This girl is absolutely amazing, she stayed so long in the wind, mostly without clothes and stayed very serious and professional! I'm impressed! And some great photos of course :)
Stunning photographs taking 110% advantage of harsh and beautiful conditions. Kudos to Lisa for bearing up. Looked so cold but cheery. And way to experiment with features while capturing such beautiful supermodel photos and landscapes! Beautiful!
Hands down, the best real world demonstration of a sensational camera / tool in the hands of a professional. Just sensational. I have the same gear (minus the OM1) and find your work such an inspiration to get out and try and use the features like you do. Please keep up the great work.
Hi Tony! mate, thanks so much for the kind words. I'm glad you gain some inspiration from my work. The cameras are such an awesome little tool to get unique shots with. The best thing is we dont have to worry about the weather conditions! Keep on creating mate!
You sir, have just helped make the decision between Fuji and OM! I started with Nikon with D7000 in 2012, upgraded to D750 in 2016. I bought the original EM5 as my personal camera at the same time as D750 but only used it for holidays and such. Over the course of 7 years I did portraits, family events, corporate events, weddings... I even managed to work on a cruise ship! But then I moved to Mauritius from the UK in 2019 and I had to put the photography aside for a few years to make ends meet. It broke my heart, as furthering my photography career was the reason why I came here in the first place. However, for the past few weeks a fire has burning under my arse and I've become determined not to let my skills die, and to achieve what I originally came here to do. So now, I'm looking to get something up-to-date, light, and easy to use outdoors in any weather conditions. The main brands in Mauritius are: Nikon, Canon, Sony and Fuji.. no room for MFT, and FF is ridiculously expensive! Fuji is marginally more affordable, but as i'm sure you can appreciate as an ozzy, on this side of the world its all expensive! And while fuji's film simulations and colours are attractive, I have a feeling they will go out of fashion eventually. Nothing seems to be able to beat Olympus colour science for skin tones though, especially important when the majority of my clients will not be white. Thank you for your videos on the OM1, they are an inspiration and exactly what I needed to hear right now. All that matters is the end result, and you proved to me beyond a shadow of doubt that MFT is extemely capapable of producing stunning work with people, not just landscapes and wildlife. You're amazing! Thank you for sharing your work and experiences, you earned a new fan today 😊
Hey mate! ha what an amazing comment to receive. Thanks so much for the kind words. I'm glad I could inspire you and help make you decision easier! Fuji is another solid option and my good mate and business partner shoots on that system. Really great features for the price. Really though, whatever you learn on and get good at, you will take far better shots than a noob with an expensive camera! It must be fate though, because you should definitely check out my video i just uploaded tonight as it shows my main commercial jobs using the OM-1! Let me know if you have any questions. Cheers. Matt.
@@etchd_ Hi Matt, I think its definitely fate! Your channel is a fantastic demonstration of "the best tool for the job". I echo your sentiments about learning the camera, I am no artist, I learnt digital cameras when I used to work for PC World 20 years ago, so I know how to make them do what I want, everything else is just customer service. Your ability to be upfront about the different systems you use (and the fact that you are not tied to just 1 system despite being an OM Ambassador) is very refreshing. I thought splitting my gear between 2 brands would make my life and workflow too complicated. I guess my only question to you for now would be, do you consider the OM-1 good enough for studio portraiture? i.e. Am I still better off with FF for that wow factor, for resolution, and look? My plan is to use the D750 for indoor studio, and OM1 for everything else. Either way, thank you so much for responding. The quality of your work, both for your clients and here on RUclips, is amazing. Your new video in particular is just next levels in showing just how versatile the OM1 system is. It gives me hope that my dream of being paid to use my camera every day for the rest of my life is not over, it's not behind me... it is still my destiny! Warmest Regards Shad
Hi there! thanks for the kind words. I definitely don't classify myself as a portrait photographer. But really do enjoy it. Such a good challenge and fun when working with awesome people like Lisa.
Great video. I have just bought an OM1 and I’m looking forward to trying it out. I would never have thought of buying a 17mm prime for portraits but after watching I might have to add it to my lens collection.
