  • A new chainsaw is always fun. Also easy to break something. Hope 1 person takes something away from this.
    enjoy

Cool saw..we are not able to buy or own top handle saws here without a licence...tree fellers are if they have a licence...nanny state here. They appear so light and versatile though.

I think a lot of dealers here will ask for a certificate as well, but a lot of online shops do not. or even sell them as "one handed chainsaws"
As far as i know it is fine to use here however u must use 2 hands like any other chainsaw.
Im more used to using tophandles, When i started carving i bought the cheap little chinese tophandle for it. did run pretty good after i put a walbro carb on it :).
Kinda stuck with it after that, I do feel like im a little more nimble with them.

I always try to be safe. besides wearing chainsaw pants and ear protection i guess common sense must carry the rest :) glasses are always on, prescription ones but it will have to do :). i used to carve a lot without the pants but i decided id get nice quality ones so id have no excuse to not wear them. before that i used really heavy chainsaw pants i think they were meant for the winter so i ended up not using them in the spring and summer time because they got so warm.

also i dont feel i am an expert but i do like to share what works for me :) realy no fun for a beginning carver to blow out the tip on a expensive bar. i imagine it looks scary to touch the tip of the bar to feel how warm it is but i would never do that if the chainbreak is not engaged. probably set a bad example on that 1, best turn off the machine :)
