Thank you for the awesome review! While we all hope no one buys a meter this size as their only test instrument, this one is pretty good bang-for-buck as a second, or pocket, glove box, tool box, armchair...whatever turns your crank.
Not bad. It's a good little meter. The only small detractor for me is lack of battery test function. I end up using it pretty regularly to test batteries in my daughter's toys. If you don't need it, this is a good around the house meter.
One small typo.. length 10.96mm is either 10.96cm or 109.6mm. But everyone gets it (at least in the metric thinking crowd). Thanks for review, i love the effect/music cuts in your videos. Seen both versions of this meter on shops, and was every time confused why they didnt change the type number.
Thx for the kudos ! Us Canadians are a weird bunch..we use both Metric and Imperial...we buy gas by the liter and build houses by the inch 🤔 Glad you're enjoying the channel. I totally agree (as do many others) this should have been named the AN102 !
I thought that would get your attention! I picked this meter up new on Ebay about 8 years ago..I honestly haven't seen another one. It has the ICM 7106 on a 40 pin DIP. A real classic as you know 😅
@@KeepOnTesting I have several UNI-T 830 series meters (all in black cases), but their original chip is always a COB on a small daughterboard soldered onto DIP pads. In one of them the chip was broken (burnt 3 V output) and I easily replaced it with a DIP 7106.
$37 bucks on AMAZON, what's up with that!!! I love the fact that it has a dedicated AC and DC position on the dial and dual OFF position on opposite ends. It's a beautiful meter. She's a keeper in the glove box.
Geez.. I would negate Amazon and purchase via AliExpress. Btw, the dual OFF was on the older version which lacked Frequency, Capacitance and NCV. It's a keeper as you said !

He Darren. Thank you for this review... oh, no sorry. Thank you for ALL your reviews ;-) I was just wondering if you will not include the VENLAB VM-600A in the top 10 cheap multimeters. Cheers from Madrid - Spain.
Hi my friend! Many thanks 😊 We will have the CHEAP-O TOP Ten updated in February...I'm fairly certain the Venlab will make it in the TOP Ten 😉 btw...¿Cómo estás Madrid !!
There is not the slightest chance, that this DMM is fit for CAT III. Not without shrouded plugs on the test leads! Hence it is not recommented to work at mains with it. Aside of that: This DMM is a pretty versatile device. Pretty perfect for beginners in electronics, for car electrics or for use as a "just in case of" and "on the go" unit. The multi purpose plastic case is a very good idea, the standard 4mm connection is very useful. I´m just asking myself, how the next iteration should be: 9999 Counts and powered by two 2032´s (to pass the LED test complete)?
So true, not a proper CAT rating but I think most people will use it for the reasons you listed. A beefed up diode mode and a temp range would definitely put this one on top 👌
@23:30 I just figured out what those range selector spring arms look like: Mickey Mouse's gloved hand. Doesn't seem to be any function to those inner bumps in the end user usage. Perhaps during manufacturing assembly there are some grippers or features that engage the inside of that region. Ah, the things that keep me up at night...💡🛌
This meter is indeed quite great! There is no excuse not to have one in the car and one on each floor of your house as well as one in each of your coats so you never have to look for it.
I just ordered the AN101 for $4.79 USD on Ali Express I had to spend about $2.50 extra on other stuff to get free shipping but getting a decent pocket meter for less than the price of a 1/4 pound fast food burger is a win in my book.
I got this meter a while back after seeing your video and was greatly satisfied. If only it came with better leads and a louder buzzer. I use this more often than my ut 60s, autorange is faster on the an101.
I have one. I like the removable case and probes. But I prefer my Triplett 2030c which has similar functions but will measure higher current (400 mA), and the case is more rugged. But it is $50Cdn!
Unfortunately the IC is a 48 pin cobbed package so it's almost impossible to pinpoin the source.. It's definitely not a Dreamtech..perhaps a Cyrustech or equivalent! How do you like the multimeter ? 👍 Thx for watching 👀
I just love how the video escalates from "it didn't even come with a box" to: 1. It only costs $8.🤔 2. It comes with a plastic case with a more or less functional tilt stand.🤨 3. The grooves on the selector switch are nice and big.🧐 4. The font on the 4000-count display (not 2000) is not large but contrast enough.🙂 5. The readings are fast and accurate (for this kind of meter).😏 6. Some ranges are even higher than in meters, more than twice its price.😳 7. Test leads are not captive. And, hey, it's not some weird proprietary diameter, even standard-sized leads can fit. 😲 8. It has better NCV with no antennae than some regular-sized meters.🤯 This ANENG is full of surprises.😵
It's definitely full of surprises but in a good way , hehe. Yes I was all ticked because I got no box...dang I'm shallow at times but I quickly forgot about the crappy cardboard and soon realized what a pocket gem this ANENG is!! Thx for watching my friend 😊👍
What a deal..9$ Canadian 6$ US...get it while you can! ANENG AN101 s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_mtjx9LY

I hear ya..still a tough one to beat. If it had TEMP and a dedicated battery test function these would sell like hotcakes. 👍

Sweet! Thanks for doing a comparison of this upgraded version, especially the PCB's all side-by side. I knew you would like it! 🥰
You definitely got that right Paul ! Thx for requesting a review of this awesome meter, it's nice to see ANENG finally hit a home run 🏃♂️
[10:37] A UNI-T 830 in a RED case? Where can I find it?

I've only seen the black cased UNI-T 830s . That's why I was shocked when I came across this red beauty..goes great with the whole UNI-T vibe.
@@KeepOnTesting And I've only seen red in later series of UNI-T meters, like UT33B/C/D.

Looks to be decent all things taken into consideration. Available in the UK as a rebrand, case included for £12.66!

Hi my friend, yes I should be reviewing that model next month !
A little redemption after the last few Aneng's, I think I'll pick one of these up. Darren have Zotek sent you a ZOYI ZT-703S? looks interesting
Hi Shaun, for the ZOTEK 703S, hopefully I'll have it soon. Yessir Aneng really did a 360 with this release 😅
Holy smokes. The plug-in leads alone! Somebody make more of those in the pocket meter world!
Right eh ?! What a thoughtful lil pocket meter ANENG put out..shows how much you can do with so little!
Nice DMM. On the protection side, it's a bit weak. I think, I will get one (or two?) of them.. Also the 4mm-plugs are a nice feature.
Sounds like a plan! Those removable and upgradable leads are a definite bonus 👌
I have ordered one of this upgrade version... Thank you for your review...👍👍
Perfect 👍 Let us know how you like the multimeter!
@@KeepOnTesting yes, it is a cool meter. It is absolutely worth to get 4.5 but I missed the fuse that previous version had one

HT108L is definitely more robust but either would do the job.😊 👍

Its often hit or miss with Aneng but for the price this ones a definite hit.

Logged into Aliexpress and it said welcome price and had the meter at $1.44 cad and $1.33 shipping.... ok.. I'll take it

I went back to get another and it was $11 now.. not sure why I got a deal but I'm not complaining

A thin pocket multimeter, with non-captive test leads? Oh Aneng you do show some occasional flashes of brilliance after all.