Thanks for the love mate. 17mm is a super popular portrait lens actually. Well the 35mm equiv. It's great for getting the environment in without distorting your subject too much !
Really informative to see your process here; would love to see a bit more of a tutorial on how you use the multiple exposure feature. That looks like it has a lot of potential (used to do this with film but so much easier with digital).
Hi Matt, Thanks for creating and sharing so much detail on an actual photo shoot with the new camera! I had just figured out the multiple exposure on my Em5-mkiii this week and you've given me lots of inspiration. I am blown away less by the camera (out of my range for now) and more about your work - both taking the photos and your ability to see and create and obviously work with people. Very cool!
Hi Lyndsay! thanks so much for the beautiful comment. The multiple exposure feature is a lot of fun once you work out which part to shoot first! Honestly, you could get these shots with your camera now, it is just the hit rate might be less due to the AF. Keep on practicing as nothing is ever out of your reach :)
Really like the shots with the 45 1.2 and that rainbow in the background, you hit the jackpot. And really liked the shots with the 2.8 zoom cause I didnt want that beautiful background bokeh’d out with a 1.2. Also amazing how there was no one else there on the beach, it’s like you rented out the entire beach for this session! Awesome video bro
Yo! thanks so much. I absolutely love the 45mm f1.2. It's my fav lens. I just wanted to shoot more wider portraits in this shoot to make it more dramatic :) Yes, sometimes having background in there actually helps. Like when epic clouds and rainbows appear ha. Yes, Curl Curl is a favourite of mine to shoot because it's so beautiful but never anyone there at these times of the day. I've shot a sunrise portrait shoot there with rainbows and it was the same. Thanks for the love on IG too mate! I see you ha
Awesome, I learned heaps watching this video. Props to the model - what a gutsy champion in the cold. Your videos are great to watch and super educational- guess that’s the teacher experience shining through. You’re going to do really well on RUclips. OM Systems are lucky to have you onboard.
Thank you so much Jennifer! Lisa was an absolute star! I hope I can slowly reach more and more people on here. Just need to find the time to film the videos ha :)
@@etchd_ Yes, consistency can be a challenge. But your probably expecting too much from yourself. Lots of ways to make valuable short content to batch and have ready to load when you’re busy. Not every video needs to be a location shoot. Talking head videos with Quick tip Tuesday - Three minute tech tips - camera settings you don’t use, accessories ie LaCie hard drive, backing up photos, how to make files so you can find them later, lens focal length and how to maximise using them. Etc you get the idea. Personal growth in photography, create challenges for people to do. More about you. How I started as a photographer and how I learnt my skills. My ten favourite photos and why I love them. What I do to be more efficient on a photo shoot. How to chase business, brands and new clients. Okay I’ll stop there, but anytime you want ideas ask your audience what they struggle with and you will have an exhaustive list on what to teach. You’re gonna be a star. 🤩
Fantastic video. I love how you experimented all different way to shoot creatively! The rainbow and sunset under the thick cloud were best gift from the weather. Risky but rewarding!
Love the tones and Lisa looks stunning in those sunset shots! Good to see you can crank up the ISO without a worry. Looking forward to the new camera - BTW often shoot that location (such a good spot for seascapes!)
Hi mate! thanks so much. Yes, she was the perfect girl to bring to the job! Yes, I have seen your shots from here! amazing. Once I get some non-work time off, I will come over and we can shoot!
Great video. Brilliant images and hats off to Lisa for being so willing and an excellent model. Nice to see you using different techniques to test the camera. Impressive results.
Great to see how you work Matt, composing with the LCD screen. I rarely use the screen largely because I would need to use my reading glasses, and doing that whilst moving is difficult, and then having to remove them when using the EVF. Its annoying because I really feel I am missing out on shots/perspectives by using the EVF almost 100%
I LOVE YOUR WORK! I truly enjoy these types of videos you make and I got no words to describe your photography 🙌👑 Please give us more! And the model was absolutely brilliant. Nice work!
