I loved my first trip on Amtrak. It was so relaxing and the views were lovely! I traveled only from Davis, CA to San Francisco, but it was so fun and enjoyable! Way better than driving by far! Happy Birthday, Amtrak. Here’s to another 50 years!😃👍✨💖✨
My first trip on Amtrak sucked, 16 hours to travel what takes less then 8 hours in a car.

Here in Brazil we used to have our own Amtrak, It was called RFFSA (in portuguese: federal Rail network). Sadly, It was privatised in the 90's and does not exist anymore. United Kingdom has a Nice network compared to my country's one, congrats from a fellow railfan from Brazil

Amtrak is pretty pathetic as a business, that can't support themselves, they need an $80 billion handout from grandpa joe.

@@ismarymedina9899 you just don’t get it do you. Trains have a little thing called DELAYS. Sometimes a switch can malfunction, and they may just have to stop. Sometimes a person or a car gets stuck on the tracks. But Amtrak is STILL trying their best to make people satisfied.
Amtrak trains are the greatest passenger trains!🙂

Well done!.. The future looks bright,, looks like we may catch up to the rest of the world with a great system.. The Downeaster has changed Maine..But here is a idea.. Last I knew Arcadia National park is one of the most visited parks in the nation. There is talk of Amtrak getting back to Bangor... don't stop there.. Ellsworth or Sullivan , Maine. Green shuttle buses to the park... think out of the Box!!! ( don't forget me if your smart enough to think about this..)
No, train travel will never be popular again in the US. Airplanes are MUCH faster, and automobiles provide soooooooo much more freedom of movement.
Just move to Europe or Japan if you love train travel so much. There is no way Americans are going to embrace train travel like the rest of the world. Any WHY should we????

I've only had trips with Amtrak 3 times in my life. My first trip was from NY Penn to Albany when I was still a toddler to visit my family while our car was in the shop for the weekend. Second time was on the Acela with my dad and brother back in 2005 from Metropark to NY Penn, and my third trip was from Albany to Niagara Falls in 2011.
Sure, my trips with Amtrak are few and far between, but all of them are trips I will never forget.
We allready seen this 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸can't wait to drive the new trains

I’ve always wanted you to provide excellent and ultra-decent and sustainable train 🚆 travel 🧭 in America 🇺🇸. I must confess, though, when I was in my mid teens, I aaaaaaalways wanted America 🇺🇸 to have an excellent rail system inasmuch I constantly bored 😐 my mom and dad if they’d get a world 🌎 class rail system but they’d always keep telling me as it was. One ☝️ rather memorable example of this in October-time 2,000 was when my mom said unto me something like 👍 “Look 👀, Nicholas, I’ve told you *over a million times*, certain lines run 🏃♀️ between certain states”. Sorry 😞, mom!. Continuing on, soooooooo very glad 🙂 you’ve got future plans on high-speed rail 🚆. Keep up ⬆️ da good 👍 work, Amtrak. May you have a bright future with reliable high-speed rail. Yeah, I rode that line before, 20mph along the hudson river, UGH. Might as well have walked. It doesn't just need to be electrified, they need a whole new right of way and better track.

Dear Amtrak, Can you please restore a GG1 to operating status for us railroaders? The loco could run as a heritage unit and would generate a ton of revenue. This would be something to also celebrate on your 50 years in service. - we love you Amtrak- NixCrossing

That'd prob be impossible due to pcb oil in the transformers ,cracks in the frames ,and asbestos.

An AEM-7 could be restored easily than a GG1. Because the AEM-7s had no issues like the GG1s.

