I've followed killing joke since hearings them on John peel and have loved all of their music.I'm 61 now and shall still continue to support them..absolute genius?
I've followed this band since they released " are you receiving ". Its been a journey. Unlike other bands they get better and better...no matter what" style" they choose. True pioneers...leaders. wolves not sheep. How I wish one day they will get the recognition they truly deserve.
This is one of the greatest remembrance songs ever written. Brings tears to my eyes each and every time I listen to it. After this past year its even more relevant for myself, and I hope for many of you around the globe. Long live KJ!
This song heavily reminds me of my father (he is still alive). Somehow, these tones remind me of him, and his fight through his tough life.. He is a hero to me.
i am firmly of the belief that Killing Joke are legends and at the age of 48 i find that i have spent 35 years enjoying having their music in my life i met a girl in 83 dancing to love like blood in a kinda club in france and it ended up being that night when i ended being a boy there has and always will be ever since a very special place in my heart for killing joke ,but what i find most astonishing of all is that after all the years of waiting for the rest of the world to catch up, they just get better and better, and long may it continue killing joke, you are the most relevant and revered band today can't wait to see you again and thanks for da top tunes Tom Auld
I am 45 and just started to really listen to KJ and you have to admire the diversity of the band. i look for anything these days that is interesting, thought provoking and not bloody boring, this band ticks every box.
I'm 50 odd now and I first saw the band at Hammersmith Palais in the early 80,s and it's the best live gig I've ever seen, they shook the foundations and I thought the roof was gonna cave in, geordie was immense and when they played the Wait the place went mental, me and her where too close to the speaker and I was happily half deaf for the next couple of days xx
When I was in like 8th grade in 90 or so, I was exploring music alot. I remember this one kid had shirt w the laugh cover. So I got curious at the record shop, on same day I got that kj cd, sonic youths first, and revolting cocks beers..changed my musically direction that day. Oh also if I remember correct may been that day or close, feotus in excelis curroputus
@wernher korff They will ONLY "disappear" when the dirt is laid over them all. They have maintained 40 years as a band. And the WHOLE time, they STAYED TRUE to 'the nature" of their music. No one has EVER stopped them They never will. Death may. No man ever will. They are on a HUGE re-surge as they finish their weeks on tour opening for TOOL in front of some of the biggest crowds they have ever had. You can bet that they will rise to the top of the heap again as they release their 16th full album Magna Invocatio on November 29th 2019. It will verbally be one of the most personally vested releases that Jaz has EVER made. He promises that. Enjoy.
Bands which have been around for over 30 years or so are usually ones which thrive on nostalgia for their old hits and people who were young when those old hits came out the first time. Usually the newer stuff of those bands is totally irelevant and uninteresting. Not with Killing Joke. Their every new album is another timeless masterpiece and fits its time perfectly.
Now have a look at their setlists through the years....the "new" material comes and goes but does not stick. Not that I mind; I love Killing Joke. But for me they have been in repeating-themselves-mode for at least two decades now. And songs like Requiem, Wardance and Fall of Because to me still sound so much more essential and urgent than anything recent by them. Anyway. Great band.
Make me so sad, hearing this. This one is for me better for memory of Raven.I am not good in english(hardly understand without titlle),don't know why so much Feeling.R.I.P hero of my Youth.
I heard about Paul Raven in 2007 and i was in the us doing a job and i thought what,s gonna happen ,well the rest is history ,the original line up and 3 albums brilliant guys thanks
@kingofpunk1977 Thank you for not swearing KOP, it get's you nowhere. I personally wasn't keen on Hosannas or large sections of their mid 80's to 90's output. I thought large sections of it wasn't particularly interesting, I just happen to think that this latest collection is excellent. Just my opinion. It may not be for you, and I respect that, but you can't say that people are fooling themselves. They hear something you don't, that's all. ATB
@winbobs Totally agree! Killing Joke is the single most eclectic band I've heard. It may have kept them from becoming wildly popular over the years, but it also keeps them relevant while more popular acts fizzle out, and it's why they are absolutely brilliant!
Excellent vid. New stuff is good. I mean, people have to face that KJ's not gonna write Pssyche over and over... or Love Like Blood. Or Democracy. Or any phase they've gone through. This is what they're writing now. I dig it.
@kingofpunk1977 do you judge all music by the genre you apply to it? Killing Joke are artists, they go through phases, rage, gentleness etc. For example, how can you compare "Pilgrimage" with "Asteroid"? Both beautiful, but different, songs. Can't you simply listen to a song, and the execution of it, and judge it purely on artistic merit? "Honour the Fire" strikes me as a bitter-sweet song full of longing at the concept of mortality, life and love. Wish you could hear what I hear :(
@kingofpunk1977 agree, only 2 maybe at best 3 decent songs on their last 3 albums. Democracy was their last great complete album. 15 long years ago. I will say this song is a KILLA though, would nicely fit on Democracy or Pandemonium. :-)
@winbobs If you look at other Joke vids from Absolute Dissent you'll seekingofpunk1977 is just a troll, & a very clumsy unentertaining one at that. Probably thinks that for something to be punk it has to have spiky hair & start fights, got to wonder what he'd make of Crass or Subhumans, not much I suspect.
I'll respect kingofpunk1977's opinion but will disagree along with a few others here; after my own 30 years of listening to the lads, I'm willing to allow them to have their heads. Overall, ABSOLUTE DISSENT is sonically easier to get into than, say, KJ2003 or HOSANNAS, but the rough-hewn mix keeps this more of a piece with those CDs. And let's have a shout-out for Jaz' lyrics, what; honour the spirit of 'HELL NO!' that chooses to speak truth to merchant state/ dead meat political idiocy.
@kingofpunk1977 I think you need to understand the difference between freedom of speech and showing yourself up. So far you've made yourself out to be anything but capable of rational discussion. Cut the swearing and try to engage. If not, you're wasting your life on here and anywhere else you choose to make an appearance.
Not fair how time flies by so quickly....
Forever loving this band ❤️🔥🥲

Ive been with them since Change/Requiem, no other band like them. Watch the Death and Resurrection show DVD if you have not seen it.
Yes you are right, they were great in 1980 and they are still great today.
@Peter Lancaster So, did you enjoy it... and most of all...did you survive?
They do by the people who count
Where it matters they have in spades

@houmanDMD sure is =)
Great vid! KJ never stagnates in one genre too long- even within the space of one album. Kudos for them for avoiding that dreaded gray area.
In remembrance of Geordie. 😢