HI fredrik, thank you so much for the lovely words! I'm glad it resonates with you. I hope you learnt something as well. Lisa is an absolute star! Shame she's left for Spain now. I wish I could do more of these videos, but with a 1 year old at home and endless commercial work coming in, it's hard. Hopefully soon 😊
@@etchd_ Family and work always comes first. If everything goes well my first child will be born in February. Priorities tend to shift when you've become a parent.. at least so I've heard. But if you somehow got the time in the future to make more of these I'll bet I'm not the only one who'll be enjoying them. I think I'll try to make a dubble exposure like the ones you did with my pregnant fiance in a moody forest here in Sweden. Thank you for the inspiration.
Matt, this is the third time I have watched this video because everything is just so... dang... gorgeous! Looking forward to getting my hands on this camera, which is challenging these days.
Hi Christopher, thanks so much for the love mate! I'm glad its worthy of watching multiple times :) Hopefully you can get one into your kit soon as it's an awesome camera!
Hands down the best photo shoot video I've seen. Perfect combination of amazing gear, raw talent, a beautiful and dedicated model and a generous serving of wild weather. Subscribing with the hope of seeing more of this kind of content. Love your work 👌
Thanks for the really kind words! The stars aligned for this shoot. I wish I had time to go and film more of these as it was super fun. Hopefully in the future :) thanks for the sub.
After watching all the OM-1 videos, I had the chance to get a hands on with it today. It exceeded my expectations. Going to bite the bullet and pre-order it.
@@etchd_ Probably direct from Olympus/OMDS here in the UK. There's doesn't seem to be advantage from the stores, except maybe supporting the store. My regular place doesn't seem to have an allocation, possibly because they are not an authorised dealer.
Excellent photos, video and people, well done! Even the brown dress in the beginning contrasted the green bush, must have been planned🙂 I'm on EM5 mkii, planning to maybe first get a cheaper EM1 mkiii, can it do the two image overlays you were playing with? Thanks for sharing inspirational work, and interesting to see how much you use the LCD for lower angle shots, Im going to practice that more.. Will be checking your presets! Thanks Matt😊👍
Hi there! thanks so much for the lovely feedback. Yes, haha I made sure Lisa brought some earthy coloured clothing with her for this shoot. She sent me images of what she could get and what pairing she thought would work and I chose out of that. The MKIII and i believe even the MKII can do the multi exposure. That's what i shoot a lot of my wedding stuff on and have used it quite a bit. Takes some practice, but the results look awesome. I always use the LCD, so much safer and you can get creative angles. Awesome, let me know if you need any help using them :)
Thanks for that video, very inspirational. That very last picture of her: was it also a double exposure? Did you do both the blue and red light with the LED? How did you achieve the lens flare?
Hi mate, thanks for the love. Glad you enjoyed it. Yes, it was a double exposure which I took the first exposure manually on some lights in the distance and then used the in-camera double exposure blend to shoot the portrait. I had two LED panels for the colour contrast. Any lens flare is just from the panels but was unintentional :)
@@etchd_ Great, thanks for answering. Just wainting for my model (= GF) to get back from a trip, then I'm gonna try and see if I can get similar results :)
@@etchd_ also sent it to my gf so she can pick some outdoor modeling tips. basically being more dynamic. btw, I never used my olympus for portrait, the f5.6 cant do it in busy urban environment vs a f1.8 85mm. but i might give it a try if we go landscape portrait one day where bokeh is less critical.
Man, amazing job! The set of photos are super good. But the rainbow photos and sunset photos near the end are incredible! So tempted to upgrade my em1 mk ii. Great job dude! And major props to the model as well!🔥👏🏽
Hey dude. Thanks so much for the love mate! Man the light was so good right? I get all excited when stuff like that happens on my shoots ha The autofocus compared to the MKII will blow you away! Still, I love my MKII and use it for my underwater shots all the time. Thanks again mate.
Cheers John, I bet it is an anxious wait. I'm always excited when I order something new like that and hate the delays in it getting into my hands ha. What type of tracking are you going to be using the most?
