Thanks. When we filmed this docu for my parents in Holland, we had not the vaguest idea how much pleasure it would give to viewers 60 years later!

2:03 was the main entrance to the post office, I still remember what it looked like inside. That's my memory of 60 years ago. Thanks for posting the video.

So glad to hear that you recognized my slide of the funeral parlour. It does not often happen that people in my clips are recognized! This was a sad occasion of course. Your grandmother wouldn't recognize Macau nowadays anymore.

Thanks a million Michael Rogge. Could not believe my eyes. At 3:00 minutes on the video, there is a 3 second clip showing my grandfather's funeral, at our family home
located at 47, Rua de Praia Grande in 1960. At that time I was studying in England and could not make the funeral. It was a grand Chinese style house. I also remember dancing on the beautiful patio of the Bella Vista Hotel in the late 50's.Quite romantic but yes it was a little run down.

Dear Michael, a pleasant surprise to receive your quick reply. I have so far managed to view 10 of your videos & look forward to the rest. Having read many of the comments, I think I just run out of superlatives to describe my admiration for your effort in compiling this incredible and absolutely wonderful collection of old Hong Kong and old Macau. My favourite is the one of you walking from McDonnell Road down to Central. The steps are still there & so is Battery Path. Such nostalgia! Cheers.

I was born in Hongkong but my childhood from 1950 to 1960 was in Macau. Now in Canada. Yet I love Macau at that time more than Macau Today.

I was born in China and my childhood from 1958-1970 were there. I missed Macau very much and loved it as my motherland. Now I live in Toronto. Like to link up with Macau friends to share old good memory. Did any photo/clip about Hin Kee Bakery (my ex-dad worked there).

    Michael
Did you ever stay at the Bella Vista ? - it was a fantastic place. It was very run down when I stayed their in the early eighties but it overlooked the river that divide Macau from China.

It was a glorious colonial style hotel in its day for years it was run down and a very cheap place to stay and after the handover to China, it is now the residence of the Portuguese consul.

So sorry, I don't have any old Macau pics. Too poor to afford a camera on those days, as 1950-1960.
