Could Ruth's famous declaration "your Elohim will be my Elohim" be an example of non-doxastic faith? Just asking, I lean towards doxastic faith.

Dr Craig! Could you please teach a "big history" course? I listened to a course taught by David Christian in The Great Course. It was really good, EXCEPT he is a horrible philosopher and doesn't really understand the Christian narrative. I'd love to hear your take on Big History using your unique background in theology, philosophy, and your knowledge of science.

Not sure I understand Dr. Craig on one particular issue. He says that belief in the deity of Christ is unnecessary for salvation in this video. Elsewhere I have heard him say belief in the trinity IS necessary. How is it possible to believe in the trinity without believing in the deity of Christ?

I thought his belief was that you need to respond to the revaluation God gave you appropriately. Not really sure what it means though so good question.

It's the opposite. He doesn't think belief in the trinity is necessary for salvation, but he does think belief in the deity of Christ is necessary.

30:42 What about agnostics? Does this mean that if someone says, “Well I don’t know there is not enough evidence to say either way,” they can be saved?

OK WHATS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN WHOEVER ACKNOWLEDGE S ME BEFORE MAN I WILL ACKNOWLEDGE THEM BEFORE THE ANGELS OF GOD LUKE
MATTHEW WHOEVER ACKNOWLEDGES ME BEFORE MAN I WILL ACKNOWLEDGE BEFORE MY FATHER?
    THIS CONFUSES ME

I know it’s been a minute since you asked but no one else has answered you yet.
There are angels in the presence of God, so it is reasonable to think that Jesus, making a statement in the presence of God the Father, would also be making that statement in the presence of the angels.
It’s like, if I go to a big family party and say something nice about you in the presence of my dad… I would simultaneously be saying it in the presence of several other people.
The gospels are complementary historical accounts of the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus, and the fact that they do not perfectly match in every detail actually makes them more convincing as eyewitness accounts.
Think of police detectives interviewing witnesses after some intense event took place - even though the event was what it was, different people notice some parts of what happened more than others, and each person will uniquely express themselves. Having more than one account gives a fuller picture of the reality of what actually happened.
In the same way, each one of the gospels was written by a different person, toward a different audience, and each focuses on and highlights a different aspect of who Jesus is… and they harmonize beautifully well.
I hope that is helpful to you!😊

To be saved (salvation) also can be thought of as being rescued. The main point is we’re given a gift (Jesus) to be rescued so even though you may be weary, have questions, be unsure, etc., the gift is still there.

@@J4-4J-J4 Yes, so it says to believe in your heart that God raised Jesus from the dead, how sure do we have to be (like a percentage) that it happened? I am almost ask what does it mean to believe?

    • @J4-4J-J4

@@minetime6881 In Mark 9:23 Jesus says “if you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes” so belief in the cross opens up many possibilities. Also Hebrews says: “faith is the assurance of things hoped for, and evidence of things not seen.” As a believer, my experience is that following Christ adds meaning, purpose, love, hope in ways nothing else really can. God connects with the heart as well as the mind, and I think believing has a lot to do with guiding the heart.

I’d be interested to know Dr. Craig’s view on Jesus proclamation that he is THE WAY THE TRUTH AND THE LIFE, if these are coordinates of a perfectly pragmatic man or three independent directions a perfect man follows.
