- Lee Shi Tian puts his signature Jeskai Ascendancy Combo deck to the test against fourth-ranked Ivan Floch in the first round of Standard at Pro Tour Dragons of Tarkir.
actual gameplay starts at 8:35
bile blight your own caryatid is my favorite play
Disappointed you didn't run control flock
Jace Belerin We still love him.
It is quite ironic considering he was the first to attempt to UB control way back in khans, he gave up on it, and it top 8'd under two players in this tournament
Also im personally a fan of Silumgars command, even though its expensive, because it does EVERYTHING u want in control
ozfan6 I find it works quite well, but yes it is too slow... its a counter plus kill usually, or kill plus bounce. in one card thats over average if you add up the costs
@Ethan Summer no, he pointed to his coast to show he targeted that with Satyr, but good call
omg how magic has changed i havent played since ice age i started alphas and betas and legends
Hey at 45:46 ish isn't he only supposed to get one token
Ok so can someone explain something to me? id appreciate it. At 12:00 or so, Tian combos out. Now I understand the cornucopia version, where you find an altar of the brood, but I still dont understand the dragon mantle version.
So Tian plays dragon mantle using the mana creature, draws, and the creature untaps. Then he plays the helix using the mana creature and it untaps. Then he taps the mana creature to bounce the dragon mantle but doesnt have any mana to play it back!
Someone pls explain
ashockfan OH does it require the 2 ascendancies? Like do their 2 untap triggers stack, and in responce to the first one resolving you play something before the second resolves? is that it?
someone pleaaaase explain. Thanks
ashockfan yes they stack and in response he tanks one mana in his manapool....he could do the combo with 1 more mana creature or like in this situation with 2 ascendancies
MrLajo1 Thanks!
Jason Fell well at least we understand now :D
@Ethan Summer he was supposed to take a damage I believe

Does the Jeskai combo only win by milling? I mean... Can't the player who's using the jeskai combo mill themselves to death before they can mill the other player?
NPC_Tsaab you don't have to draw and discard, it says you may
32:19 Tian looted first and then untapped creatures, is this correct order of resolving Ascendancy triggers?
EsquireRu player has priority over that trigger
They trigger at the same time so the owner gets to pick how they go on the stack.
who beat floch in this pro tour?
How can i get Tian's deck list?
Stephen Madden should run reving melody in his strength from the fallen deck. lots of creatures and enchantments in there
Can anyone help me find Lee shi Tian's decklist for this?
Oh the simpler days of Revised MtG...
why in the world would floch (game 2) have disdainful stroke?! Not sure of his build I grant that, so I don't know if he could of sided in negates, but I mean come on... most ascendancy abuse decks run a max cmc of 3 via the ascendancy.
I believe he was anticipating Polukranos since he did play it at Pro Tour Khans of Tarkir. I admire his methodology when formulating his sideboard.
anybody got any tips for blue black control digging cards?
Lucas Thybeck-söderberg watch shota yasooka play his matches in this same pro tour he use jace's ingenuity
psssssssh, FIRE-BREATHING TREES!!!! HAHAHAHAHA
Well I know what I want to play. Sultai Control with Torrent Elemental as a finisher.... COME AT ME BRU
ashockfan Or just throw in copies of torrent ele and Oujitai into esper control :P.... yea ok thats better....
on another note, im putting in lots of cycle cards, like bittter rev and grumag drowner, etc.
Floch you can win this pro tour you got this
/nervously/ ...first? *hides*
rawdog? haha
I'm pretty sure he just cheated again. In game 2, he tapped a voyaging satyr, a caryatid, and a temple of plenty to play the Jeskai Ascendancy. How is that possible. Am I crazy or does anyone else see it as well?
Ethan Summer He wanted to float a mana because he knew he had ascendency. He pointed to the Bivouac.
Jonathan Bays OK i figured I was the one who was missing something and I was almost positive he was floating something to get mana from the ascendancy I just never saw him point
Ethan Summer so you figured you were missing something and you assumed he was floating mana, yet you immediately say hes cheating