@@etchd_ Hi Matt! I will be using face/eye autofocus tracking for portraits the most. But also for dogs. We have two bordercollies and both of them doing frisbee and agility. I tried the Canon R6 and the autofocus tracking is awesome but the image quality is equal to my mkiii. After 2 months I decided I will not leave my Olympus gear because of the OM-1. The best combination of functionality, durability, IQ and portability.
if you are able to pull this magnificent shoot in this crappy weather it is a testimony to your talent and this great camera/lens, most gear other than OM /Olympus will pull back in the safety and forfeit the shoot to another day…really WOW camera…!
Hi mate! Thanks so much for the kind words! Ha, yes, it really does help creativity when you can just shoot no matter the conditions. I really had an awesome time using the camera for this and can't wait to share more with you guys!
Hi Etchd, it would be great to have a series of videos on "OM-1 Setting for..." Portrait, Bird, Landscape, Sport, etc.; whatever you feel comfortable with.
Hi Rui, sorry for the late reply. I have been swamped with jobs and my YT has suffered. A best settings video is on the cards, I just need to find some time to slot them all in.
Hi Matt, love the look of the video you captured. If you don't mind me asking what were the video settings (muted profile, natural, log etc? Did you turn down internal sharpening etc). Appreciate the help as I have the GH6 and the OM1 pre-ordered. I prefer the simplicity of the OM1 having use olympus for over 10 years, however the lure of the expanded DR mode of the GH6 caught my eye. However your video looked superb. Appreciate the time spent on these reviews.
Hi mate. Thanks for the love! Glad you enjoyed the video. Yep so It was shot in OM-Log400, h.265 and nothing else changed. You cant actually change the sharpness or anything for video when shooting in Log. The GH6 would definitely be a better option if you are dedicated to just video, but with the AF being as bad as it is, it;s no good as a hybrid for stills, at least if you need AF. I'm hoping with firmware the OM-1 will become an even better video camera!
Thanks for the love mate, ahh you could if shooting at 40mm +, but otherwise you'll have very sharp shots that don't have a huge amount of depth. Really it's up to you and how much blur you want!
Matt, your review and work with this camera has inspired me to pick one up. My only downside is I have an older version of Lightroom and would need to use DNG files to edit. If you ever have time, could you test and see if you experience a quality loss?
@@LonerMob Ahh I see! Honestly, all these shots were edited with .dng files because lightroom hadn't supported the ORF files yet, so no difference in quality that I could see :)
Fantastic images! Certainly proves that the camera is the tool and the artist is the one with the vision. Tough conditions for everyone, but boy do the conditions make for some awesome final images. :)
Much appreciated Peter! Im certain i could have gotten these images with the EM1MKIII, its just the number of useable shots would be far less as the AF on this new cam is so damn good. Yes, I absolutely love conditions that are wild. And if you can find the right people to work with in those conditions, its a recipe for a win!
Thanks so much mate! Definitely, especially if the product isnt moving and you can use the hand held hi res. The image quality that comes out of it is better than full frame!
Watch your video really make me want to order the OM-1. I’m had the Em1 Mkii and Em10 Mkiii for few years with the complete range of F1.8 lenses and the holy trinity F2.8 lenses. But now I can’t decide between the OM-1 and the GH6 since I would like to venture into videography these day. But I still like to take picture. For me OM-1 still lacks of the video spec to compete with other mirrorless camera nowadays. 4K 60fps is sweet but 4K 120 fps 10bit 4:2:0 is the minimum standard at least. Waiting for the update information on Prores raw using the Atomos ninja v with the OM-1 for FHD 120fps and then maybe we’ll see.
Ha thanks mate! I never try and make anyone buy anything, but hopefully can show you what is possible with any of this gear. I mean I could potentially have gotten these shots with the older models, but the hit rate would have been less. The video definitely wouldn't have looked as nice though ;). The GH6 is a powerhouse of video features, it was always going to be. But i think if you are wanting a hybrid then the autofocus of the GH6 would really annoy you and limit what is possible there. Even with video. I'd stick around and see what firmware is introduced for the OM-1! Im banking on some good stuff coming out.
