I can't understand why people are surprised by this scene. It was known they were friends. Fury is a great and humble guy and I think his mental problems are due to the fact that he doesn't like to maul people and that he doesn't like his own persona. But somehow he has to live up with that. I think when he definitely retires he'll be free to be himself
