DJ MobileTips had an idea to build my own dj laptop stand and thanks to mattkent08 was able to make it possible for a fraction of the cost of buying something similar for a whole lot more. Thanks Matt!
please note: I do not live on the mainland and shipping via UPS which most retailers use put buying a premade laptop stand out of my reach. This video shows an alternative to paying outrageous shipping costs!
the song playing in the background is from ida corr vs. freddie le grand " let me think about it "

This is awesome!!!!! I been shopping for a stand for my Maschine and they are so bloody expensive... this is EXACTLY what I need. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!! Dont listen to these other muppets they're obviously not musicians (no doubt that will raise a few heckles too!) .... I love haters, they keep reminding me not to spend too much time trolling on the internet. Get a life peoples! If you don't like it, go somewhere else!!!
I use a Snare Stand for my Maschine
I found a multi position stand for $20. Even though these parts cost double + I love DIY creativity! Nothing like designing your on stuff! I think it's dope! Gave me some ideas!
This is a cool stand for djing but a few suggestions if I may:
1)on the bottom right before the 90 deg. Angle on both sides add some kind of screw or something to keep the stand from falling away from you.
2)add a bar at the bottom to make it look even.
Good job but I got a 'on stage stands' basic laptop stand for like $30 or something at Sam ash
Love how everything is so organized at the beginning! :)
Now THIS is do it from scratch :D
Great video. You could use rubber feet to place on the bottom of the stand to add some grip. And also use some felt pads to place on the top of the stand to add some grip for your laptop!
Wow ... that was not what i expected with that heavy duty small L bracket... so smart so cool!! Thx for sharing that was dope! ☺
Great Alternative. Thank you for sharing.
very well done, i don't have a dj equipment, but when it comes to a tight budget...im all about saving money on things I can get or do similar to the more expensive stuff, im sure many of us fall into this route. Great Job on taking what Kent has done & expanding on it with a touch of creativeness; we live in a diverse world, so knowledge being spread from person to person & sharing it online is definitely 1 way of complementing that. I WILL DEFINITELY COME BACK TO THIS VIDEO to build one, ty!
Nice job, very handy. I would suggest pitching the top L-brackets about 10 degrees, before you start for more laptop stability.
I think $100 for a stand is crazy but I bought one. Makes for fast and easy set up and tear down. I think with the beats headphones you have on the table, you can afford a stand. This might be a good idea for a beginner setting up in his or hers bedroom.
Thank You and yes the supports can be purchased in longer lengths or you can use slip on connectors.
Also the design needs to be portable. I think it wobbles front to back also. The Crane Stand is worth the money. Easy quick set up.
freaking cool Im going out right now to buy the parts for this . thanks.
that is an epic idea - well done :) I was going to go out and buy myself a laptop stand but I think just for giggles I will make my own... I did have 1 idea though - Instead of back supports what about a single sheet of metal with bolt holes? That would make it incredibly strong - you could even put one underneat to give it some more purchase on the desk... hmmm interesting :) Props for the awesome vid :)
thanks for the video. it helped me to make my own laptop stand
Love from Ghana. Impressive Sister.
I spent 20 bucks and converted a Music Stand into a Laptop stand, works excellent.
props on creativity!
Simple , yet a great idea!.
Keep em coming
j
Great idea. Thanks for putting this video together.
Looks sturdy too
THANK YOU for posting this video it was very informative and helpful, the only suggestion i have for your fantastic design is some sort of support and counter weight for the bottom to help keep it from getting to top heavy and being prone to tip over. But overall you have come up with a very simple solid and awesome design, good work!
pretty neat and easy, very nice idea. I'll probably want mine to be angled a little bit. and extended platform will also hold a mouse. I think it can also hold 2 cdj players I like it
Thanks for the video. Very cool stuff.
That is pretty cool and innovative! Hats off to you!
cool. u can also put small rubber things on the bottom so it wont move so much
Great tweak on a fabulous idea!!!! Can the single pieces you used for support be purchased in longer lengths?
I'd rather build one than buy one...Good job
This is cool, I should try this!
yeah, but this is for those crafty kind of people. personally i like the way that looked.
practice and enjoy carrying that through airport security during an out of town gig lol
Thanks ...good tips again..
Dope !!! Headphone gimmick made me smile 👍🏾
Really nice tips man tanks
Name Brand laptop stands range from 20 to 39 dollars. On different dj stores.
