Well, maybe not entirely mediocre because I am somewhat intrigued to find out more, but I really dislike the fact that the main character; the one we play as - is shrouded in mystery. How are we supposed to connect to our personalized, carefully crafted RPG character, when we have no idea what or who he is? These are things that should be explained early on. I'm about 15 hours in and I still have no idea who the character I named after myself is. I never like it when games do this. Now with all that, I make it sound like it's a bad game. Unfortunately, most of these issues are core to the game, so they can't be changed. Honestly, you can max out Spell talents and Dark Arts talents which I'd highly recommend. Take about 10-11 talents from Core to get what you feel is the most useful, they kinda stand out when you read them which ones you want (3 are just spell slots). 1 from Stealth talents for the stealth sprint and of course 1 from Room of Requirement for the End potion talent upgrade. This will leave you with 3-4 points to do whatever you want with. Personally I'd take the Focus and Max potion talents for when ya really want to cut loose then maybe a point or two more in core to help with ancient magic charge. In summary: 10 Spells 10 Dark Arts 10-11 Core 1 Stealth 1 Room of Requirement 3-4 Preference Usage There ya go, extremely versatile super build.
@@ascended496 Sorry for the lengthy explanation on this, just wanted to say why I didn't purely focus in core myself. At the end of the day it comes down to preference but I'll explain regardless. For core I basically took everything from the level 5 section aside from Protecto grants additional ancient magic (This I would consider as an optional with preference usage on my build). In lvl 16 I took revelio range because I'm a completionist, stupify mastery because it's spell altering that leaves your opponent in a vulnerable state longer, then I took both from the end. And yes all spell slots unlocked, that's very important. The theme for talents you should be looking for most is alterations to existing offensive spells or anything that provides a build up while you are on the attack. Look at it like a numbers game. The more spells you have empowered, the more spells you can use freely with additional effects off of cooldown when others are on cooldown, before the forbidden spells this is where most of your damage will come from. Dark Arts is important to max because in addition to spells being maxed you basically have unlimited curses, once everything is tagged with a curse and you have learnt all the forbidden arts you've more or less got a nuke button to instant kill everything that was cursed. The second heal buff in Core is also overkill if you've taken the Endurus potion talent in the RoR talent tree. Granted it is pretty difficult to weave every single offensive capable spell well in succession while defending and managing cooldowns. Taking the Max potion talent from RoR and Focus basically means you are a walking magical nuke that has no downtime on any spell in a tough situation and with a serious buff to all damage stacking with spell combos. Core overall would balance you more defensively and give you more ancient magic build up and with the right talent slots in your equipment could truly be devastating, sure. In a pure numbers and being able to use a constant barrage of spell combinations without stopping with endless additional effects and curses applied to said spells just opens up many spell combinations in a variety of situations with my own preferred build, giving you no real weakness no matter how your equipment talents are set. A strong offense is a good defence as they say. There is no wrong choice overall and if pure core is what you prefer then by all means, have at it. I am curious what kind of talent slots would be viable for a pure core build with only some Dark Arts and Spells. The best guide I've seen yet. It actually says how to use the spell and what to do. Most just show the in-game information and pretend to be guides. Thank you for actually playing the game and putting the work in.
The Core tree is absolutely the most important, and you can feel safe adding most of those. Beyond the core tree it is really up to your playing style, but as the game progresses you will be happy if you always make sure to keep at least five talent points on the ready instead of spending them all too early on. So yeah, fill out the Core tree but with the others hold on and progress a season or two before you use them, or you will probably regret it.
But do you really need to fill tour ancient meter faster? Also do you need to increase how much the healing potions do? You get 25 and can make them very quickly
I'm waiting on the healing pots cuz I got a whole herbilogy operation in the room of requirement. And I'm keeping my eye out for the max healing pot recipe. Ancient meter speed up i might get once I get a new charge bar. I noticed I'm not using ancientd nearly as much as I should be cuz I don't like using finite resources too much. Getting the speedup might help me use it more.
@@davidcagle920 Yes you do for the healing potion because the amount you heal for without the talents is not that much. Ancient magic is your trump card and your highest damage dealer not counting Avada kedarva. You instantly kill most enemies in the game with it and you’re going to be blocking, dodging, and attacking anyway which is free ancient magic build up. I will agree that not all of the core skills are necessary. You do not need more than 2 of the spell knowledge talents to give you more slots. Two is more than enough. If you have a very specific build, you can even get by with just 1 of these. Revelio mastery is unnecessary as well. I think you can pass up on stupify mastery as well, but it’s not a bad talent. Ancient magic throw expertise is worthless if you aren’t going to use expelliarmus. Everything else is essential.
I think the core "magic" of this game is the music, it ties in so well. There are so many systems in this game. What I don't get is the little things, like there is no button indicator at the Floo flames that says [square] "fast travel" which opens the map or something, no you need to open the map yourself. It would just make it a bit more fluid.
I highly recommend people to use all of the spells in fights to see which they enjoy using and which they probably will not use prior to using talent points. After that, save the game and then test the talents to see if they really add anything to the spells you plan to use. A number of them are meh. I also found the revelio talent to not be necessary as everything shows up on your broom. It would have been better if it extended the duration rather than the radius.
You're missing cabbage (9k per bite late game) and mandrake talent (range is massive and does over 1k per tic) and inifite focus talent (take focus potion and spam the light spell to recharge it)
LOVED the look of the first character shown. Much better than the typical wizard cloak. Though I am sure to mess around a bit, think I would keep my char looking like her! Classic school girl just looked amazing!
I would prefer new talents and just new spells i think they did it right instead of having it like elden ring when you can eventually get everything maxed out I like the ability to have a certain build
a lot of the abilities you recommend require enemies to be close to you and/or grouped. I'm guessing there are enough opportunities to use the abilities you recommended to make it worth while? I'm still in my first few hours of the game. Thanks!
I spent 5/10 on spells, 7/10 Dark Arts, 12/16 Core, 0/4 stealth (cause I’m a wizard not an assassin lmao), room of requirement 1/8. This is the best build I can come up with for rn, and I still got two I haven’t used plus more. I’m 28 hours in lvl31 and play on hard I RIP through enemy’s.
