    Great project. I enjoy seeing these builds and I have redone my own case multiple times. Always fun to see what you can redo, repurpose, improve, etc... usually for small ceremony system.

    I really appreciate the minimalist approach. Form & function! Can't wait to see it in action.

    Nice case, here are a couple of suggestions:
    1) To avoid having to screw the gooseneck, use the Ultimate Support QR-1 Quick Release Adapter ($19.99)
    2) On-Stage MSA5000 Laptop Mount Tray ($21.95), instead of the Magma laptop stand which costs about $135.
    - Install a male mic stand flange on the case
    - Use Adjustable mic stand extension
    - Use Velcro to keep the laptop on the tray
    - So that you can get the laptop tray in/out of the case faster, use the Ultimate Support QR-1 Quick Release Adapter
    I hope this helps!

      Great ideas! I'm working with what I had laying around. One thing that I do need is 1 handed operation. It looks like the quick release adapter does require two hands to operate. On Stage does make some really cool hardware for us.

    FYI, an electric carving knife (like used to carve the turkey at Thanksgiving) works wonders on that foam. Really digging the laptop stand modification.

    Great solution with the laptop stand! Just wondering, will people in the audience still be able to see your face behind your laptops screen?
    (shouldn't be much of an issue, since the stand can be lowered a little I guess)

    • @briansredd
      @briansredd  Год назад +3

      The stand is really high in the video, but it's adjustable, I can still see over it, the console is only 18" wide, and I'm in a club booth where I'm not that visible to the audience anyway

    Question about 1/4" TR phone to 3 pin XLR. Is that impedance matched?

    • @briansredd
      @briansredd  Год назад +1

      It wasn't clear in the write-up. Truth be told, though, I can never tell the difference when using 1/4 to XLR for mics. If there is an issue, I do have some cannon adapters that change the impedance in my tool box I could run if need be.

    • @NC8ED
      @NC8ED Год назад +1

      @@briansredd 3 PIN XLR to 3 contact T(ip) S(leve) R(ing) 1/4" (tele)Phone are low impedance, low noise cables. They are used with balanced (pro) equipment. 2 contact 1/4" & 1/8" TR phone to 2 contact RCA plugs are unbalanced, High impedance, Noise susceptible cables used in consumer equipment. More signal is transferred with matched impedance. See if the 1/4" socket input is labeled "Balanced" If so the TSR 1/4" Phone will work better.

    curious how are u gonna mix with only a mixer, like are u gonna use the computer to basically cue and mix songs? without a jog wheel and at least a cue and play buttons, and no looping controls?

      @@briansredd oh wow. man i actually forget u have that issue, coz unlike most people u dont dwell on it. keep rocking. but is it easier for u to use the mouse instead of physically clicking on the button on a controller?

    • @briansredd
      @briansredd  Год назад

      @@charithasirimanna5033 For how I'm doing things at my events it makes more sense. I really like the all-in-one controllers & still mess with records & 1200's, but I've had so much practice with a mouse left handed over the last 12 years & the small battle mixer weight & set up footprint is helpful very when doing anything mobile.
