I remember first playing rs in 2004, I was in 5th grade and my neighbor showed it to me, I remember not caring at all about grinding or anything in that gradient, all I wanted to do was walk around and just explore things, I didn't realize it at the time but it just kind of felt wonderful in the most surreal way. I'll forever miss that black void where the draw distance cuts off and also being excited pretty much anytime I found something as mundane as an iron helmet
I miss this simplicity in entertainment that i only seemed to find in video games as a kid. As an adult now, not so much.... especially not in newer games but sometimes when I go back to those older games that enchanted me so much as a kid, I can still get lost for a few hours in nostalgic exploration

I think the tasks of modern old school runescape would be more bareable if it was game like minecraft in that you buy it all for a 30 dollar price and it can be played offline or on custom servers... im not sure how that would work but it would be cool I would be more relaxed if it didnt have to worry about renewing bonds because I would have bought the game for a solid price, and I would have to worry about disconnections or people being annoying or taking my spots and I could actually get things done And then i just do my tasks relaxed in between sections of grinding runecrafting maybe mmo doesn't work as well for osrs and it needs to have a differant model

The ore changes from mithril and addy to simple copper and tin blew my mind I remember going crazy one time, trying to mine this ore back in the day. Thought I imagined those ores being there lol
The whole thing about farming seeds coming out before the skill... Now THAT really brings me back. I totally forgot about this until watching your video. I remember all the excitement everyone had stocking up on seeds, trying to guess which ones would be useful/valuable, and which ones would be junk.

Your videos bring back some great memories. I remember the very day I first played RS back in 2004 or 2005. My brother had found out about it from reading a gaming magazine. Another reader had sent in a letter talking about it and they placed his letter in the magazine (I wish I could remember what magazine it was). My first walk out of Lumbridge past the cows and chicken pen, about to explore the world felt like the most magical and adventurous moment ever.

I really miss those old gray walls and the varrock guards with their bronze med helms, also I had all but forgotten about the cheesy blood graphics everywhere. And those steel chainbody textures used to have such a satisfying look. Every time I talk to people in games about this stuff I realize those times are just memories. More and more people playing these games that weren't around when they were fresh and exciting, and there weren't guides on everything.
Thank you so much for this. I find I can't play RS or OSRS as much anymore since the focus of gameplay for the community had changed, but your videos help me remember the days when efficiency was largely irrelevant and none of us knew what we were doing.
The enemy sounds, oh my god, I miss that so much! Having played since 01, the 2004 and 2005 era was the one I liked the most, by far. So many livid memories of that period.
The spider sounds from 2005 in this video weren't exclusive to that time period. I know for a fact that they had them as late as 2010, I distinctly remember the sound from that time as well. The same went for the wolves as well. Somehow I remember the scaffolding in barbarian village as well, though I joined in late 2007.

My Favorite version of runescape was when the HD update came. And Dungeoneering. Oh man how that era was. Music was amazing, the characters were beautifully pit together and the overall feel gave this, medieval fantasy adventure game that fit so well. Oh man how I miss those days 😢

If you want to sell your product in china (movie, TV show etc) there are two rules the chinese government enforces: no ghosts and no gays.That is to say: no religion/spirituality and no homosexuality/bi/trans etc content. (these days they wouldn't have so much influence) its funny to hear this because i instantly recognize it as the same Era that they forced Magic The Gathering to remove its pentagram from the Card Unholy Strength. My Favorite version of runescape was when the HD update came. And Dungeoneering. Oh man how that era was. Music was amazing, the characters were beautifully pit together and the overall feel gave this, medieval fantasy adventure game that fit so well. Oh man how I miss those days 😢

@@eric.waffles used to run fine on my PC. I think I had an hp or something. Idk back then my PCs were slow but I could run games like RS, Wizards 101, Pirates of the Caribbean Online, Lego Universe, Fate and the other Wild Tangent Games, omg I miss playing Wild Tangent games too 😭😭😭😭

CelticShadow MY THEORY: probably because of international laws in China. If you want to sell your product in china (movie, TV show etc) there are two rules the chinese government enforces: no ghosts and no gays.That is to say: no religion/spirituality and no homosexuality/bi/trans etc content. It's a huge market and if Jagex wants all that osrs mobile money from china they have to play ball.
i could be wrong though. who knows. angry christian mom groups usually aren't powerful enough to effect stuff like this.
@@guthax30 you're right for the new OSRS but it was removed earlier because of christian mom calling Runescape out on Cult indoctrination, this group was very active at the time and actualy held a pretty great deal of authority back in the day. (these days they wouldn't have so much influence) its funny to hear this because i instantly recognize it as the same Era that they forced Magic The Gathering to remove its pentagram from the Card Unholy Strength. Because of the social/Religious controversy most Devs decided to remove any and all trace of Religion/Pentagrams from their games. as a funny sidenote i'm a Wiccan (Nature religion/old witchcraft) and the Pentagram stands for all 5 elements of life, Fire, Water, Earth, Air, combined with our human element the soul they connect and intertwine to form one being (the world) caught in the endless circle of life. To have the pentagram pointing upwards it so seek Heaven (seek knowledge of the mind) the pentagram downwards is to seek Earth (seek stability of life, find everything that makes everyday life enjoyable, the tiny things of our earth rather then the 'great ideals' like god or the universe) Media has screwed these views alot but i hope this helps explain the symbol and its history a bit.
