    The best fruitcake Recipe on RUclips I have seen and I have been watching for 10 years now. You would get A+ from my Home Ec teacher back in 1975. I just dated myself yes ma’am I am a senior so old girl can bake. Your aunt has a great recipe.

    I bake for weddings, holidays and other major occasions and this cake is top of the list for Caribbean folks and now a lot of Americans etc. If you're going to do it, let's do it right. Growing up in Jamaica, my Aunt who is a trained baker, taught me this way back in the day. You preheat your oven at 350degrees Fahrenheit, make sure there's a hot water bath on the bottom shelf of the oven. 15 minutes after the cake is in the oven, turn temperature down to 275 degrees Fahrenheit and slow bake that cake to perfection. You can't rush a good fruit cake. When cake is done, immediately spray the cake with a rum and sweet red wine mix. Wines of my choice is Red Label, Port, Kedem and any Manishevitz wine will do. Happy baking.

      Hi Rosalie, I disagree with you whole heartedly. I have been baking for years and fruitcake is baked in my oven throughout the year, not just at Christmas. I DO NOT use rose water as personally I don't like it and nothing Rosie hate the taste. Almond essence is something I use occasionally and when I don't have, my cake is just as good without. Never had a compliant nor bad review for any missing flavour. Only a good chef or baker can substitute or leave out ingredients and it is not identified. If your cake is crap without it maybe you need to review your recipe. No pun intended but you got my attention!

    Attention everyone!!! This recipe is missing 2 major and important ingredients - Almond Essence and Rose Water. I'm sure your cake is tasty BUT without these 2 additives, for me it's a👎. No disrespect intended here, just a friendly tip.

      Not all recipes will have the same ingredients Rosalie, this cake was absolutely delicious, without your mention ingredients.
      Stick with your recipe and I will stick with this one!
