- First off, all video credit goes to TheRunawayGuys, RayWilliamJohnson, and whoever made the salt is the way of life part.
Secondly, I wanted to make this ever since the part where ProtonJon got the Ztar AFTER getting the 1 star hex on him, which cost him the game against Chugga.
Lastly, when TRG finishes the main boards of Mario Party DS, I'll try to make a video on it and discuss where TRG should go with Mario Party since 9 and 10 are a bit...well, unusual.
With all that said, let's mine some salt.
Edit: I realized that I wrote Ballard instead of Ballad. I misspell it thinking it's interchange-able. I was wrong. Ballad is correct and Ballard is reserve only for Harold Ballard. If you are Maple Leafs fan...well, I apologize for bring him up.
Jon loses 1 star but then the game goes,
"But wait, there's more!"

Mario party DS is probably the most brutal in the series.
You can literally go from dominating the board to dead last in ONE TURN.

I have no shame in admiting that after the last time this gae screw me over I put all the CUP characters on easy and bonus stars off (yes the game was always crual with me in terms of bonus stars in the sense that even if it look like I should got one or more nope)

Actually, the CPU picking Waluigi is not just bad luck for Jon. The AI is programed to take items from the 3rd player first if they have an item, which makes it REALLY unfair

I think Mario Party DS was generous for me… or I had Emile’s level of luck through the entire Story Mode?
I got a Ztar out of a hidden block once and it terrified me so badly that I turned hidden blocks off for YEARS afterwards.

It's kind of crazy how much Mario Party DS cranks up the game's swingy-ness up to 11. Items being the cheapest they've ever been and being able to be bought in bulk on each visit to the shop means Star counts get real high, not to mention the amount of Star stealing and ways to get free Stars. If you know how to take advantage of this you can rack up huge uncontestable leads, but if you don't know or just get really unlucky (like Jon) you can get pounded into the dirt real hard.
It's really astonishing, how much this game was just shitting on Jon!

This game has some interesting boards and fun looking mini games... but damn if this isn't weirdly weighted so heavily in luck. When people complain about later Maruo Party games being primarily luck based (they aren't, it just feels that way), they clearly never played/saw someone play, Mario Party DS.