@@etchd_ It's the GH6 Autofocus that's really making it hard for me when it comes to having a good hybrid. I want to venture into cinematography as well, so I really hope there's an update for the OM-1. In a perfect world I would just have both lol. I wonder what OM will do when a G9 successor is brought about as well.
Hey brotha I need some feedback from you. I purchased the OM-1 (I’m mostly a full frame Nikon shooter Z6II and I also use an ApSC D500 for my bird and wildlife photography. However I finally took my OM-1 for a spin yesterday and while it was a joy to use and the speed was mind blowing I was ultimately disappointed. However when I brought the many in focus photos home I noticed the quality was pretty bad. The noise was really really bad. But the ISO never really got super high although 1 factor was that I have to contend with the fact a pretty overcast day. Due to that I made sure to watch my ISO as it did pretty well and only maxed out at like 3200. When I use my my d500 for birds in flight I have to keep my shutter speed between 2,000 -3,200 to be able to get good in focus shots. So followed the same formula yesterday as I kept my shutter speed that high yesterday on the OM-1 with bird subject detection on. Was that too high maybe? Or should I have gone lower perhaps (I know depends on the situation). Another factor is I put a 300 F4 pro IS lens on with a 2 X teleconverter and that’s turned it into 1200 (F8). So maybe that was a mistake to use that on an overcast day. Im guessing it was. I also have a 1.4 tele which makes it 5.6. Maybe as a test I should try it without a tele completely. Lastly at the end of the day when I brought what I thought was many good photos home and into “Lightroom” I noticed they were not as good as even my D500 photos on similar overcast days, but I’ll have to check my settings I used. Maybe I used a much slower shutter speed for the non moving birds. In recap I was initially extremely excited to used the camera and was blown away by its features but the photo quality which is one of the most important things too me just wasn’t there. Definitely not better that my other cameras. Is this because it is only 12 bit? What do you think? Have you had any awesome looking photos “sharp” little to no noise on an overcast day? Would a flash have been beneficial that day for single shot photos? Thanks man. I have seen your work though out the years and really respect it.
Hi mate, thanks so much for the message. Sorry for the late reply, I have been out on commercial jobs for weeks. YT has suffered as a consequence. May I ask, have you updated your Lightroom (If that's what you edit with) and if so, have you relooked at the images? There is a chance that the older version was not reading the image metadata correctly and instead, interpreting it as the older model cameras. I've not really noticed any issues in quality on overcast days, and I just got back from shooting with the 150-400mm for a commercial job where there were tonnes of overcast days. what does effect it though is the ambient moisture in the air when shooting at those extreme lengths. You will never get tack sharp images in those conditions. I can't comment on the shutter speed thing without knowing what you were shooting and how much movement there was. Also, when you say the quality wasnt as good, what do you mean? just noise, or was there banding and artifacts as well? I find for birds in flight that arent too close, a shutter speed of even 1/1000s with good panning motion is enough. But again, it all depends. Remember your d500 has a larger and different type of sensor and larger glass, so the settings will likely need to change a little. Sorry I couldn't be of more help!
Thank you for the work done! I subscribe to you and consider you and Chris Eyre-Walker the best bloggers describing the OM-1 camera! After your work, many people have answers to their questions. In my opinion, the OM-1 is at least a great camera, despite the comments and feedback from the owners of the full-frame camera. I also think that the presentation could have been more interesting and informative, so many were disappointed with the wow effect. I would like more stories about shooting videos, for example, about white balance.I would also really appreciate it if you would share some video footage (om log 400) to try the color setting yourself. Thanks.
Thank you for the kind words. Chris is an amazing creator and has been in the game for sometime now! I always try and do reviews to answer questions that I myself would like answers too. The presentation I guess was very conservative, which makes sense being a Japanese company. I've got many video ideas in the works, just need time to get them done. Shoot me an email etchdphotography@outlook.com and ill send you some footage.
Finally, a guy with a camera and a girl on the beach and no tacky photos just really nice images. (Sorry, a bit of a rant because sometimes when a guy gets a girl in front of a camera it gets all sports illustrated swimsuit---more T&A than photography). I'm a full-time commercial photographer who in a previous life was a director of photography for publications in NYC and so I've seen my fare share of portfolios/websites. Like your work a lot and look forward to seeing how you develop your eye going forward.