I would go on Amtrak IF you had a station in Fort Myers, FL but you dont! I dont want to get on a bus just go to Tampa just to go backwards to Orlando or Miami.
Yes Yes Yes Yes and Yes, Happy 50th Anniversary to my Favorite Railroad of all time! I have waited so long for this event and now it is finally here! Also I can NOT wait to see Amtrak 46, 100, and all the other Amtrak 50th Anniversary heritage units! The Capitol Limited is the train I have always watched go by. Whether it was at Point of Rocks, Maryland, Brunswick Maryland, Or even Harpers Ferry, West Virginia! But also recently I've been Railfanning in the NEC catching some Corridor Trains and that has been really cool too! Amtrak has been my Favorite Railroad since 2016 when I first started getting into trains and I Can NOT wait to see what the next 50 years holds! HAPPY 50TH ANNIVERSARY AMTRAK!!

By far my worst experience ever especially being it my first time riding with Amtrak. I found myself kind of being stuck in Reston, VA as I was seeking last minute flights back to Florida. Tix were so expensive ($200-$300) for a one way, so I was trying different alternatives for finding a way back home. I discovered that Amtrak station was not far from where I was currently staying with a friend. I booked the tix at $155 one-way to Ftl thinking I could relax, read, and finish up with work. Boy was I in for a rude awakening! Everything was smooth until the train took off. I had my own mask and was minding my own business until a staff collecting tix stopped in my area. He asked me where I was headed and told him Fort Lauderdale. He then asked me to adjust my mask so that it covered my nose, in which I did. Assumed he did not like my mask, he pulled out an extra one and told me to put that mask on in which I did. 30 mins later same dude walks by and ask me to pull up my mask. I looked at him and said, "Sir my mask is on, what more do you want?" He claimed it wasn't over my nose enough. In my head, I'm thinking "Is this dude serious??!!" In any case, I pulled my mask up and continued doing what I was doing (reading and listening to music). Then like 40-45 mins later same dude comes BACK around (mind you its like 10/11pm) and stops in my area. He asked again for me to adjust my mask. I had to stop and think for a moment and really ask myself, "Is this dude just going to harass me the whole time about how to "properly" where this damn mask? Keep in mind barely no one was on the train. I clearly was abiding by the six feet social distancing rule and my mask was on. So I said to him, "Sir, not sure exactly how you want me to wear this mask you gave me because I believe I am wearing it properly but if you would like me to wear tape to properly hold up my mask over my whole nose you can definitely bring some so I can gladly adjust to your liking". He must've got pissed because he comes back with his supervisor. His supervisor now asks me what the issue is in which I let her know I didn't think there was one. She mentioned its Amtrak policy to cover all of nose and mouth with mask. I tell her that is what I am doing, but keep in mind people do have to eat and drink and when this happens the mask cannot be on my face. I also asked her to bring me tape and if this would satisfy her staff from harassing me especially that I am a paying customer. She returns with the police, WTF!!! I was asleep as it was past midnight and I wake up to lights being shined in my face. I get escorted off the train in a town I never heard of before and when I get inside the station they tell me the next train isn't until the next day at night and I would have to buy another ticket. Are you f#$%^ kidding me???!!! I call customer service and they refused to issue a refund. What an experience!!!! Not sure if I should blame China covid or Amtrak because as a first time passenger on this train, they definitely treated me and a few others as if we were not paying customers and disregarded us off their train in the middle of nowhere as if we hopped on for free. Even the cops who escorted myself & others off the train was in shock when he found out that we got kicked off over a mask!!!! Though this event just happened, I most certainly will be fighting Amtrak and disputing w/my credit card on this $155 transaction. Not only is Amtrak refusing to even give me partial refund, they threw numerous ppl off in the middle of the early morning in the middle of only god knows where.I am not familiar with Rocky Moutains, NC at all! Leaving us with no stay or alternative transportation. One of the people who also got kicked off was a parent with a small child. They were not open nor willing to work out something with us on perhaps catching another train or even helping to accommodate us on stay. As a result of this matter, I would never again get on an Amtrak train and I will see to it that I post this review on as many sites and social media platforms so that people can see how unethical Amtrak is to their customers. I am still awaiting for corporate to get back to me on this matter. Reserve#24DCFC Case#5730234
