I started laughing really hard when I saw how Danny Devito's character dies in this movie getting electrocuted along with getting vaporized by the martian weapon and going up in a puff of smoke in the shape of a mushroom cloud was really hilarious especially when he was trying to bribe the martian with his Rolex watch.

Ok, of all my years watching this movie I just noticed it. That is fucking funny.
Yeah I noticed that. It's surprising how much of the humour in the film is actually really subtle and in the background.
For example, the mere fact that the Whitehouse are watching Sarah Jessica Parker's coverage of the landing, instead of Michael J Fox's news programme.
Or the fact that they cast Jack Nicholson twice and killed off both characters, because the studio said you can't kill him off.
