Wouldn't there be too much reflection from the shining dashboard? At certain time of the day or the position of the car, the sun will definitely reflect out of that dashboard.
What saved the grill is the fact that it's flat, and does not look like it was melted by a heat gun like the (insert EQx). I really like this new E. The taillights are so distinctive. The interior is full of tech, with nice materials. The only thing I would need to check is the ingress, and egress of the driver seat. It was not bad on the S213/W213 AMG, but it was horrible in the lower trims. You would constantly scrape against the b-pillar.
I agree, I think it would've looked better if the frame of the grille was body coloured. Although it's a beautiful front end nonetheless and I love the taillights.

It's nice to see some sharp lines again in Mercedes exterior design, They haven't gone over the top with it, just enough to look sharp and modern, etc...
There is no more coupé, there is going to be just one coupe which is I think would be called "CLE". Somewhere between the size of the C class couple and E class coupe.
As a beloved 210 owner, I think as the time goes on I will love this w214 more, I'm not sure if I will love it as W213 cause that one is everything this should have evolved from, but I think I will like it a lot. They should shorter the height of the center screen to line up with the height of the passenger screen and add more physical buttons and Knobs below the center screen then I think w214 would be everyone's favorite interior, but this interior is better than S class, C class, ans EQ interiors. I would get this in a classic trim with all black paint and smoke the taillights so it's not obvious I have MB star in my taillights it looks childish a bit. I love how they made E class distinctive like they used to with w210, 211, and Pre face lift 212.
i would not chose to option the screen in the passanger side , i would rather have that nice trim over a screen for the passenger , i think thats to mutch screen for me .
Why do many hate chrome?? I’m tired of miserable black bits everywhere…and I would take a “Triple Black” straight to the crusher…why do I want to look like a New York Hearse? Chrome can add lightness to a design…can bright interest to metallic paints if used carefully…I hate cars with it everywhere but handled with restraint, chrome is good…enjoy your black bits..you can look like everybody else from a Dacia to a drug dealer Golf….do you want that look???😬🤔🤔😳
Had lots of MB cars, new and ex demo and absolutely loved every one; the quality is next to none and dealer service, though expensive, is outstanding. My problem is that, for some years, the design has become more and more mundane whilst other manufacturers have become far more adventurous, although their finish and quality don't stand up to close scrutiny and, at the same time, the product cost has risen dramatically ( a redtop stated recently that the cheapest A class is now over £30,000).
I tried an EQC and thought the augmented reality was a nice feature. I love the new interior, it looks very smart. I don't have a strong opinion on the black front end, it's certainly not ugly. I await the (proper) AMG version(s) with interest.
Rear is better than the facelift 213 but other than the light graphics is nearly identical to the S lol. I find the light graphics rather tacky. Front is pretty bad in both trims, curious what the 53s will be like. Overall, still think the prefacelift 213 is fantastic. This 214s interior is the best implementation of the multi-screen setup MBs been going for but still too many screens for my liking
I am very excited about this new look. Can not wait for it to come to South Africa. Great job on your reviews. I don't mind the crome at all. Very luxurious spec 👌🏻