I picked the talent that makes Petrificus Totalus have the area of effect, the only one I liked in the stealth tree, I used that talent when I was severely under leveled for the giant Spider boss fight, I kept popping invisibility potions and kept casting Petrificus Totalus until it and the other spiders were dead
Jorraptor, you sir have the best help videos with games on RUclips. You have helped me a lot with many games here lately like GOW Ragnarok and Hogwarts Legacy! Keep it up man, these help a lot of people!
I’m not a big HP fan and just finnished platinium trophy on Elden Ring and GOW Ragnarok. Got this game yesterday and now 8 hours in. I did not expected to enjoy this much but It’s really great. Platinium for this one going to take some time but trying to finnish before VR2 arrives 🤔
I've been playing this game since 9pm Tuesday early release I already have 38 hours in this game and haven't even been to the other half of the map it's all greyed out. Yes this game is pretty beefy. And so so much to do I love it.
Dude, I’ve put 8 hours into this, and I haven’t gotten past hogs Meade and hogwarts. I literally got my first mission to go to the south hog something. I’m level 15. Too many side quests and collections to keep me from doing other things
Boy I tell you this game met every expectation I could imagine this game is so huge I still have yet to find all the common houses😭 it’s just so much to explore but I think I’m like level 17 or 18 but the game is awsomeee!!!!
Just picked up a copy this morning I was waiting Infront of my local game shop when they opened the delux additions got sold out fast so I was scrapping around trying to get one hope it's good
Here in France, all physical copies are sold out on Amazon, they've been for at least 24h... 🌿 Sadly I'm on PS4, so my Deluxe Ed won't be here till April, but it cost me only 65€, can't complain too much 🌿
probably ones that you like to use in combos together. definitely a utility one would be cool with all your stuff like stealth and light wand and what have you (sorry I never remember the spell names)
What spells add to the experience/add quality of life to the game without making combat easier? I've beat the main story but only have large revelio range, run while sneaking, increased spell slots, and improved roll (I didn't really want this one but was stuck in a puzzle dungeon 😅). I'd like to try some talents out now but don't want the game to be any easier. It's a shame you cant respec or disable talents to experiment with them
I can't play this game (low pc specs), but can you combo this? accio discendo incendio you pull the enemies towards you, slam them to the ground and finish with the fire ring
The fact that you didn't cover the room of requirement perks because they require farmable resources angers me. The cabbages turn into wrecking balls and the mandrake are unblockable 10 second stuns on all enemies. The potions are op too
Waiting for the game to become playable and I’m so excited! How many story missions would you guys recommend before starting to do side quests/explore? I know it’s all up to the player but it seems as if some good things are behind story missions so I’d hate to do a ton of optional content without core items like traits or very useful spells.
Seems like there's a ton of locked doors everywhere that I'll eventually learn how to pick. I did find a ton of pages for the guidebook and gain some levels from those challenges, but I'm going to have to double-back and reexplore them later anyway. I just got the invisibility spell, so I grabbed all the eyeball chests in Hogsmeade for some cash infusion, but it's a bit of wasted time I'm coming to learn.
As Dan Schmidt said "There's a ton of locked doors". I am 31 hours in and have been doing all side activities and was even lvl 28 before I even unlocked talents. I would advise to look out for things along your main story, but never detour. Just Revelio and grab nearby Revelio pages and chests etc. When you get the spell to unlock locks, that's a good time to explore. You'll get it shortly after your main story first trial if you do Fig's mission afterwards. You will want to detour straight for Merlin's trials regardless though due to inventory size, just try not to get sidetracked with other stuff when looking for Merlin trials until you have that spell to unlock stuff. Edit: TLDR edition 1: Merlin Trials after gaining access to flight for inventory space. 2: Do any assignments for extra spells, even ones that aren't marked as main. 3: After your main story mission trial, go see Fig and do his mission to get the spell to unlock stuff. 4: It's time to heavily explore. 5: ????? 6: Profit.
I’m stunned by the fight mechanics I always am afraid with games like this as to how they will do the battle mechanics considering it a magic game like in the old Garry potter game the wand basically worked as a gun and it played like a 3rd person shooter an ok game that actually was better than I thought but this has taken it to a level I never knew it could all these people boycotting it are truly truly missing out on an incredible game
Can someone look into why your character is followed by white owls? It's not an ordinary owl. Other noc owls just fly around doing bird stuff. It seems like 1 white owl in particular will always be chilling somewhere watching you. It sits at Hogsmeade in a couple spots. The bridge when you walk past every now and then. It followed me during the flying class for a little bit. There's a white owl on the identify table in the room of requirement. What's up with the white owl??
It's likely just your character's familiar/mail pet. We never get a choice, nor is it ever shown that I'm aware of the familiar/pet we chose as our own. it's likely the player character had chosen one well before the game took place wherever the character comes from. The only way for that owl to be in the Room of Requirement would be for it to be affiliated directly with your character in some way and as explained earlier that is the likeliest answer. To further cement this theory of the Owl being the player character's familiar there is also a that very same owl on your mail icon. Edit: Hey there, I was tired when I wrote the previous so I wasn't fact checking myself and realised the owl in the mail symbol is different, it's more grey. The owl (familiar) in the Room of Requirement is a speckled white owl. It is also likely not the owl you see flying around in the wild at times since the ones I have seen are far more whiter. Observing the owl though made me realise there are actually quite a few owls around in trees and sometimes even landing nearby seemingly following and just doing their own thing. You only see the white ones more simply because they're a really bright white and tend to stand out. To note, the white owls I tend to notice do not have speckles either. So it is in fact a different owl(s), but at this point in time my own investigation concludes they are simply owls native to the Hogwarts locale. I only conducted observations on them while doing side quests and was only keenly observing for owls in particular for roughly an hour.
I would say get all the room of requirement talents except Noxious Don’t get the curse healing, revelio or levioso talent And the rest is your playing style
There are a lot of talents, but we get a decent amount of talent points to spend. So, maybe the focus should be on talents to avoid. Granted, that'll be subjective to play style and build goals.
That is one of the downsides of the game... you very quickly out-level your gold gear and cannot upgrade the level, only add traits. I'm saving the ornate chests to collect once I'm at higher levels, I've found it pointless to open those only to get gear that I'll have to sell after an hour.
@@ADarklore I’m with you. When I unlock alohamora should I be busting up in the shops and unlocking the chests or should I wait til I’m around 40? Which ones are the ornate chest, because sometimes the same types of chest drop gear or galleons

