  • In this video, Jeff goes through the initial teardown of a tape deck. Some machines don't need to be stripped down this far, but this one needed some extensive repairs.
We really enjoy making these for you! It helps us a lot if you like and share. Thanks for watching!

What do I say, hard and tiring work that needs technical expertise, my question is whether to dismantle the device to reform it again or for sale, parts because I need pcboard for rec /playback

Yes - me too. That circuit has chips that function as switches that operate the relays. You can’t get them now as they are obsolete.

A dead RS into a $10K J Corder flip with a little troubleshooting, vinyl wrap, some paint...easy money !

@@dubdoodle7191 Your comments come off as sarcastic and that's kinda strange, since it does take experience and knowledge to repair these machines and even more to customize them the way we do. So please don't insinuate that we are on the same level; you don't do the same thing we do.
That being said we are always happy to welcome more people into the open reel to reel hobby, it needs fresh interest to keep it around for years to come.

What do you mean by "multi voltage"?
From what I've been told, there are no IC's in these RTR's that are not available. As is, most of the circuits are discrete.

Some examples of these decks were equipped with a voltage selector so it could be sold around the world.
