I feel so sorry for anyone who wasn't able to see it in theaters, while also extremely grateful I was able to.

I didn't get to see it in theaters either. Nearest one to me that showed it I think was in texas....i live in mississippi. I broke down and found the movie online to watch. Thankfully it was a good one but I do hope to get myself a copy of it to own.
I already got the Blu-Ray of Shin Gojira this month. :)
I watched it for the first time this past weekend, and.... I thought it was good. It's not a masterpiece that so many make it out to be, but it was a decent and well made film. Loved how they used sound effects from the Showa series for stuff like buildings crumbling, tails smacking against the ground, G's roar etc.
It makes sense Shin Godzilla being a 100% reboot, including the original, for how different it is. Shin has so many new habilities and is so grotesque that shouldn't step on the other incarnations. Since the franchise always had time travel and weird scifi, I wouldn't be surprised if they make a "Day of the Doctor" movie with multiple Godzillas, Shin could be the wvil one.
Dude I also had to wait for it to come on dvd and blu ray

I live in a country which didn´t get any Godzilla movies besides the american ones in theater.
And by "Next time, the review", we´ll be getting a new Atomic Roast ?

Funny, I always loved the idea that it's called True Godzilla, because it is literally 100% what the character stands For.

If you're talking about Shin Godzilla specifically, then I don't get what says "true" about him, since he's a totally different version of the character, leading some to separate him as a different monster entirely. I thought the whole True Godzilla thing was petty, especially since 2014 wasn't a bad version or a bad movie. Plus they sold the rights, no need to be bitches about it. But I can see how some would think it's funny, I just don't get your comment. Could you tell me what you meant? I don't get what you're saying the character stands for? American Godzillas suck? I just can't figure it out.

And it is for this reason - and many others - that I have and always refer to this...thing...as "Faux Godzilla" - as in, artificial...made in imitation...Not Genuine...Fake...
Because in a lot of ways, this thing is just an "imitation Godzilla" but not REALLY Godzilla at all. The only thing this creature has in-common with Godzilla, is the fact that it destroys cities. But it's missing the most crucial element that makes Godzilla unique; Personality. We see bits of it here and there across the franchise that indicate Godzilla is a thinking animal - even in the original Gojira when he snaps his jaws at the Clock-Tower when it begins to chime - something a living animal would do. It helped create the effect of Godzilla being ALIVE...
But THIS thing...it feels like it only exists to facilitate the function of the movie; it has no motivation, no personality, and certainly doesn't exhibit any thinking ability. It's like it just exists and wants to facilitate its own existence. There's no Motive for it being there at all.
So yeah, I refuse to use that name for it. "God" Godzilla ultimately sounds redundant - if not downright cringe-worthy. And "True" just sounded insulting; because even if this was a Japanese Produced Godzilla film...it still wasn't Godzilla; so the Title is a downright lie. But I even had my own problems with "New" despite how redundant it sounded...
And here's the story of why. A friend of mine on DA had his own Fan-Series in Godzilla-Art, aesthetic and stories; he called it "Shin Godzilla" - as in "New Generation Godzilla." And I had grown an investment in it as well; I enjoyed his work and even enjoyed it when I was allowed to contribute to the continuity.
Then the title for the Movie dropped...And it literally felt like Toho was giving us an indirect "Cease and Desist" order. Because now, there was NO way we could continue using the name "Shin Godzilla". (Not that it matters anymore, the friend and I have had a falling out since then for completely unrelated reasons.)
So right off the bat, I was already against this new movie, because I was hoping that "Shin" was just a place-holder for the title, and they'd eventually get a BETTER title...Then the design leaked on the internet...where Godzilla looked like a Muppet after a Meth-lab explosion...So I immediately knew that this movie was trying to be "artsy" for "artsy-sake" instead of actually concerned with delivering a good story that honored the history of the character. (It was all about trying to put Godzilla in a box and restricting any other input or interpretation of Godzilla from getting in.)
Then the trailer dropped...and I was even less than impressed. Godzilla's design was not only bad, but he looked terrible on-screen as well; parts of the CGI didn't look finished, the character-itself was too stiff, and that tail - by god the tail - is unnatural; that thing defies both basic muscle-limitations AND gravity.
So needless to say, I wasn't pleased at all with this new design, nor was I excited for it or to see it. And what made it worse, was the cacophony of phonies all around me saying how excited they were for it, how cool they thought it was, and how it was sure to be the "Best Godzilla Ever"! (sentiments they'd been saying about Legendary up until just ONE year earlier.)
The movie DID play in my state...it even played in my Home-Town...At a Theater I USED to work-at, and still had enough clout to get free-screenings. But I had no desire to see it. And even if I did, I didn't have a car at the time, so I wasn't going to pay for a 2-hour Cab-Ride down there, and back, just to see something I KNEW I was going to hate.
Then when I finally SAW the actual film...needless to say, my expectations were met exactly as I predicted them to be. Not worth a damn thing...
I freaking loved that movie and was so happy to see it available at my Walmart last week! I'm so sorry you couldn't see it in theaters but I can't wait to see your review of it!
Its Anno being cryptic and leaving it up to the audience for interpretation. Its one of his things.