You should be able to reset your talent points. I had no clue I couldn’t unlock all the skills. There’s a few I wouldn’t have unlocked if I had known this. But the game doesn’t really hold ur hand which I enjoyed, however I wish it woulda told you that you can’t unlock everything in game. Kinda dumb imo
This game... It´s a piece of gaming art and is not bias thinking, it is facts. The gaming industry has turned into downward spiral of pay gated content that should be core, unfinished games released and never to be fixed bugs. Then, suddenly, this game comes out reminding us how games used to be once in a not that far fast... nothing special really, just a finished, polished and detailed game made by developers who love what they do and who´ve been supported in doing so. But then it is a blast from the past with modern technology, shany graphics and polished, complex systems... which makes it .. gaming art :)
It's like martial arts or losing weight ... I guess there's a strategy to beost effective in these games or you just end up dying. But if u sneak up on someone and send a spell at them ai wonder if there's more damage cuz they're open and not defending.

Yea and it multiplies instead of adds together, so it’s really good! The one that increases damage of all damage spells is really good to stack. “Concentration III” I think
to be honest, i think i wont use points for the far right sides, so i never use any potions.. also i dont realy like playing "sneaky" so i can fully upgrade all other spells :D
Potions are so underrated. I maxed out my potion tree(minus the cabbages). And have 7 t shaped potion tables in the room of requirement making every portion. After every main mission I go back to the room to restock. It makes combat versus multiple enemies so much easier
@@RightStickRob yes! when i compared fighting with and without potions against trolls i was able to kill a troll in about 10 seconds with potions and it took me more or less a minute without and that was such a good feeling

