  • "Ain't We Got Fun?" words by Gus Kahn and Raymond B. Egan, Music by Richard A. Whiting.
This is by far one of my favorite early rag-time era tunes. So much fun and proves anything is possible with little imagination and fun!
"The Readers Digest Songbook of Popular Songs That Will Live Forever" says:
This tuneful song in praise of the joys of poverty has been a perennial favourite since it was written in 1921 by the team of Gus Kahn, Richard Whiting and Raymond Egan. Introduced during the heyday of vaudeville when $10 was considered a good week’s pay and the bill collector was a Familia if not quite beloved figure in the neighbourhood-“Ain’t We Got Fun?” Was featured by such top-flight acts as Van and Schenck, who are also remembered for making a hit of “I Wonder What’s Become of Sally” and many other numbers. Gordon McRae revived the song in the 1953 film By The Light of the Silvery Moon.

Very nice singing, but you got the lyrics incorrect, as do most singers. It's not "the poor get poorer." The original lyrics go, "There's nothing surer, the rich get richer and the poor get children." Some research, on the Internet, will confirm it.

@@mikegalvin9801 Yes, Mike, I believe that "Aint We Got Fun" was in Chapter 5 of F. Scott Fitzgerald's novel, "The Great Gatsby." The song came out in 1921 and "The Great Gatsby" was published in 1925. Here is the 1921 version of the song, with the playfully humorous but meaningful lyrics. ruclips.net/video/y041-eT6QrI/видео.html