Well omni viewer i felt that sense of waiting with the movie jurassic world, like almost a decade ago i heard about a 4th jurassic park movie and the internet was crazy on the rumors regarding jp4, but we (including myself) still had yet to see or have real news about a 4th film and i had to wait almost 5 and a half years to see jurassic world come into theaters to revive a nearly extinct film franchise which is still very popular today. I've waited a long time and boy what a journey of evolution it was i took to wait to go see jurassic world in 2015 and things back then felt so different then now, like if there's nothing left to speculate or wonder about. I see your point on how u waited a long time to see shin godzilla.

In this movie you get to see something come out of the water that will become Godzilla from turning in to a big Godzilla in looks and size and with new powers that makes him more powerful that he never had before making it hard to stop him and be able to come up with even better ones from having his new powers to fight with making them come up with more powerful munsters to go up against

I have the movie and to be honest I was disappointed by some of the movie not all but some. I realize they were trying to make a monster movie more on a realistic aspect such as shin godzilla moving based off physics such as mass, size, weight and movement. In the real world no creatures could withstand its own size and weight because they would be crushed internally as well as collapse from overheating, collapsed lungs and shatter their bones due to the massive force that gravity would press down on them. If you have ever tried doing push ups or sit ups being out of shape it takes everything to continue trying to raise your body. Now imagine going from 5ft 7 to 397ft tall going from 200 lbs to 97,000 tons and trying to move your body. You could only imagine how difficult it would be. Our climate isn't sustainable for giants of that size, hell even dinosaurs from the jurassic period wouldn't be able to move around in our environment because the air had thinned out meaning they couldn't breathe normal and would suffocate. The air in the jurassic period was thick which stabilizes creatures of that period. Godzilla was never meant to entertain that reality it was more a political drive by Japan after Hiroshima. According to Toho Godzilla in reality was America, we were the giant monster seeking to destroy everything with atomic weapons. Later more monsters were politically created such as Rodan being Russia and a natural enemy of Godzilla or Russia vrs America with Japan in the middle. Shin on the other hand was a direct attack against America for engaging in bio weapons which created shin. Sadly our government in America is engaging in bio weapon technology which should frighten you, they've already used it against us and the rest of the world via covid. Japan doesn't put out Godzilla movies anymore but strangely they did this one time for the purpose of sending a hidden message to the world. America is developing and engaging in biological technology and is once again becoming dangerous. Whenever the media comes out saying there might be new outbreaks in the fall what they are really telling you is we are going to get hit with another biological dose of a new virus they created. What I didn't like in shin Godzilla was that the US government took over or tried to take over control of the military operations so they could have an excuse to use a nuke. Hiroshima was a planned out experiment to test atomic weapons meaning the US intentionally started a war with Japan for that sole purpose. People are starting to realize our government then and now are nothing but sick warmongers wo enjoy money, death and destruction. In truth we are the evil version of Godzilla.
Now, why did you wait till now, when you could have just watched it online? Now, I'm not advocating the typical practice of watching movies online instead of going to the theatre, but in an instance where you will be purchasing the Blu-ray, no if's, and's, or but's, and where you even run a Godzilla channel, then absolutely watch it online. Just make sure you give them money when its time. ........?
Mostly because I don't trust the websites where it might have been uploaded to not give my computer a virus and destroy all of my work...again. I've had that happen too many times already in the past, so nowadays, I exercise extreme caution.

Maybe so, but "true", "new", and "god" were the only translations ever brought up in regards to Shin Godzilla, and that was by the Toho reps themselves. Those three meanings are clearly the only ones that apply to the production. At least, I don't see how the translation "Humble Godzilla" fits at all.
True, But I think these Kanji's of Shin can be interpreted to any of them, I always thought that the Reason why True New and God were big channels and websites who saw the meaning and tried to find the most likely definition, seeing how they are more definition to count, they just chose three likely candidates, when really there are more to count. Hideaki Anno doesn't seem the kind of guy to have a stick in his nether regions like other directors do, He likes putting things up for interpretation, A lot of things in his previous works are like that, especially the title. I don't think he would just leave it up for three definitions, Humility might not apply to Godzilla himself but more to the people who try to take him down and how they respond to it. True might not be comparing to the 2014 film, but it might also be comparing to TOHO's previous films in the Godzilla Franchise.
