    I've only played a handful of games years ago at a friend's. More recently I got into Warhammer and MESBG is always there tempting me. I'd love it if they did a helmsdeep box. It's my favourite battle in the films

      It would be awesome to see a Helm's Deep box. Some cool new versions of Aragon etc and a bit of nice castle terrain :)

    Fully plastic support would be a dream for this game. Its about time metal and resin was left behind. Really no excuses with production anymore. New sculpts all round would make GW so much cash.

    • @BecauseOfDragons
      @BecauseOfDragons  3 месяца назад +1

      I suppose it depends how much support they want to put behind Middle-earth going forward. If they want to give it a BIG boost it could well get more plastics but I sense that might be a long way off.

      @taliesinmcgregor-sims1879 3 месяца назад

      They can get rid of resin. I actually prefer metal over plastic, and i personally wish they never used platic. The metal sculpts are much better then plastic

    I know New Edition Time can be rough and isn't always for the better, but I am excited by this. As they say, it's been 6 years which is a damn long time for GW. It's hard to say how it will go since MESBG feels like a narrative game that has to also work for matched play.
    Also, with Rise of Angmar as the next book and the War of the Rohirrim teaser, it looks like we're getting some strong early/mid Third Age representation this time around.

    • @BecauseOfDragons
      @BecauseOfDragons  3 месяца назад +2

      Yeah there are some good times ahead for Middle-earth fans. I am very excited to see what they do - the tease for War Of The Rohirrim could take us in an interesting direction.

    I just came back to the game with Battle for Osgiliath. Bought both army books, and all supplements except matched play. BECAUSE it has been a stable game.
    Why new books instead of missing, or hard to find models? Who was asking for this? Screams "money grab" to me! (And I own shares!)

    • @BecauseOfDragons
      @BecauseOfDragons  3 месяца назад +2

      I am very intrigued as to what they have planned. I would reckon that they are going to make it so the supplement books are still usable in some fashion although we really don't know. It is a real kick in the nuts for people who have just got started in the game though I agree - if I were you, I would staunchly keep using the current edition for as long as you can and make the most out of it. I suppose we'll have to see what their timeline is.

    • @johnweibel1128
      @johnweibel1128 3 месяца назад +2

      @BecauseOfDragons yeah... and this us on top off Asmodee butchering Imperial Assault, Legion, and X-wing, AND on top of the complete Bolt Action reset. Another system I have all available books - 31 including Rulebook. I'll be 60 this year. These were suppose to be my stable, "forever" games.... sigh... I'd be all in for war of rohirrim supplement. Even a box set on Battle for Osgiliath scale. But ANOTHER $120 for Army books.. geez!

    • @HogandDice
      @HogandDice 3 месяца назад

      The stability in MESBG isn't just that it doesn't have new editions often, it's that the core rules mostly stay the same despite new editions.
      In the old days every movie release got a new edition of the game.
      But each new edition only had minor tweaks and expanded on existing rules (like second edition adding siege rules).
      I wouldn't worry, it's still the case that if you know 1st edition you understand most of the current rules.

  • @antoniopedinelli

    Was about to get into the hobby, but i guess i should wait until the new edition comes out right? Or will the new edition not come out for like at year?

    • @BecauseOfDragons
      @BecauseOfDragons  3 месяца назад +2

      We're not sure on the timescales but this new edition could well be something like a Christmas release timed around War of the Rohirrim which is also slated for a December release. So - I would maybe hold off on getting stuck in for now BUT maybe look for some versions of the rules online. They do exist heh

    I’d be curious to know what this means for rise of Angmar then, would be odd to release a new supplement thats immediately made redundant by a rules refresh. So I’d assume/hope it’s compatible with the upcoming edition too

    • @BecauseOfDragons
      @BecauseOfDragons  3 месяца назад +2

      I would assume (as I have mentioned elsewhere), that the new book will be released to match up with the design philosophy of the new edition, a bit like what they do with Codexes in Warhammer 40k. That could mean the new edition isn't a massive departure from what we already have.

    • @ThatOriginalOrc

  • @redsven7624
    @redsven7624 3 месяца назад +3

    Pretty non-plussed I like the system for scenario play and that has always been my focus, and the team are very much match play focus and I am not a fan of what they did with blood bowl. I could be interested if it felt the game was a real positive shift to support my preferred style but equally don't feel any need to switch up. Plus there is pricing, I didn't get war in the north, it was one of my wished for supplements, as mini prices related to that are way beyond what I could justify. Also not a fan of the general direction of new scuplts, they are going less traditional/realistic looking
    As for changes, drop the special strikes,
    I had no idea about war of the Rohirrim being a thing, that could be interesting
    It is genuinely one of their best rules sets, and I would like to see it get full plastic support and thrive, but with the specialist games/main studio division cannot see that happening

    • @BecauseOfDragons
      @BecauseOfDragons  3 месяца назад +3

      Fingers crossed they do some fun stuff with the new edition. I can't see it being a massive departure from what we've had before across edition changes. I kinda agree about Special Strikes...I always forget to use them and they feel clumsy.

    I’m thrilled. We just went from “Is the game dead? Will the new owners of the estate take the license?” To this all. It explains the spurts the last 18 or so months, and I would assume both the same qualities of the new supplements yet hope against the power creep they also had (Dragon Emperor, etc).

    I just don't understand why they do a LOTR and a Hobbit armies book, it doesn't really make sence anymore. I mean it's one game, profiles have been updated now. Where will you put Erebor Reclaimed and Dale from Defence of the North extension ? Where do you put Angmar, Khazad-Dum, Thranduil's Halls ? It would have been better to get a Good and an Evil armies book.

    • @BecauseOfDragons
      @BecauseOfDragons  3 месяца назад +1

      That does sound like a good idea at this point. Maybe they have to keep them separate for some licencing element perhaps. I do think doing Good and Evil like they did with Warhammer: The Old World would be a better idea though now considering the wealth of armies.