DJ This was a GREAT idea. I have been looking for a solution for my laptop to raise up and I almost bought a Tether Stand for $250 yet I knew there was another solution. I am making some changes and I will post my results when complete. Also, the size of the nuts and bolts was not stated. Did you use 1/4"? Anyway it was Awesome to see a female represent. Peace.
Awesome!
GOOD ON YOU!
ACER FOREVER !!! :D Nice video!
Thanks for sharing. This is what I wanted. I'm going to Home Depot right now!
wow that is windy!! PS I love your videos. i subbed.
very good, definitely an idea to have in mind if you're short on money for such accessories :)
Did like a boss!!!
Nice! Maybe I will make my own, nice music on the background!
Gees is this a mars rover veicle!!
Nice video, you have made me think about building my own. Thankd
Cool stand
For $20 more i bought a laptop stand at guitar center.. It also has a center piece for the interface or external harddrives.. The headphone holder i used my double brace lock keyboard stand for my turntables & the lever to adjust the height i use for the headphones.. This is definately not a bad idea but if only it cost alot less than buying a legit one.. No offense intended.. Im a nightclub/mobile dj..
shot a lot (y) gonna try that this weekend
@djdoc313 $50 is outrageous. Guitar center has used stands for $29. How if the parts were cheaper it's not a bad DIY project
nice idea!!!!
AMAZING! I LIKE IT IM GONNA TRY THIS! Thanks for sharing
song: let me thing about it :D nice song!
Hey cool video I might build one just for a extra one.
this is really good I just need one particularly for my car.I'm not sure how that would work with the making it stable part..
great video.
from italy
You are wonderful thank you for sharing this
great video!!!
Love it!!!
THIS WAS ACOOL VIDEO THANKS. I ENJOYED WATCHING IT
you are so cool thanks so much for the help.
I like the headphone holder.
nicely done BUT im pretty sure that your hard drive will die the next 1-2 months because of the vibrations :( dj's stands are made with materials that prevent the vibrations to reach the laptop
when i thought of what u said, kinda made scene to me
SSD is now a thing
the headphone holder is a great idea!
Just need to figure out a way to bend that top L Bracket down so you get the accessible angle going on... neighbours got a vice... all g!
@DjSonnyD1983 everything but the computer, headphones and laptop holder came from my local hardware store.
Sweet!
very helpful and informative thanks
Thank you for this wonderful video. I will try to make one myself too :)
love it
@DJSoulfulDee Thank you for watching your comment is so very much appreciated. Coming from you this has made my whole outlook on life as a Mobile DJ changed forever. My ability to be creative is forever stymied, as you point out so fluently. Yes it is ultimately better always to never be creative, think outside of the box and be completely reliant on the system figuring out for me what I should buy and exactly how and how much I should spend...seriously go F YS and have a blessed day
some people are natural engineers and others... not so... o_O Can't wait to see the light truss. Can't find your speaker mount video.. :-(
what exact siz are the ''L" brackets and the support brakets. and what size flathead, washer, and screw did you use?
Great video! I will be posting this on fb! cheers!
Big DJ
Nice! Good D.I.Y. stand.
shes awsome
Super good!)
hi there your video was cool as im going to make one thanks heaps for the idea thanks :0
Quality.
really really nice, thanks!!!
nice video!
Nice video very smart
"practice and enjoy......" @ellaskins, you've done it !! you got yourself one nifty trademark phrase now mate :-)
@djfifth5element; fantastic !! just saw your vid, going to run to the store after my day job is done...:-)
keep up the good work! Great ideal, some people just don't get it! That's why they have to talk smack, they lack imitation.
thx you very much for help poor Dj´s like me :D
Stands in the store aren't custom... o_O This can be tweaked many ways depending on who builds it and what materials are bought...
the numark stand is $50, but i love the concept though
It will look funny walking into a gig at a club with a big stand like that. but it would do until i get more gigs and that equals more money for a better stand lol
guitar center or musicians friend have some for 50 or under and foldable
can I have the parts list of what size screws and bars you used.
maybe she can buy one? just that instead of being lazy and having people do things for her, she made her own stand. pretty cool i think.
the is stands way cheeper than $50// there is some for $18
you can make a laptop stand out of the 4 ls and some scrwes..
lil jon did it!
thought this was gonna be a joke But WOWWOWW it works
cool!!!
nice video
i was surprised when i saw the body that went with the voice
whats the song running on the background at the beginning
