was 12 I think lol.
Watched this series and I have to say - pretty good. One thing, though, that might've saved you a ton of pain during this whole retopology process - Blender now has the "Snap" feature. For you it's on the bottom centre of your 3D viewport where the gizmo orientation setting is that says "Global" by default. It essentially snaps to whatever mesh/object the one you're working with is on top of. You enable it by switching on the magnet icon and then switch its snapping setting to "Face". That way when you're manipulating single vertices on the remaster mesh, they just follow the geometry of the original one and you can then turn Snapping off whenever you want and manipulate them independently. I don't know, you definitely know the feature by now and if you did use it in this video then I just missed it, but I wanted to mention it. Still, great work.
@@mongeeman Don't sweat it, it's Blender. There are features that would've saved me just as much if not more time that I've discovered after years, some of which are a simple combination of CTRL+LMB. Slammed my head against the keyboard a numerous times because of those.
@@MMMercia Yeah I can link the heavy model since it's pretty much done being modeled. It's not rigged or textured tho, so there is still work to be done.
This series make me appreciate how hard it must be to be a modeler. You do some real good stuff. I hope your content gets more attention

He should really upload some of his old work, it's all rather impressive.

Now all we need to do is have someone use this in a meet the heavy remake in source 2 and remake Sasha after watching it

Thanks for the advice. Total secret here, but I'm super dumb so I had no idea that feature existed.

This is awesome, I’ll try to share this video with others because your work deserves more attention
Thanks so much, man. Please do :)
Looks great
Thanks!
@@mongeeman damn you got the pyro himself approving of your work
@@bongopod 😮
@@bongopod idk that pyro looks like a spy
not sure if you exist anymore, but holy shit this is amazing to see
Thanks lol, I do still exist I've just gone through a move recently.
Amazing job!
Nice work, hope you finish this :D
i hope you finish this because it is epic
Nice stuff.
Hey thanks.
Serious question: Will you do this same process for all mercenaries or only the Heavy?
I've been dealing with some stuff recently, so all of this has kinda slowed down a bit, but yeah I intend to remodel all of the mercs.
@@mongeeman
Excelent. Take your time... Step by step, and calmly. 👌👌👌👌👍👍👍👍
@@asterlofts1565 I really appreciate your encouragement, thanks!

Is Nice.
I like
Really? 👉👈😔
@@mongeeman yes really
thanks.
Wow
Will you be uploading the model to anywhere when it’s complete?
Likely on the Steam workshop.
Same with all the rest of my eventual updates to the mercs.
@@mongeeman Could you link it anywhere (like a pinned comment) for easier access?

@@MMMercia I've had some personal stuff come up
Cool video! But, how did you import Heavy's model into Blender?
Hehe, I found a rip of the model online.
However I'm sure there are some sfm to standard model format converters.
Pottis source2 here
are these connected to the tfs2 project?
What are you planning to do with these models if you don’t mind me asking
I just wanted to do it for fun. When I get one of them finished I'll post em somewhere for others to use.