@Jay Bro the level of your character has nothing to do with the conversation. I was level 26 before even getting the broom. That aside, I get what you mean. I don't see the need to use more than 4 or 5 spells so I have plenty of room on the other spell sheets for it. @@FlashesSoccer011 It definitely does, since it is a direct indication of how much time I've spent playing the game. Does anyone else find it odd that if you use Alohomora and walk into an occupied house, nobody reacts as you steal things out of their chests. Or you unlock a strangers door right in front of someone, and nothing is said. I just find the lack of reaction to be a bit dumb. Occupants could at least say something like, "You're not supposed to be here" or some reaction at least.

The wife and I are loving the music as well.
Was just saying that exact same thing to a friend who is playing as well. LOVE the music.
You're missing cabbage (9k per bite late game) and mandrake talent (range is massive and does over 1k per tic) and inifite focus talent (take focus potion and spam the light spell to recharge it)
I played this game all day yesterday on my day off and got completely lost in it. Everything else got tuned out. It is a great game.
Right?!
LOVED the look of the first character shown. Much better than the typical wizard cloak. Though I am sure to mess around a bit, think I would keep my char looking like her! Classic school girl just looked amazing!

Currently level 22, absolutely love this game.
It would be cool that if the game gets DLC, they up the lvl to 50 & give us the last 12 Talent points so we can have a max lay-out!
Yeah we could see that! I personally would prefer more new talents tho to have us go more in depth.
@@JorRaptor That would be nice indeed.
I would prefer new talents and just new spells i think they did it right instead of having it like elden ring when you can eventually get everything maxed out I like the ability to have a certain build

Great video, I was level 21 when I unlocked talents so I had lots of points to play around with
a lot of the abilities you recommend require enemies to be close to you and/or grouped.
Nice!

It’s lit isn’t it

Just picked up a copy this morning I was waiting Infront of my local game shop when they opened the delux additions got sold out fast so I was scrapping around trying to get one hope it's good
Here in France, all physical copies are sold out on Amazon, they've been for at least 24h... 🌿
Sadly I'm on PS4, so my Deluxe Ed won't be here till April, but it cost me only 65€, can't complain too much 🌿
Getting the game tomorrow. Can hardly wait - really appreciate your tips!
It's such a good game, I've been playing for three days and can't stop playing. You're In for a treat.