Hi there! Thanks so much the support mate. It means a lot hearing that, as I am all too aware of the contrived nature that swimsuit shoots can become. I have zero interest in that type of stuff, and prefer to get out and have fun and do spur of the moment style shoots like this that are more organic in nature. I appreciate the feedback on my work! It is an ever evolving beast that never sticks to one genre. But it's been a whole lot of fun learning new aspects of the craft, and particularly video. I hope to see you on the next one. Cheers.
Hi Matt, I am really curious what AF settings for portraits you were using. I have very mixed results with my OM-1. Even with the Pro lenses you have. Thx in advance!
Hi John, thanks for the comment. It varies, but usually always have C-AF turned on and depending how fast i have to move e.g. running with the model and how dynamic they are moving I'll vary between full width selection and a targeted box. If they are moving fast ill also turn the speed of the C-AF to +1. It's really about practice and learning what you can get away with.
@@etchd_ thx Matt! So c-af speed is normally default. Do you use all focus points or just a limited set? I saw that the custom focus area modes not using all focus points. Have a nice weekend! Cheers!
One more question, regarding OM-1 and seaspray: I used my brand new OM-1 (with 12-40 pro mk1) in Greece 2 weeks ago and basically a wave broke over my head. I washed it off with tap water afterwards and let everything try. It works mostly normal, but the front wheel now gets very hard to turn from time to times (even hurting my fingers), which can really cause stress if I need to change settings fast.... Any idea what to do? I don't think warranty will help me there...
Hey mate, ahh that has happened to me many times! Although the wheels never been stuck. I suspect some sand got pushed into it. The MK1 isnt as weather sealed as the MKII i believe. I'm not sure what to do other than get it serviced by an authorized repair place. Sorry!
Hi Mirko, thanks for the watch. I have no idea sorry, I've not used the Sigma and they are different focal lengths so really can't fairly compare I'd say.
Nope don’t use full frame for any of my work really. Check out my video on using Olympus cameras for weddings. I’ll have a new OM1 video coming out soon

@@etchd_ I’d be interested, too!
Those just got better and better as the video went on. Beautiful bnw treatments and well 👌
Ahh much love! The light was just so amazing and it was a super fun shoot!
How I started as a photographer and how I learnt my
skills.
Thanks so much!
10:37 Bravo. Killer lighting still needs amazing composition. You nailed it. 👏🏼
Thanks so much mate! glad you liked it ;)
Love the tones and Lisa looks stunning in those sunset shots!
Hi Trevor, thanks so much! Yes, Lisa was an absolute trooper! Glad you enjoyed the vid!
Awesome shots!
You’ve got an eye for portraiture for sure
I especially liked the colors you got from the photos at 15:15
Thanks for sharing :)
I appreciate the support! I’d love to shoot more portraits !!
Great video and Pictures! Well done!
Ahh thanks so much 🙏🙏😁
Nice photos mate. The shots down on the beach are my favourites. Keep the great videos coming.
Cheers Grant! It was such a fun shoot!
Great to see how you work Matt, composing with the LCD screen. I rarely use the screen largely because I would need to use my reading glasses, and doing that whilst moving is difficult, and then having to remove them when using the EVF. Its annoying because I really feel I am missing out on shots/perspectives by using the EVF almost 100%
btw the work that has gone into these videos is just remarkable, greatly appreciated; and the results are fabulous, a joy to watch
Wow! What a great effort. Lisa is like the energizer bunny. Awesome work!
Hi Richard! haha she really is. Such a great model and super nice girl!
Awesome video! Such beautiful images. Such a wonderful model. Well done on a great presentation.
Thanks so much Kim! Lisa was the perfect fit for this shoot!
Watched 3 times so far and it’s awesome every time. Amazing photography by a superb photographer. Thanks so much for sharing. 👍
Hhaha thanks mate! I appreciate the love! Hopefully I can do some more of this stuff soon.
