Excellent surprise! I am a very big fan of Tubeway Army/ Gary Numan and was also vocalist in a band covering most of his/their songs back in 1981-83’. Even got to play some originals on an independent radio station in Sydney, Australia. The rendition of this song is first class. We used do versions of Mr Smith/Zero Bars and Jo The Waiter from the same album. This is nostalgic to say the least. Spot on guys!
Except, as soon as he sings the last "bye", I need to hear the bass start for "my shadow in vain". Get on that, fellas. Seriously, there is no shortage of mediocre Numan covers (including my own), but this rises above. I am not much of a metal fan, but you truly did Tubeway Army some justice, while still making the song your own.
Right on gentlemen… great song to cover. You guys truly did a badass job. Hopefully you guys are still jamming together. You should do some more Numan covers. His early stuff is so rockin. It’s like it’s fresh all over again. No “rock” bands are playing anything close to how cool Tubeway Army was
I played a show at the Kenton Club 5 years ago and who was there just chillin' drinking beers? Red Fang! It was Brian Giles birthday. Dave and Brian told me how much they dug my set. It was such an honor to meet them and they are such nice dudes.
Well done guys . A very excellent cover of a great track from one of my all time fav albums [Blue album ,Tubeway army] . Now lets hear "Somethings in the house'.
Gary Numan is GOD. And this is an excellent cover of one of his earlier songs that totally does it justice! I hope that this encourages people to get into Tubeway Army, one of the greatest bands, EVER!!! :-)
Great cover! I used to live in Kenton back in the late 90s/early 2000s. Nice to see the old neighborhood in a music video by such an awesome band! Do you guys live in Kenton now?
After graduating high school in 1987 I happened on a record sale in which I bought three Gary Numan LPs. The first Tubway Army, Pleasure Principle and Telekon. Later years got a copy of Replicas. Good version you got here. Also nice to see Relapse is releasing music by dudes about my age.
Guys first time hearing you , Numanoid in the UK & you absolutley nailed that tune . "I dare you " to do " Joe the Waiter " , I think you'd nail it personally .
Dude, the Tubeway Album came around my neighborhood when I was like 15,16. Those who could recorded it from the album and sell cassettes. I traded weed for my copy, lol!!! Great cover guys, no doubt!!! My band did My Shadow In Vain, nobody knew it,lol.!!!
Wow. Captures the essence of the original but adds something too. Really didn’t expect it to improve on the original but it does. Just one thing that would improve it further: have a different voice for the “oh no” and “s’pose so”. Oh, and go straight in with My Shadow in Vain!
First time hearing this, discovered it by accident. As a lifelong Numanoid, I proudly give this two thumbs up! :)
three thumbs...
Great version , sounds really tight
3 years ago life was amazing. Got to see Red Fang live. Red Fang Rocks and they look like your dad...your plumber and two dudes from accounting

Red Fang have to be the most underrated band on the planet. Why aren't they superstars?
Because that would ruin them
