The stupidity and repetitiveness of the questions asked by the media never ceases to amaze me. They aren't interested in the pros and cons of issues - just finding an angle for a shockbite news leader. The policy is ethnicity neutral but the media can't help themselves trying to make it anything but.

Strangely it's mostly from the failure of governments to implement healthier interventions in schools, and to educate at home for our kids, that allows people to grow up violent and unaware of how to live civilly.
Your punishing the young and old adult criminals you've created without forgiveness rubbing their faces in their past always!!!
Perhaps looking at the public systems set up to support people better when they're troubled would be more beneficial. Like some of you high and mighty try to go undercover boss in the prisons/welfare system with no solid family and no money with a criminal history to find jobs and housing.... just then you might taste a little of what that gauntlet feels like for the real real to break free from. Your policies in place are not always implemented by how you seem to think. Mostly people are worried about their own and those who've tripped up outside of that realm are just fodder when a paycheck for the self is beckoning.
I'm putting my money on an uprising from such criminals who don't feel the slightest bit criminal anymore, but are told they are through the systems processes.
Uplifts for criminal history in the courts is just one of those unfair tools used when a person has already served their sentence for those old wrongs.
Look deep down inside yourselves, and I think you'll find a bit of criminal inside everyone.
More so called criminals than puritans I'd say, and a true rising up would amount to who winning ? Not that 1% that's for sure

I can't believe the silly question about Maori question. If your group commits more crime, expect your group to go to prison more as well. It's not hard to understand; if you're over-represented, it's because you commit more of it, not because of racism or anything like that.

Being lenient to the criminal is committing cruelty to the victim. sorting crime is the fundamental for the community. Focusing on priorities and "productivity" is very important in NZ to be accountable for its own economy and positive driving force for progress in the competition internationally. Good work!