A fabulous photoshoot - beautifully done. Given lots to think about. Thanks
Hi Catherine, thanks so much. I hope you got some good ideas out of it :)
After watching all the OM-1 videos, I had the chance to get a hands on with it today. It exceeded my expectations. Going to bite the bullet and pre-order it.
Hi Chris, mate that is awesome! at one of the stores?
@@etchd_ Probably direct from Olympus/OMDS here in the UK. There's doesn't seem to be advantage from the stores, except maybe supporting the store. My regular place doesn't seem to have an allocation, possibly because they are not an authorised dealer.
This was the dopest set I’ve seen in a long while.
Yoo thanks so much mate! I was pretty stoked with how everything just fell into place!
@@etchd_ Seriously thinking about getting the OM-1 after this.
Cheers thanks Matt😊, you did a great job and no one fell off the cliff! All the best, keep well and enjoy your weekend 😊
The dinamic range in the 16:33!!! WOW So eager to get mine!!!!!
It really is such an awesome camera. I was surprised at what I could pull back!
Nice video, was that shot on the northern beaches in Sydney? Curl curl?
Ayy thanks dude! Sure was! my go to location ;)
Great work and review! Thanks! PS1 Are the video files easy to work with? Hard on the the computer?
Cheers! Na, I have a top spec M1x! Shoot me an email on etchdphotography@outlook.com and ill send you some files
Really nice pictures!!
Did you do portrait video as well? Do you recommend this camera for video?
Thanks so much! What do you mean did I shoot portrait videos? Orientation or of her?
@@etchd_ portrait video, in general.
Thank you! You're teaching me somethings I had no Idea my camera could do!
Hi Nikki, no worries thanks so much for stopping by! I hope you can put it into practice
amazing shooting. was also interesting to see u work. did appreciate the specs on the photos and also edits at the end.
Hi there! thanks for the support. I hope you got something out of it. It was a bit all over the place, but that's how I like to work ;)
@@etchd_ also sent it to my gf so she can pick some outdoor modeling tips. basically being more dynamic. btw, I never used my olympus for portrait, the f5.6 cant do it in busy urban environment vs a f1.8 85mm. but i might give it a try if we go landscape portrait one day where bokeh is less critical.
Cool shots Matt!
Yo thanks mr Itchy!
Nice inspirational video! I am waiting for the OM-1 to be delivered. So curious about the enhanced tracking features! Cheers!
@@MrITsmurf ahh I see. Well it works incredibly well! I haven't used the dog one yet, but keen to shoot more wildlife and give it a go.
Bro, these are so insanely good. I definitely want to get into this camera system.
Thank you my man. Hope the camera ended up on your hands !
if you are able to pull this magnificent shoot in this crappy weather it is a testimony to your talent and this great camera/lens, most gear other than OM /Olympus will pull back in the safety and forfeit the shoot to another day…really WOW camera…!
@@etchd_ Appreciate the answer, did you grade from log, or use their conversion Lut? The skin tones were just perfect!
WOW!!!! AWESOME work, Matt!!!
Hi Helen! thanks so much. Don't mind a bit of portraiture to mix things up! How are you going?
Great video! Thank you for your advices!
Do you think 12-100mm f4 pro would do the work for portrait shooting like this?
Thanks for the love mate, ahh you could if shooting at 40mm +, but otherwise you'll have very sharp shots that don't have a huge amount of depth. Really it's up to you and how much blur you want!
Matt, your review and work with this camera has inspired me to pick one up. My only downside is I have an older version of Lightroom and would need to use DNG files to edit. If you ever have time, could you test and see if you experience a quality loss?
Hi mate! ahh you are too kind. I'm glad it has helped you make a decision ha. Do you mean the actual files are DNG? or for the presets?
@@etchd_ sorry. I would need to convert to dng in order to import into and edit with Lightroom v6.14.
@@LonerMob Ahh I see! Honestly, all these shots were edited with .dng files because lightroom hadn't supported the ORF files yet, so no difference in quality that I could see :)
@@etchd_ great to know. Thank you!
@@etchd_ good to know! Did you convert to dng from OM workspace or camera raw?
