Thank you for your wonderful reactions.❤️ The song "Qaragum Ai" became the music of personal mourning, a heartbreaking requiem for the teacher, friend Kenes Duisekeyev, who died as a result of covid. The song was performed in October 2020 without an audience at a concert in Nur-Sultan dedicated to the 60th anniversary of the concert organization in Kazakhstan - Kazakhconcert. The auditorium is empty, there were no live concerts in October. There are only two men on stage, singer Dimash and pianist Adilzhan Tolykpaev. Endless loneliness, and the pain of two men shaken by a senseless death. Two of the teacher's students, who have already become creators themselves, are grieving. 🙏❤️
In one of Dimash's interview, he mentioned that when his days as a singer are over and he will just be sitting in the audience watching another performer, it is his wish that no one among the audience can and will say that he did not do his best as an artist when he was the one performing on stage. This desire of him is reflected on his song "OMIR OTER official MV (LIFE IS SHORT)" where you can see him entered in a door followed by images of people of great achievements, he became old and was seen sitting as an audience in an orchestra house and at the end he was seen leaving the stage.
The picture of the man up on screen, is a proffessor and teacher if music. He composed the music to this poem about a daughter going off to be married and the memories and challenges that it brought to the father. It reminded him of the loss of others in his life . At a very young age Dimash asked permission from the proffessor to be allowed to sing this song. The proffessor felt Dimash was too young to be able to emote the challenges the song spoke to. And asked that Dimash perform the song to him (the proffesor ) after which a decision would be made. Having heard Dimash's sing the song, the professor was astounded to discover that Dimash was able to understand the nuances and bring the emotion into the song. So Dimash was given the permission he requested. The proffessor attended the concert, and gave Dimash a standing ovation. From that time onwards they became good friends. When the proffessor was dying thru covid, he asked that Dimash sing this song in memory of him. This is Dimash honouring that request. How he managed it at the loss of such a close friend is amazing. As u say the emotions were palpable. .
Many has already gave the most important context to this performances and the song itself. I think it is also important to note that Dimash loves all his teachers all the way from the first ones to the last. I think it was his mother who said in an interview that up to this day, he still send flowers to his teachers on special occasions, even to his first school teachers. Dimash, in many interviews never failed to mention that aside from having his parents, grandparents, family and friends who shaped him as who he is today, all his achievements are also the result of the hard work of his teachers who didn't only teach him school stuff but also taught him about life. Just a little side note about how Dimash feels about all his teachers/mentor.
I knew you would enjoy this!! There was no place for Dimash “theatrics” - meant obviously in the nicest way. He sang his teacher’s song in total anguish and presented it in its purest form. One of my favourites.
Hello, Michael. I'm so glad you reacted to this song. It's so poignant and full of deep feelings. The other comments you received fill in the background. The pianist was another pupil of this teacher and he and Dimash performed it to honor their fallen mentor. He must have been a wonderful teacher and human being. Kazakhstan was hit very hard by COVID, taking two of Dimash's most admired teachers, as well as many others. He performed another song to honor them and Kazakhstan, featuring two accompanists and giving beautiful scenic views of the country - mountains, forests, rivers, deserts. That song is entitled Qairan Elim, and it's very dramatic and visually spectacular. I recommend that, as well. Hope all is going well with you. Carol, from Boston
Hi Carol. Thanks. Yes, really appreciate this one. So many mixed emotions...pain...anger...love...and all that with a vocal maestria.... And thanks for your suggestion. Will check that. Take care.
Greetings from Ecuador, this interpretation of Dimash was without an audience because it was during the pandemic that this tribute to his mentor was made, there is an anecdote about this song, told by the professor, Dimash when he was at university found out that he was going to be a tribute to his teacher and he went to ask him to let him sing that song, the teacher, despite knowing the virtues that Dimash possessed, had serious doubts about letting him sing this song because he thought that because of his youth he would not understand the true meaning of the song. story of this composition, he asked him to go the next day and sing it for him in a rehearsal and he would see how he does it, when Dimash sang this song for him he was amazed that despite his youth he could understand the meaning of it and through his I sing to tell the story through his emotions, and this is how Dimash was able to participate in this tribute to his tutor while he was alive and was also called to interpret this song after his death. Thank you for reacting to this magnificent and incomparable interpreter.
The music of Qaragym Aì (or Appel of My Eye) was written by Kenes Duisekeyev many years ago. The lyrics are from a Kazakh poet who dedicated this song to his daughter who was getting married. He wanted to express his concern and feelings about what his daughter's future might hold. You really have to see this song with the lyrics. It’s beautiful. This special performance has a sad occasion. The composer of this song was also a teacher of Dimash and he died from Covid in 2020. Dimash was devastated. He sang this song in memory of Kenes Duisekeyev. The pain Dimash shows is literally palpable. It hurts so much to see him like this😥. Greetings and love from Germany👋❤️