Thankyouu so much !!! i search for the ancient magic throw expertise details !! thankyou
I've been playing for three days and I can't decide what spells to have in The spell wheels could you suggest the best spells wheels combinations?
probably ones that you like to use in combos together. definitely a utility one would be cool with all your stuff like stealth and light wand and what have you (sorry I never remember the spell names)
On my first playthrough currently and went with all of the core skills first
I love this game!! I just got used to reset my points from time to time in other games… it’s a shame that we can’t do it.
It's a shame you cant respec or disable talents to experiment with them
Been waiting for this video!! Thanks
Thanks for watching!
This game is possibly A+
I can't play this game (low pc specs), but can you combo this? accio discendo incendio you pull the enemies towards you, slam them to the ground and finish with the fire ring
Yeah u can do combos in the game
The fact that you didn't cover the room of requirement perks because they require farmable resources angers me. The cabbages turn into wrecking balls and the mandrake are unblockable 10 second stuns on all enemies. The potions are op too
Look out for Fextralife's Severus Snape build guide.
Waiting for the game to become playable and I’m so excited! How many story missions would you guys recommend before starting to do side quests/explore? I know it’s all up to the player but it seems as if some good things are behind story missions so I’d hate to do a ton of optional content without core items like traits or very useful spells.
til you get your talent unlocked
Play the story for a few hours unlock the broom and a few spells then go wonder off
Seems like there's a ton of locked doors everywhere that I'll eventually learn how to pick.
Edit: TLDR edition
1: Merlin Trials after gaining access to flight for inventory space.
2: Do any assignments for extra spells, even ones that aren't marked as main.
3: After your main story mission trial, go see Fig and do his mission to get the spell to unlock stuff.
4: It's time to heavily explore.
5: ?????
6: Profit.
i started doing side quest after i got my broom
Honestly I don’t think I ever played better game than this…❤️
I just unlocked talents at level 20 with 16 available points. Guess I’ve done a bit of extra exploring… lol
How did you get the robe @6:14 ?
Complete your house chest quest, Daedarian Keys
Also if you like me and don’t want to see damage numbers u can turn it off in the settings so it’s less stuff on your screen and more immersive
Love the video, very interesting but quick question. Are u Dutch? Can hear it in the accent lol
how do you zoom your camera out so far?
i'm sorry but can i ask what graphics and hdr settings you used at the beginning of the video? thanks and good video btw

The Game should’ve a talent reset system.
Edit:
Hey there, I was tired when I wrote the previous so I wasn't fact checking myself and realised the owl in the mail symbol is different, it's more grey.
Does anyone know yet if traits can stack on gear?
According to Fextralife, yes.
I would say get all the room of requirement talents except Noxious
Don’t get the curse healing, revelio or levioso talent
And the rest is your playing style
There are a lot of talents, but we get a decent amount of talent points to spend. So, maybe the focus should be on talents to avoid. Granted, that'll be subjective to play style and build goals.
if my gold gear is low level should i keep to eventually upgrade it? (space isnt an issue but i could have even more space if i deleted them.)
nol, don't keep sell it. only wear and keep gear that is higher stats, until you are close to max level (40)
@@kusheil thanks man
That is one of the downsides of the game... you very quickly out-level your gold gear and cannot upgrade the level, only add traits.

No, there is no respec. What you choose is what you're stuck with the entire game unless you reload from a prior save.

Plants are amazing. Just saying.
It's like martial arts or losing weight ... I guess there's a strategy to beost effective in these games or you just end up dying. But if u sneak up on someone and send a spell at them ai wonder if there's more damage cuz they're open and not defending.
Just a fan of all things nerdy this is the game we have been waiting for

Investing in potions tree and making potions can make this game a walk in the park.. even in the hardest difficulty
If you cast accio after you get wingardium leviosa you can hold the accio spell and the player character automatically switches to wingardium leviosa
Yes that is great!
That does not work on all objects. Some will ONLY react to wingardium
@@FlashesSoccer011 Level 34 and have yet to encounter an object I couldn't Accio into Wingardium Leviosa. But even if that is the case, the spell menu is easily accessible and swapping out spells on the fly is relatively quick and painless. Rather not have WL taking up a slot when I can run something far more useful/versatile.
@Jay Bro the level of your character has nothing to do with the conversation. I was level 26 before even getting the broom. That aside, I get what you mean. I don't see the need to use more than 4 or 5 spells so I have plenty of room on the other spell sheets for it. I just keep all of my blues on one, tye room of requirements on one, and then the actual spells on the other two
@@FlashesSoccer011 It definitely does, since it is a direct indication of how much time I've spent playing the game. I'm six levels from max level, implying I've spent quite a bit of time in the world. Thus my point stands. My only real point was that the situation you detailed is very rare, and on the off chance I encounter said rare issue, I can simply swap to the necessary spell manually with minimal effort. It's called prioritization. But whatever. To each his own, I suppose. 🤷🏿♂️
But love the gameplay hopefully you can get more talents cause I really would like to get all talents