Fantastic images! Certainly proves that the camera is the tool and the artist is the one with the vision.
Tough conditions for everyone, but boy do the conditions make for some awesome final images. :)
Much appreciated Peter! Im certain i could have gotten these images with the EM1MKIII, its just the number of useable shots would be far less as the AF on this new cam is so damn good. Yes, I absolutely love conditions that are wild. And if you can find the right people to work with in those conditions, its a recipe for a win!
Nice ! Can you share some 420 10bit footage please ? Would like to play with it.
Hi! thanks so much. Yep just send me an email etchdphotography@outlook.com
This camera are amazing, do you think it's a good choice for product photo? I never shoot on MFT
Thanks so much mate! Definitely, especially if the product isnt moving and you can use the hand held hi res. The image quality that comes out of it is better than full frame!
Some wild shots here mate!!!
Thanks my dude! Next you will have to model for me! ha
@@etchd_ haha! Looks too windy for me mate 🥶😂 full props to Lisa
Dude your photo was truly amazing, is great that you can take an advantage of the camera🔥🔥
Yoo thanks mate! Honestly I reckon I could have gotten these shots with the other cameras too, just the hit rate would have been far less ;)
Great job, all three! Enjoyed the video very much!👍
Thanks so much Sven! I'm glad you enjoyed the video!
Cool to see so much on a shoot! Thanks!
Thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed it 😁

OMG Looooooooove it!! Stunning pictures!
Ahh thank you so much for the love! Glad you love it :)
This is exactly how need to present a new camera!!!
Thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed it 😁
Watch your video really make me want to order the OM-1.
I am seriously considering buying this camera for portraiture events and weddings my main concern are low light capabilities.
You are truly amazing artist Etchd, your photos are beautiful and artistic with an edge of magic attached to it.
I’ve been searching for a video on this no luck yet
Thanks so much. That means a lot! I'm keen to shoot a wedding with the camera as well. Hopefully one comes up soon and I can give you my thoughts!
Hopefully soon :)
@@etchd_Thank you for your reply! It’s all good. Yeah I’m going to retry with some different settings!!
God! Youre amazing!😍🙌🏼
Haha thank you for the love 🙏
Really amazing, great to see.
Appreciate the love Glen!
Cheers.
Nice work
Thanks so much for the love!
I'm not even in the olympus system, but now I really want to dammit XD
Haha make the move! 😁😁😉
Great images, really!
Glad you like them Jeff! thanks for stopping by!
Cheers!

great video m8 :) cheers
How is vs EM1 III ?
Hi mate, its a major upgrade that's for sure! Still can get great shots with the EM1MKIII though :)
Freaking awesome
Thanks so much man! glad you think so :)
One more question, regarding OM-1 and seaspray:
I used my brand new OM-1 (with 12-40 pro mk1) in Greece 2 weeks ago and basically a wave broke over my head.
Sorry!
Do you mind sharing some of the RAW files?
Shoot me an email etchdphotography@outlool.com I cant share any portrait ones, but can send the ones I've sent others who requested :)
rest in peace sony and lumix. i think the only camera that can compete with this is the fujifilm gfx100s but the om system om1 is half the price
Ha thanks so much mate. I don't know if this is another brand killer or not, but it certainly fits what i look for in a camera :)
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thanks for the love!
Does anyone know if the Panasonic 10-25 F1.7 lens will AF at native Olympus speeds.
Hi Mark, I am unsure of that one sorry! Having not used any of the Panny lenses before.
One comment| WOW !
Hahah the light certainly was!
om 20mm 1,4 wins in all ways on sigma 30mm 1,4 including the amount of bokeh?
Hi Mirko, thanks for the watch. I have no idea sorry, I've not used the Sigma and they are different focal lengths so really can't fairly compare I'd say.
What is "BTS"?
Oh, is it "By The Sea"?
Do you also use the OM-1 for your wedding work or do you use FF?
Nope don’t use full frame for any of my work really. Check out my video on using Olympus cameras for weddings. I’ll have a new OM1 video coming out soon
