Looks like this works very similarly to a Raft build. You should be able to guarantee your first foundation is perfectly straight by driving the skiff, exiting, and not touching the left/right controls.

True that way works for plenty of people. But the skiff still moves when you hover. Why I prefer solid ground. But hey if it works :)

Man I can't place my turrets on top, say that requires foundation but I place and I still can't, any advice?

If your in single player, check the settings at the ark main menu. Might be a simple check box.