Finally, the C-E-and S have unique unmistakeable styling. I prefer the Classic or the anticipate 53 front end. Back looks great but those exhaust tips better be real in the E53. Interior is superb, prefer it to the C or S. Not sure about the 4 cylinder power train for smoothness, requires a road test. This E- class might bring me back in the showroom. As usual, an exceptional review & video. Thank you.
With the EQS SUV Maybach and this E class, Mercedes is showing us that they can create beautiful cars. Both cars are absolutely stunning, and the technology integration is pleasant to the eye. I am def excited about buying a new E class but need to wait for reviews on driving and comfort.
You know, I felt like I was just getting used to the current (outgoing model) and then Merc suddenly release the new one. I love the color here. Car looks futuristic for sure. OK, that rear is kinda sexy I must admit. Aggressive and I also like those rear lights. NOt a fan of the current S-class inspired design language of the rear lights across the sedan line.
My take. 1. It's amazing how much the front end of this thing looks so much like a 5 series from certain angles. (0:35). That black panel element in the grille is awful. Side profile looks good, very sleek. (01:30). Rear lights are terrible. Very chintzy and poorly resolved. (01:36). The rear end shape seems to fit the C and S much better, not sure why. (01:52). Still think the big star in the grille should be fast models or coupes only. Overall, the styling is safe. Not looking to the future like its rivals. Interior is amongst the worst I've seen, doesn't seem cohesive with the exterior.
Totally agree on that black panel front. They should've left that in body colour. Actually, the non-AMG Line grille looks a lot better than the AMG Line one thanks to the massive frame. Never would've thought that was possible ;) Although the lower part of the standard front bumper looks ridiculous with the weird looking closed air inlets. But except of the front, this car looks really nice. Haven't seen the AMG version yet, but I bet it will be a lot better than the series as always (at least I hope so)...
I'm owning a 2006 E 350 and still feel good driving it. I've always thought that the W211 was the finest of them all. I am pleased to see a new stunner in this version.
Is the black trim factory moulded or is it now wrapped when sold as night pack as of 2024? Can’t get a solid answer, mine is wrapped poorly. The door sil trim, window sills mirror housings. Front and real splitter trim was left chrome. I want to know if the model you are looking at is solid trim or soft vinyl wrapped. You can tell with a finger nail or looking close at the edges
From the exterior design both front and rear it borrows too much from the design of the C and S classes loosing its individuality. There definitely is an improvement in the side profile but I feel it would help to widen the C pillar for added muscularity. Between the front grill and rear lights a bit too much of the Benz Star logo going on could have eliminated the stars in the front grill. Happy to see that Benz finally reduced the size of the air con vents , which seemed to overtake the entire dashboard of the previous models . I personally feel there should be hep-tic buttons for basic functions which would reduce number of call ups on the touch pad and less distraction to the driver. Having to operate a touch pad for every option is as much or more of a distraction as operating a phone while driving.
Own a 2016 C300 currently and looking at potential upgrades soon, I may have to switch over to BMW. I don't like the direction Mercedes is taking these new cars (E-Hybrids) especially what they've done with the C63. BMW has continued to retain the feel and look of what it means to be a drivers car. Even the new 3, 4 and 5 series look better than the new Mercedes vehicles. Disappointing from MB to say the least.
The new BMW M5 being tested clearly sounds like a V8. Mercedes fans hoping Mercedes creates a new 6cyl, so they avoid the 4cyl engine in the C63. Things are not looking good for Mercedes
As a c238 driver, I will probably not be trading for the new one. I think there’s a lot of upgrades. I like the exterior except for the Zorro mask looking black plastic on the grille. It’s just not better looking than the last version on the outside. On the inside, it’s highly problematic. There are a few humungous wins: 1) no default piano black center console, wood trim dash, surprisingly less cost cutting compared to the 206 C class. However, it follows up on perhaps the best design interior under 150k usd. It is perhaps the best current gen car to come out with the new corporate design language. Yes it works, but it’s a shameful missed opportunity with its capacitive touch and lack of architecture. Transplant the next gen of features and road manners (rear wheel steering) onto the previous gen 213 car and you have the best car in the world. Personally, I will probably just buy a current gt53 or get a 214 but specifically with the 6cyl and the matte pinstripe wood trim dash instead of the super screen. Too bad the upcoming CLE will be closer to the despicable 206 C class than this car, which is much higher quality. I think this car is an unfortunate victim of market trends (piano black, capacitive touch) and EU regs causing a drain on the R&D budget. That being said, I think it’s a lot better than the 206 and all the eq models. Maybe the facelift will be significantly better seeing as a lot of this design was set in stone by the time MB received the unanimous negative feedback about capacitive touch and piano black.
c238 was amazing, especially the AMG 63s Version. BUT, this is way better, I just hope that the AMG 63s version will be super powerful and aggressive looking. I will buy that one over the new S63.. E class all the way.
@@benito91kumbirai26 FYI, the C238 has no E63 variant, only the E53 with the 3.0 inline 6cyl. The C238 is the specific code of the E-coupe for the w213 generation. I wish they would have put the V8 in there!
I agree, the New black panel element around the chrome is unnecessary and looks much better in body color. If I was to buy this vehicle I would have it painted body color.

first impression of the exterior was a little weird but as I look at it more, it actually is quite sexy. thumbs down for the fake exshaust and so few physical buttonsss
That screen inside is super reflective jazz, and there is a lot of piano black , but when you say big changes I had just inside one from 2022 and I don't find it a lot different lol
I think this grille looks much better than the EQ grilles. It's not amazing, but it's not bad. Nothing like the madness of BMW and Lexus noses these days!

Does this New e class have a dynamic spot mode?
Someone has to notice the reflections happening with these screens
That screen inside is super reflective jazz, and there is a lot of piano black , but when you say big changes I had just inside one from 2022 and I don't find it a lot different lol
Looks cool. Would look better if the chrome around the grille and across the back were black. Nice to see an interesting colour from Mercedes.
Hopefully they'll be an AMG line black edition, where the chrome bit on the back is black instead of silver. I'm sure it'll look much better
I think this grille looks much better than the EQ grilles. It's not amazing, but it's not bad. Nothing like the madness of BMW and Lexus noses these days!
You can get other grills as well and we gotta wait for the AMG ones
BMW 5 series grills look way better. Let's stick with comparing comparable models.
@@LB-sh7qt Yes, I agree, the 5 series are fine. I was speaking more generally of the wild trips happening other places. I think Mercedes has not had any really terrible front fascias. (I think the EQ* problem is one of general proportions.)
I like it. I have a e300de and it all looks good to me. I'm glad they did something about the boot space as the shelf is a bit annoying...
I THINK TOP JOB MERCEDES. the scren not being hyper but having the seperation for the driver is a big plus. dash sits lower so Very happy.
Love the green colour n the black surround around the grille
Is it bad to suggest im more excited for the new BMW 5 series
As a w124 and w123 and w205 C63s owner I actually really don't mind the new design. I can see some of the old w124 DNA which is nice to see.
I wonder who would ever go into the menu to change the airflow.
Finally some changes to the tail lights design
