    Perfect timing...just about to finish my TBI overhaul but wasn't aware the pintle shaft could be removed...going out to the shop to do it now. My 82 comes out of storage next week to install my newly rebuilt 355cid full roller rebuild....thanks as usual Joe for the informative Xfire videos.

      No problem! I think you’ll be surprised at the amount of crap caked in there if it’s never been disassembled and cleaned. Hope all goes well with it!

      @@Joesmusclecargarage just finished cleaning and re-assembling the IAC's. The front IAC was more carboned up than the rear but they both definitely needed cleaning. You learn something new every day about these Cross Fires...thanks for the help!

    Hey Joe, thanks for a very informative video. I'm in South Africa with a Recaro Transam & it's great to learn how to repair stuff on the vehicle, as you can understand, it's very difficult here.👍

      in a TBI system ,would it be wise to also,with carb cleaner ,spray into hole on TBI body where the tip of the IAC contacts when screwed in ?

    my 85 tuned port will not idle and runs terrible when the car is cold. Once it gets to around 180 degrees and up it runs fine any ideas could this be it. I checked the cold start valve and connector that was not it thanks.

    Hi Joe, thank you for your video. I was wondering one of the next things to do on my 83 305 CFI is to get to the IAC, I changed the coolant temp sensor, CO2, replaced some hoses re possible vacuum leake. The car drives nice at temp, but remains at high revs in neutral once warm. I haven't changed or cleaned the IAC as yet? Any thoughts?

      Clean the IACs and reset the minimum air/base idle. Make sure the TBs are synced.

      We cleaned the IACs one was stiffer than other when my mechanic did it, unsure if we reset it properly, did notice it with slight improvement and lower revs, I have a feeling one is still clogged up, drove it home straight away haven't started it since but battery is disconnected, looking forward to starting it soon.

    Hi,after my TBI rebuilt and base idle setting procedure when I put in gear my engine revs very high,from 650 in neutral to 1500 rpms in gear,in gear only,not in park or neutral,what do you think?

    The pintel on mine is already halfway in, it isn’t wiggling out, any tips?

    • @Joesmusclecargarage
      @Joesmusclecargarage  Год назад

      Pull harder. It’s takes some force to get it out while you’re wiggling it.

      @@Joesmusclecargarage thanks for the quick reply, I was convinced it was defective so I left her plugged in but unscrewed and did the reset mode, it shot right out. Looks super clean no carbon but is definitely after market. I did another reset after installing and my truck still idles very high so I just ordered a new Delphi unit since this one is definitely aftermarket. Should show up tomorrow, I will update folks when I get it installed. Think I need to do another AB reset after installing the new one tomorrow? I noticed the idle screw was already backed all the way out. Thanks again.

      No. I just sold mine a little while back. Ended up converting to a single TBI before I dumped the car.
