My father took delivery of a Montego Mayfair estate as a company car in 1986. To this day he says it was probably the best car (in terms of driving) he ever owned, despite the amount of time it spent being fixed under warranty (the black plastic window-surround trim kept popping out, also it had countless oil leaks and would frequently disgrace itself on the driveway). I don't know why these cars got bad name. Was actually a very good car. And looked better than sierra and cavalier
